While I support the small/big school split to grow the sport I would still like the two winners to square off to determine a true KY champion.  Am I the only one who feels this way?

Campbell and Union dominated their divisions. Would have been an great dual (possibly) if they would have met up. In my opinion, CC hands down is the best team in KY.

I'm guessing the split won't last. With all the teams not showing up for sectionals and teams backing out of states...seems like coaches are defeating the purpose of what they voted for.

It was WAY too crowded for that gym. Uncomfortable seating, hot and 3 of the mats were nearly impossible to see from the bleachers. It should've been at two different schools.

Fern Creek did a fine job running the meet and keeping up with concessions. There were just too many wrestlers and spectators to only have one side of the bleachers pulled out.

Someone posted about no shows?

If No shows are happening because of things outside of bad weather then that team shouldnt be able to qualify next year. Its was the rule a few years back. that includes not showing up for sectional duals.

When the orginal state duals were started, several schools played we will only show up if we have a good draw or have a chance to win game.

I have some paperwork to get caught up on. I will post completed brackets with team scores in the am. Although it was tight in the gym, Fern Creek did an excellent job hosting. Being the first year of this format, we were not perfect but I think the issues are very fixable.

Hats off to coaches association, Coach Hitchings Fern Creek and volunteers. That was organized and ran smooth. Yes is was a little cramped and hot but its hard to find a gym not a venue that has room forr 8 mats. It could be ran at 2 different schools. Anytime a tournament of 24 teams is completed at a decent hour is always a good thing.

Great job ya`ll.

As is often the case on these forums, I do not have a dog in the fight. That being said, you seem to think that CC has the best team, hands down. Can we look at the lineups both of the Dual Champ teams (CC & UC) had at Fern Creek this weekend and guess what the outcome might have been?

CC vs UC

106 Sheffer MD Lillie. (0-4)

113 Dezember FALL Wilbers (0-10)

120 Blackwell FALL Maggard (0-16)

126 Ervin FALL Spahr (0-22)

132 Fausz FALL Ervin (6-22) I think Fausz was at 126? I'm not sure though, I was not there this weekend, I was getting second hand results, but I think that if CC bumps him to 32, it's a wash, and if they leave him at 26 they could give up 3 @ 26 and 3 @ 32.

138 Carr DEC Hamilton (6-25)

145 Gahafer DEC Woods (6-28) heard Gahafer was at 45, can someone confirm that?

152 SAM FALL ????? (12-28)

160 don't know either guy here? (15-28) So I give 3 to CC because whoever it is trains with SAM.

170 Turner DEC Morris (18-28)

182 Matthews FALL Smith (24-28)

195 Carter DEC Graziani (24-31)

220 ATM FALL Sherman (30-31)

Comes down to the final match!!!!

This a close one folks....

Not sure where you came up with the CC lineup but that is not what they had at the duals

I believe they were as follows.

106 Krebs

113 Maggart

120 Spahr

126 Skinner/Fausz (I think Fausz makes 126 just in case)

132 Fausz/Skinner

138 Hamilton

145 Woods

152 Meyer

160 Bachman

170 Turner

182 Mathews

195 Keeton

220 Meyer

Hwt Sinclair

It makes a big difference. Krebs and Maggart are hands above Lillie and Wilbers.

Keeton is hands above Graziani.
