Again, the JC parents should have never been allowed to stand matside. The kid wasn't a great sport but did he deserve an ejection? Not in my opinion. I was here it didn't see him "Ric Flair." I seen other kids do a little celebrating after some of their matches and there was never a word mentioned. What this kid did I finally get ejected was wave at the JC fans/parents who were matside, where they were not suppose to be.

It seems odd to use the KHSAA growth allowances but not use their certification program. I know Ranger tried to get the state to agree to this a couple years ago, but didn't get enough votes. No to certification but yes to "growth" allowances seems somewhat contradictory to me. Can someone shed light on the thought process here? I wasn't at the meetings, so I have no idea what the coaches had to say. If a kid needs a few #'s to naturally grow, maybe coaches should recommend a higher weight class at the beginning of the season and/or accept jumping into a higher class. From what I've seen, the weight allowances are being used to drop a class more than what they're designed to do, which is to allow cushion for growth. W/out a certification program, I don't think we should have any allowances. Scratch weight all year.

Yep, it will just be a different kid cutting the weight. The growth allowance is needed in middle school. I've had kids that work hard, and have still grown out of their weight class even with the allowance.

Let's setup a tailgate party outside the arena in the parking lot. We'll have brats, hotdogs, hanburgers, drinks and such. for anyone who does have to purchase a ticket, they can come outside and enjoy FREE refreshments.

That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out post and, as such has no place in this forum. As a self-proclaimed Newbie, you will soon discover the emotional animals that frequent the kentuckywrestling jungle.

First, I believe that we would be teaching our kids the democratic process. If we are not satisfied with how things are being done, or disagree with decisions being made, we act in a manner which is peaceful in nature; but the key is to ACT. Voicing our opinions is an important part of teaching our children that they have a voice and should not assume the position of sheep being herded through life by the more powerful figures in our government or organizations of which we may belong. Second, I believe several have offered solutions or ideas to fix this. The coaches association proposed one solution, in the form of a proposal which went unread by the KHSAA. I do not have my rule book on hand, but does anyone know if there is a set time limit for reporting to the mat once your bout has been called? If there is a five minute limit to reporting to the mat once the bout has been called, then the finalists could use that five minute time to wait out the other matches. Just a thought. Great response to this. We should also get this trending on Twitter for all those young technologically superior teenagers. Like Mr. Turner exhibited, it is these young men who are being affected the most. Their voice should not be denied, as these are the kids whom KHSAA claims to serve.

Can't speak on the dual portion But I pride myself on being demanding of wrestlers. You can't find anywhere on this site where I have said ATM is not a great wrestler, but I want more from him. In regards to Mr. Myers, Coach Jackson is excellent but trying to rebuild a program after it is gutted (by Cael Sanderson) is a tall order. Coach Koll has proven time and again where he stands among college coaches and it is really hard to go wrong with his stuff. I think Pat DeGain is at Virginia but I will say with strong confidence that no matter where he is Coach DeGain is the best heavyweight coach in the nation Can't speak on the dual portion But I pride myself on being demanding of wrestlers. They are some of the highest endowed institutions in the world. As long as you have the gpa and a high 28+ act score, they can be cheaper than most other schools. No redshirts in Ivy league either.

Lindsey-Wilson is doing incredible things. It really looks like they are taking it to the next level. Still they are an entirely different school than Cornell...both on the mat and the academic prestige. Coach Koll has done well with the higher weights too. Cam Simaz and now Gabe Dean. At Cornell you can win a national title as an individual and as a team, too, plus get an Ivy League education. Ivy schools don't give athletic scholarships though. I'd love to know how they get all these great wrestlers to go there. How do they pay for school if not on a wrestling scholarship? Cornell costs about $50K/year.

St X 106 top8 113 binder top 4 120 beats top 8 126 miles close to top 8 132 haddad top 8(has potential to shock everyone except Brock of course) 145 smart close to top 8 152 champ 5 pins 160 champ 4 pins hwt top 8 3 or 4 favorable draws they could be in the mix. X has a chance to qualify 14 Union should get at least 13 Fern Creek coming from region 3 could get all 14 in. Most are right around top 10 or so in their classes. Trinity has 9 potential placers 8 of them have at least a shot getting in the top 4. Even after all that Union is still my pick to win it all. If Union gets some favorable draws they could put up some serious points. Tarzan someone else already did CC. Spar could make a big dif. It would be nice if was still in doubt when the big boys wrestle.

I would say: Campbell has 9 possible placers (2 champs), Woodford has 6 possible placers (1 champ), Union has 8-10 possible placers (2 champs) CC 106-Wells (top 4) 113-Krebs (ltop 6) 126-Spahr (did not wrestle at duals?...top 8) 132-Maggard (top 6) 138-Fausz (champ) 170-Turner (possible finalist) 182-Matthews (top 4..possible finalist) 220-Myers (champ) 285-Sinclair (top 6) Where they are weak they are WEAK, that was very apparent at duals. This line-up might be all that qualifies from the hammer that is region 6! WC 106-Hurst (possible finalist) 113-Fallon (top 8) 120-Boston (Champ) 126-Carr (possible finalist) 145-Andrioni (top 4) 182-Courtney (top 4) No one else really impressed, but solid and from a slightly weaker region so could get some points from other guys! UC 106-S. Ervin (top 5) 113-Sheffer (possible finalist) 120-Dezember (possible finalist) 126-Blackwell (champ) 132-B. Ervin (champ) 138-Oxford (top 8) 145-Gahaffer (top 4) 285-Brown (did not wrestle at duals?...top 4) Was impressed with their 182lb guy at state duals 3-2 with Smith from moore also with 170 not being as deep this year their Smith could place. Same thing as woodford they come from a relatively weak region and could get some points from their other guys! St. X did not get to watch them this year and they bounced guys all over the place at the duals! I think the state tournament is anyones to win and lose!!

I have high standards for my elite wrestlers, winning two titles at Fargo would give ATM elite status yes. You don't have to wrestle at Fargo to be elite but it's pretty damn important. If you wanted me to name :"elite" wrestlers in high school right now I would give you Chance Marstellar Kyle Snyder Bryce Brill Bo Nickal maybe Nick Nevills Guys like ATM and Mark Hall are the same talentwise as that bunch, I just want them to flesh out their resumes.

I am of the party that criticizes the Jordans for not wrestling at Fargo. You could make a case that they dodge anyone who could challenge the "Jordan Mystique." However Isaac is doing very well for Wisconsin right now so there is at least something to the myth. I am not knocking ATM, I just want to see him wrestle nationally more to show off how good he is.

Yes Boston won Flo and was invited to Dapper Dan which I mentioned. But my point is that is not enough, Boston needs to compete even more, win Fargo and win at Dapper Dan. Then win in college ATM's in-state career is extremely impressive and anyone who denies that are just fooling themselves. Ohio is very elitist and likes to think their kids and way of life are better then anyone else's, for all lovely Ohioans that I know I apologize for the sweeping generalization but I'm trying to make a point. He is ranked very highly right now based on the strength of his Ohio and Kentucky dominance and off of the national recognition of his pure overall talent. But he needs more national tourney exposure of the type of tournaments I mentioned in order to be placed in a Kyle Snyder/Chance Marstellar level

Well we can look at Zahid Valencia, who has dominated that national scene since his freshman year, hasn't always won it but his face has been out there and is well respected. Chance Marstellar is a living breathing high school legend like his mentor Cary Kolat. He has not lost a single high school match his whole career despite seeking out the best at his weight time and again, he will probably major Bo Nickal when they wrestle at Dapper Dan. As has been said earlier, Kyle Snyder has not only beaten the best in the nation but has also topped the best in the world. Yes he did lose a classic match to Cox, but Cox is 3rd in the nation as a true freshman and could easily win it this year. Boston competing at the national level helps his case a lot, and if he wins at the Dapper Dan that will give him a lot of hype going into his college career. But to be considered some of the P4P best in the nation you have to literally live at the national tournaments like Valencia, Joey McKenna, Nick Nevills, Chance Marstellar, and company. By national tournaments I'm talking about Ironman, Super32, Powerade, Cheesehead, Flo, Fargo, Dapper Dan (if invited of course), Beast of the East, and... well that about covers the premier events but there are lots of other insanely good tournaments such as Senior Nationals and whatever Clovis calls their tourney.

In reality, what David Taylor did in high school in Ohio and at the national level along with his success at Penn St, no one from KY is on that level or should be mentioned in the same sentence, just like Dake, Ruth, Steiber Brothers, that's a whole other skill level of wrestler. Period!

When your kid comes home from school and the first thing you ask him is, "What did you eat today at lunch?"
  19. 1 point
Yes I've heard about Issac Lawson. He did have some close matches with top notch kids. I bet he makes a good run this year. And Krebs is a big one I think. Krebs at 126 was good, but now at 113, is a lot more noticable. I bet he makes the podium as well.

When you know that buzzing your sons head does not amount to even half an ounce.

Brad Krebs from CC Is down to 113 and has had some good showing winning both the hammer anvil and fairfield inv. should make the podium.

I like how union and x wrestled , I think all the champs should play king of the Mat at the end of each state tournament to determine who is #1 1 champ for most wins and a champ for who goes undefeated . No forfeits

He has beaten the next three behind him on intermat wich is more than I would Bet anyone else on intermat at 220 can say including Wood who has never wrestled Austin , if a holes were apples you would still be one , I wouldn't be implying anyone could beat Austin other than Snyder and how a soph with losses and less titles gets ranked ahead of ATM is beyond me except of course I know who does the rankings and what states get the padding , Ky ain't one of em , Like I said he's faced all three kids below him and won , who else at 220 can say that , . Snyders a sr who graduated early a beast . ATM will be headed for the 1 spot . Regardless of Lowe or any other ranking. When everyone is beaten it will not matter who is ranked where . Undefeated

That is not enough in your comment about Boston , pretty ballsy i say it's plenty you don't have to even mess with Fargo to be top dog , not sure ATM can take charge in Fargo not wrestling fr and gr for a few yrs and KY not being the hotbed of the world in fr gr wrestling but to quite someone else it is his skill set , so if he wins four by his sr yr then wins two titles in Fargo would that be enough or must he win four state four nationals reason undefeated and win Fargo doing something NO ONE HAS done in the sport , would that be enough , oh yeah I all throw in a few sacks and a td for good measure . You kill me , what's next who's name gets name Dropped next.

You guys are clowns. By downplaying Austin Meyers, you are in fact saying Kentucky wrestling is a small pond. Meyers has beat the best Ohio has thrown at him, and if you goofballs think for one second Kentucky is even close to Ohio you're stoned. The mere fact that you have to dig into National ranked big names and guys like Bo Jordan to compare Meyers to speaks volumes about Meyers. State for State, Kentucky would get STOMPED at the Ohio State tourney. Kentucky at present has at the most 3 kids that could compete at State level in Ohio, and two of them wrestle for Campbell County. In fact, Fauz just got his rear end handed to him by two freshman... who aren't even ranked that high in Ohio. Bottom line, all your crap talking only shows that you have NOBODY even close to Meyers, as evidenced by all the cowards that have been giving him forfiets as of late. Get over yourselves. You're of no consequence on the big stage... unlike Meyers. Until you put somebody up there to even compete with him, just nod and accept the fact that he's a level above you or anybody you have. It's a shame anyone would have to defend a wrestler wiyh a perfect record and ranked higher than ANY Kentucky wrestler. And if you try to say Mark Hall, you're grasping for straws and you're an idiot. Be proud of the kid. He's the only thing keeping Kentucky wrestling relevant.
