Oldham County Super Duals results- Finals

Recommended Posts

In the Final dual to determine 1st and 2nd place at Oldham county, Seneca defeated Larue County by 7 points. Seneca high school is undefeated in duals with a record now standing at 7-0. Seneca was missing 4 of their normal varsity starters.

Look for Seneca to become a surprising team for this season. With all wrestlers healthy, they will be even better than they showed this past Saturday at Oldham county.

When they get their big dogs it wont be pretty for any teams that face them. I wouldn't be too suprised if they won state duals this year.

I think everyone needs to watch out for Jordan Murphy.  He wrestled like a mad dog released.  I wouldn't say that the Murphy-Norbury match was very good as far as competition.  Murphy completely controlled the entire match.  I  believe he even let Norbury up 2 or 3 times just to take him down again. This match looked like a man against a boy!

our team (holmes) did pretty good for having a new head coach and 5 first year wrestlers

mark jones was 5 and 0 with like 2 forefits he is dropping to 189 as soon as skin fold allows him

thurman herron was 4 and 1 dont remember how many forefits

dj cooper (me) was 3 and 2 (one forefit, one pin in first period and one tech 17 to 2 over apollo) i was 160 but will most likely drop to 152 soon

the first year kids did not win any but wrestled really good

brandon wren got hurt but it is not serious and he will be back this week..

I thought he was. Jus was drawing a blank on how he did against John Hardin. Thanks for the correction.

Seneca defeated LaRue by 1 point. Final was something like 34-33.

No, they did not win by 1 point. Seneca was up by 16 points when the 119 were up. Larue's beat Seneca's 119 1-0, which put seneca up by 13 points. Then the back up 125 from seneca got stuck for the last match which put them up by 7 points. Seneca won by 7

Rumor has it warra is having trouble making weight. I'd expect to see him down by the end of this week if all goes well.  As for Casa Felix De Valle he was at 119 and may have bumped up once to 125. He didn't look to big though, just had a little pudge on him.  :-D

Paden and Thompson will both drop down a weight at Xmas; Paden going 103 and Thompson 112 but on this day were willing to wrestle up when needed.  Others may drop a weight or two as well, just have to wait and see who goes where for LaRue.

This was a great early season dual, intense and electric.  A good early season dual and one that could have gone either way.  Both teams had kids out for various reasons (Sen didn't have Warra and LaRue was without Ray).  If they meet at state duals, this will be fun to watch again!!

Congrats to both teams.
