I don't want to bash Coach Coomes because I know that he doesn't receive all of the information that he needs to do this effectively. BUT, I think there is some information out there that can be used to make a better ranking system. So, I have searched the web for newpapers and team sites and watched and read about as many meets as possible and come up with my own version of the Kentucky High School Wrestling Rankings. And I welcome any and all criticisms and potential corrections that you have. There are still a few wrestlers that I haven't seen results for and don't have a good idea what weight they are wrestling. So let me know what you have seen if I have something wrong.

After NKAC i like the fact that you have Josh Cooper first at 145. He did beat Aylor, Wilson, and Thuneman all in one weekend's work ... thats amazing.

I also think Ozzie Parker is the guy to beat at 130.

Those look pretty good actually. I would probably change Warner and Ayler alittle.

Put Warner higher up, maybe 2. I bet he wins that weight class. And after last week, put Ayler down alittle more, behind Courtney.

They look good.

Look's pretty good to me. Still a lot of work for some kids though to improve themselves in the rankings. Some weights are really starting to look real solid. Like to see that more in Kentucky. We are starting to fill each wieght with more quality wrestlers, than just the top 1 or 2. Nice job , keep up the good work.

I still think Aylor will be a force, just may have a tough region to deal with. I have seen Warner this year and think Miller is better, who has been beaten by Veach twice.

My goal is to get as many results from the weekend as possible (such as NKAC and Bourbon Bash last week) and update rankings each Wednesday.

ranger 123 coomes rankings are pretty acurate at the end of the year. give the man time to see people wrestle and get results. people will move weights by jan 15. we will then have a good look. other than the top two or three in each class everthing else is a guess.

Sanders beat Goldsby 10-1 and I think he would beat Mines also, I don't know much about the Powers kid.

1.Murton(Law. co.)

2.Thuenaman(Scott)

3.Sanders(Harr. co.)

4.Mines(Ft.Cambell)

5.Goldsby(Cov. Holmes)

6.Powers(Southern)

7.Stewart(Fern Creek)

8.Spualding(Anderson Co.)

9.Kiper(Ohio Co.)

10.Smith(Larue Co.)

That's what I think it should be personally.

I somewhat agree that these rankings don't mean much, especially once two kids step onto the mat. But I think they are great to generate some excitement around individuals, teams, dual meets, or tournaments. What better way to get some fans interested in coming out to a meet than to say "Come out and see us against Fern Creek, the #4 team in the state" or "we're wrestling Simon Kenton which has 2 kids ranked #1 in the state". And the only way that works is if the rankings are reasonable, credible, and based on as much information as possible, which is what I'm trying to do.

Looking at the rankings I think they are good but noticed a few wrestlers ranked ahead of people they have lost to this year and not in a close match. 189 has Larue ranked ahead of Dunbar after the Dunbar kid beat him 13-5 at Oldham County Duals. 171 Larue kid is ranked and Dunbar kid beat in a close by score but really not that close of a match. He scored his 2 pts because the Dunbar kid let him up.

Where did Sanders defeat Golsby? I'm quite certain Golsby defeated Sanders at the dual at Holmes. Golsby took him down 2 or 3 times in the 1st period then ran out of gas and allowed Sanders to come back and almost tie the match in the 3rd.

At the NKAC Golsby was able to match Tuenerman, he did however catch a hip toss that gave him 4 points and tying the match. Golsby took the lead in the 3rd with a switch, then Thuenerman got an escape a point for stalling and finally a takedown to win the match.

From what I have seen Golsby wrestles to the potential of his opponents. He only defeated Hovekamp by a couple also. He gets sloppy, but is able to beat anyone on a given day, but also able to lose to anyone on a given day.
