Union County vs Father Ryan (TN)

Recommended Posts

This should be a great dual matchup Friday as Father Ryan travels to Union bringing along 6 wrestlers ranked #1 and their whole lineup ranked in top 6 in Tennessee at their respective weight classes. Also, Calloway County will be there as well.

Wow, it says a lot about Union's program that Father Ryan (Nashville) would travel that far for a dual meet.  They are pretty selective of where they compete.  Very impressive.  Too bad they don't travel a few more miles and jump into the Mater Dei Invitational next week.  I have seen a lot of state champions over the years wrestling for 3rd and 5th place at Mater Dei.

Will UC be at full strength for the Ryan dual?

Good luck, guys!!!!!

Strategy. I'm guessing to avoid King and wrestle their 160. Could've risked losing both 152/160 if he didn't bump up. King is one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in Tennessee. Tough matchup for a freshman Ervin.

Not really a stunning victory for Union but a very impressive one they have been handing out these type of losses to begin the season...

Micah was teched by King last year at the Father Ryan tourney. He would have given it a shot, but he had a sore shoulder. They probably want him ready for a tough weight class at Mater Dei.

I'm not really getting it is a team that has 2 forfeits in their lineup really that good .and with the dual well in hand what strategy is there in running from a good match ,If someone is hurt why wrestle them at all if you are blowing out a team ?
