Recommended Posts

What wrestlers do we have in the state going on to college to play football and where? I'm trying to recruit football players and like to show them wrestling can help them get to play college ball. Love to see a list.

I have on the NFL guys, just trying to make it hit closer to home. I've had a few guys play college ball that agreed they never would have got to if not for wrestling. Plus nice to say hry, ghat guy you played against is going to so and so to play.

I don't know how many Buckeye fans are out there, but this is a good article that came out a week or so ago.  Fickell (OSU Defensive Coordinator) was a 3 time state champ, and LOVES wrestlers.  Tressel also has a video somewhere about his recruiting tactics for wrestlers while at tOSU.

These sports go hand in hand, I wish more football coaches would buy in on how it can help everyone.

Tja- awesome list! Coach Wagers- right on re:Fickell. There seems to be an article like this every year. Tim Krumrie is one of my favorites. He coached w/ the Bengals after his playing days. Part of his pre-draft scouting consisted of wrestling with prospective draft picks. Dude was an animal! Coachteater- be sure to show this list to your school's football coach (oftentimes a big hurdle in recruiting fb players). There are many "testimonials" from college and pro coaches regarding wrestling positive impact on developing football skills.

There was a interview with Roddy White (Falcon WR) on Monday night football 2-3 years ago, talking about his skills and talents, and he gave a BIG SHOUT OUT to his wrestling days back in high school and how it helped him accel in football.  He was a 2X South Carolina State Champ

Just found this on youtube- Roddy at the OTC
