Saw this on facebook: When he woke up after they rotated his leg back around, one of the first things Ian asked about was where the Male "kid" (the one he was wrestling against when this happened) was. Ian said he wanted him to know that it wasn't his fault. So if anyone knows the other kid that was involved in this, we want you to know that we know you've been in as much pain mentally as Ian has physically. And we all hope that you're able to get through this as well. So much love out to Ian's coaches, team, all of the Atherton High School and fellow wrestlers throughout the county. We thank you all for your love, professionalism, and support.

TRINITY ATHLETICS - WRESTLING COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT Friday, 27 May 2016 11:06 I am pleased to announce the hiring of Patrick Fleming for the position of Head Coach, Trinity Wrestling. Patrick will join the Trinity coaching ranks on June 1, and will assume the role most recently held by long-term Trinity teacher and head wrestling coach Eddie Rudolph H’95. Eddie will remain at Trinity as a fulltime faculty member and will assist Patrick with his transition during the 2016-17 school year. Patrick brings a number of years wrestling experience as a former high school and collegiate wrestler, and as a head wrestling coach for the past seven years at Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville, Indiana. While at Providence, Coach Fleming grew both the high school wrestling program and a youth wrestling club, while developing a number of conference, sectional and regional champions. He also served as a strength coach at the school. After high school, Patrick attended the Unites States Naval Academy, where he was a varsity wrestler for Navy. After graduating from the Academy, Patrick served six years as a commissioned naval officer. Following active duty, he has remained in the US Navy reserve, where he has attained the rank of Lt. Commander. Patrick furthered his education with an MBA from DePaul University. His professional career is in the financial services sector, where he has been employed by Edward Jones Investments for the past seven years. Coach Fleming and his wife Marianne have a two year old son, Everett, and reside in Sellersburg, Indiana.

I think the all day tournaments hurt middle school wrestling. If the weight classes could be broken up somewhat with some going in the morning and some going in the afternoon, I think that would help. The 10-12 hour marathons aren't for a lot of folks.
