Zach who?  Freshman football player?

Zach Scalf [spelling?]. You'll see him sometime this week if you show up. He's like a little Steve Horak, only he isn't a complete idiot.

What about Trinity and St-X?  I suppose those boys aren't allowed online.

Trinity's line up is generally a well known one. Not to hard to figure them out.

St. X is somewhat of a mystery team this year, nobody is really sure how they are going to perform. I for one think that they will be ok this year. Not like their old days but they'll be ok.

Anybody heard anything about the other Region 5 teams.  All I saw was J-Town & Fern Creek on here.  I was hoping to get a Glimpse of Oldham, South Oldham, North Oldham, & Eastern.  They all typically have some decent team turnouts!  According to Ranger the teams have the following (they couldn't have this big of opennings):

Oldham

103:  ???

112:  ???

119:  Daniel Brenneman (10)

125:  ???

Eastern Lineup

(not definite until all football players come out)

103:Mason Skaggs/Paul Miller/middle schooler

Skaggs and Miller both beginner wrestlers, or an experienced 7th or 8th grader may step up

112:Jo Rupp

Jo Rupp is an 8th grade returning state qualifier at 103 placing 3rd in Region 5 in 2008. Rupp went 0-2 at the 2008 KHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Rupp has one season of varsity experience.

119:Jay Upton/AJ Ramper

Jay Upton is a returning sophomore JV wrestler who competed in 2008 at 103lbs. and qualified for the JV State Tournament. AJ Ramper is Junior first-time wrestler

125:Russell Nyitrai/Jalen Sanders/JaQuan Abraham

Russell Nyitrai is a sophomore returning state qualifier at 112lbs. placing 4th in Region 5 in 2008. Nyitrai went an impressive 2-2 at the 2008 KHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Nyitrai has 2 seasons of varsity experience. Sanders and Abraham are two very athletic sophomores who are in their second year competing. Both could contend for a starting spot. 125-130 is a very competitive weight in the practice room

130:Russell Nyitrai/Austin Dicken/Jalen Sanders/JaQuan Abraham

Austin Dicken is an experienced freshman who competed at 119lbs. in the 07-08 season and placed 5th in Region 5. Dicken also was a state qualifier in 2007 at 103lbs. placing 4th in Region 5 and posting a 1-2 record at the 2007 KHSAA State Wrestling Championships. (see above paragraph for Nyitrai/Sanders/Abraham)

135:Tom Shirey

Tom Shirey is a sophomore returning state qualifier at 130lbs. placing 3rd in Region 5 in 2008. Shirey went 0-2 at the 2008 KHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Shirey has 2 seasons of varsity experience.

140:Justin Davis

Justin Davis is the senior returning State Champion at 135lbs. Davis placed 1st in Region 5 in 2008, and was the Region runner-up in 2007. Davis is a 2-time State Placer. Davis placed 4th at 135lbs. in 2007, and placed 1st at 135lbs. in 2008. Davis has 2 seasons of varsity experience.

145:Tom Rupp

Tom Rupp is a sophomore and a returning starter. Rupp competed at 140lbs. in the 07-08 season and placed 5th in Region 5. Rupp has 3 years of varsity experience.

152:Hunter Boroff

Hunter Boroff is a returning JV wrestler who is in his 3rd year in the sport. Boroff should make 152 and compete well at this weight. Boroff could very easily be a SQ. Boroff has one season of varsity experience.

160:Tim Massey/Charlie Shoulders/Sean Corrigan

Massey, Shoulders, and Corrigan are all first-time wrestlers. Only time will tell who wins this spot and how well they will compete.

171:Kyle Durbin/Damon Mays

Kyle Durbin is the sophomore returning starter this weight. Durbin placed 5th in Region 5 in 2008. Damon Mays will contend for the spot as he did last year, but Durbin is the front-runner. Durbin has one season of varsity experience.

189:Menes McNeely/Damon Mays

Menes McNeely is the Junior returning starter at this weight. McNeely placed 5th at 189lbs. in Region 5 in 2008. McNeely has one season of varsity experience

215: ??

A football player will most likely fill this spot.

285:Tyler Beckett

Tyler Beckett is a Senior returning 3-time State Qualifier placing 3rd in Region 5 in 2008. Beckett posted a 1-2 record at HWT in the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships in 06,07, and 08.

The final line-up will look very similar to this. The jury is still out as to whether or not Luna is wrestling or not this year.

Luna will wrestle, why wouldn't he?  There always has to be some shroud sorrounding his season.  He will wrestle.  The question is what weight is he looking at?

I don't think he wants to. He hasn't showed at practice and he's been at school. But if he does decide to wrestle he'd probably be at 119/125. He would've wrestled 119 last year but since he came in so late he wasn't able to get certified there in time.

Okay first off let me start by saying im not judging anybody but... I'm sorry but im so sick of hearing about the Luna saga. He's on, he's off, he's back on, then he's back off. There comes a point when it is the coaches responsibility to get rid of someone like this. I don't care how good he is, or used to be. Will somebody please just tell him not to waste his time coming out because chances are, he'll quit before the season is over.

You're right about Luna having been on again/off again -- but at the beginning of the season. I don't believe he's ever quit before the season was over. Check the stats --He placed 6th at state in 2005, 8th grade; 4th at state in 2006, 9th grade; didn't qualify in 2007; placed 6th at state this year as a junior.

Has he ever reached his potential or made good on the promise he showed as an 8th grader? No. But I've never known him to quit before the season was over, and he's consistently been a contender. If he doesn't show up this year, it will be a shame, since he's a senior. If he does, he'll bring it, as he has every year.

Luna actually got beat out by Roderick Shoulders in the final wrestle off in 2007, who ended up a round from placing. Also, Luna has littler time to decide against quitting as our coach told me he wouldn't allow him to come in late this year
