Uof L AD “talking stage” of adding more varsity sports.

Recommended Posts

Wouldnt this be a great time to let UofL AD hear from the wrestling community? Schools, coaches, wrestlers, fans,KYSWA, KHSAA, grandma, grandpa ect. need to let UofL know we support NCAA wrestling.

University of Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich said this week he is in the “talking stage” of adding more varsity sports.

What sports should they be?

U of L is moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference, which holds championships in two sports that the Cardinals currently lack on the varsity level: men’s lacrosse and wrestling. ACC teams also participate in a some other sports U of L could consider: men’s and women’s fencing and women’s gymnastics.

U of L also has club teams in rugby and ice hockey, but those aren’t on the ACC’s varsity roster, either.

https://www.facebook.com/questions/10151278602196993/  Go to the link, they are polling the public about which sport to add,

Wrestling only has 45 votes, come on, go vote for adding Wrestling at University of Louisville!

People on this site need to go vote and take over the poll leave no doubt that Wrestling is the sport to add.

Tom Jurich's son wrestled at Ballard. I saw him many times sneak in to watch his son. Can't say the same for his football coach, John L who had a son wrestle at Louisville, Eastern.

Uh, Maryland is a Big Ten school ;)! Pitt has a decent program and will be joining soon. Clemson had a great team with a roster full of Pennsylvania kids when I wrestled them in the early 1990s including Sammy "the bull" Henson. It's a great conference and UoL would fit quite nicely with a wrestling team.

The thing that bugs me about Lacrosse is that

1. It isn't even a varsity sport nor a popular sport in Kentucky

2. Participation numbers for wrestling are WAY higher nationwide (wrestling is 5th, I think Lacrosse is like 9th)
