blah 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 What is the format for the state duals anyway? Are they in 4 pools, they round robin then match up AB and CD then wrestle again for championship? This sounds like they way it would be conducted but just checking.
wrestlejoe 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 If I remember correctly... yes... that is the format... but they usually don't set the pools until the morning of the duals.
ubtappin 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Do they start Friday evening or Saturday morning?
supernat 11 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 State duals will be Saturday only. They usually seed the top four teams. After that they place the four other Regional winners into a pool. Then the coaches make sure that the #2 seeds from each region are placed on to the opposite side of the bracket from their region's winner.

I-pinned-em-all 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Does anyone have the results of head to head duals with each team?I believe Larue beat Trinity in a dual, therefore, how can Trinity be a number one seed? Opinion rankings are one thing, but factual results should prevail.Did Union beat Larue in a dual?Did Union wrestle Trinity in a dual?Unfortunately, Campbell County hasn't wrestled any of the top 5 teams. supernat 11 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I know Union Co. has lost to Tates Creek. I believe they have also lost to a couple of other teams as well. In reality Woodford Co. or Campbell Co. might have the claim to #1, I was not aware that Union beat Trinity.

BigBossMan 21 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I don't think Larue and Trinity have wrestled.Only the top 4 teams are seeded. I think that the other 4 region winners draw into a pool. Then the runner-ups draw into a pool. Top for from information presented so far:Pool A:(#1) TrinityPool B:(#4) Woodford Co.Pool C:(#2) Campbell Co./Larue Co.Pool D:(#3) Campbell Co./Larue Co.Doesn't matter between #2 & #3 seeds really, just #4. KYgrappler 4 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 I see them being seeded as such: 1)Trinity2) Larue3) Woodford4) UnionAnd if SoOldham drops out does that mean NorthOld gets their spot or the host team (Henry Clay) gets to wrestle?

Ranger123 43 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Ahhh. This changes quite a bit. Unseed campbell co., imo.Not sure about that. I have heard that only the teams that come in as #1 from their region are considered for seeding. Ryle will come in as #2 from Region 6. That's why I say one of the seeded teams will be quite unlucky to have Ryle in their pool. If you knock Campbell out of the seedings, then I predict possibly 2 of the top seeds will not win their pool. IMO.
KYgrappler 4 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Oh, I was not aware of that rule. But I know some coaches won't care. You have to beat the best to be the best, so why not do it earlier in the day?

Ranger123 43 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Oh, I was not aware of that rule. But I know some coaches won't care. You have to beat the best to be the best, so why not do it earlier in the day?Having the tougher road can really affect the lineup by the finals. Imagine Trinity has to battle through Ryle, Johnson Central, and Oldham in the pool, then have Larue in the semis and Campbell in the final. I use this example because Ohlmann would have a tough 4 matches before Brown in the final. Brown could have wrestled 4 fish up to that point and barely broken a sweat. So overall it is obviously better to have an easier road into the finals to increase your chances of being fresh for the big dual.

I-pinned-em-all 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 Ryle is clearly a top 5, even top 3 team in the state. The tournament will be much more exciting with Ryle present. Can someone shed some light on much Ruschell paid Wilburs(SK coach) to get the spot!
