    Justin Davis

Justin Davis please contact me through personal messaging. I have some incredible professional pictures of Justin wrestling Korey Shotwell and would like to share them both with Justin and KentuckyWrestling.com. I would like to have Justin's permission before placing them on the web. I will email the pictures or mail a disc to Justin. Unfortunately, the 30 pictures are only of him wrestling my son but I thought he still might like to have them. Justin is intense and physically ripped in the pictures.

    best wrestling family

It's all about statistics. I know there are a million Ervins, they are all classy individuals. But do they bat a "thousand"? Only the Cole's bat a 1000.

    best wrestling family

The Cole family still has to be considered one of the top, if not the top. Cole family batting average: 100% 3 wrestling Coles, 3 state champs. Todd Cole 155 champ, 145 runner-up. Todd beat up Kentucky's 1981 All American causing him to move up to 167. Todd was an animal. Tom Cole 132 champ. Tom was in a car accident and broke his femur in half requiring surgery. He was unable to wrestle his sophomore and junior year. As a senior, he pinned through districts, regions and state. Troy Cole. As an 8th grader he forfeited the state championship to a kid he beat twice during the year. Troy could and should have been Ky's first 8th grade state champ. 4th place as a freshman(had a belly full of eggs he had to lay, lol) State champ 138 and 145 MOW.State runner up at 155 his senior year. Is there any other family with multiple wrestlers who have a 100% state champ average? If you are a Cole, you are a state champ.

    Most Outstanding Wrestler

The records I posted were Korey's as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Korey has lost to and beaten very good wrestlers in the last 3 years. Justin is the very best kid he has wrestled including the top kids in Ohio. Justin could easily go and be very successful in division I NCAA. He is a take down machine. Justin is the only wrestler Korey has been unable to take down. Justin is very impressive.

    Most Outstanding Wrestler

Justin Davis is very deserving of the MOW. Korey Shotwell gave him his very best moves and Justin stopped everything. I was extremely impressed with Justin. Korey's record in high school is 54-4, 58-5 (3 losses to Bryan Peace) , and now 62-4. Korey has wrestled and beat the top kids in Ohio division 1, 2 and 3 and none of them compare to the athleticism and quality of Justin Davis. I am a huge Justin Davis fan. If he wrestles in college, he will make a very impressive mark in the NCAA. As a side note, has a 103 or 112 pounder ever won MOW. I have never been to a tournament where a light weight (103/112) has won MOW. Are coaches not impressed with the light guys??

KY Best coaches past and present; middle and high school

Coach Smith, thank you for giving Coach Badida accolades. I love the man and believe he is a living Adolph Rupp. If I may, I need to correct a few of your stats. Please forgive me. Coach Badida had the first 5 time state finalist. Joe Carr Jr being the other. Robbie Clarkston was a runner up as an 8th grader. I still like to put a statistical spin and state that Coach Badida remains the "only" coach in Kentucky history to "ever" have a 5 time state finalist and 4 year consecutive state champ. He also had a 3 time state champ, Pat Martz. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Pat Martz may have been a runner up as well, making him a 4 time state finalist. Troy Cole is the other 4 time finalist. His dossier is amazing and too long to list. Most importantly, Coach Badida is a gentleman, a mentor to many wrestlers and young men, and an admirable man who would never sacrifice principle for glory. Coach Tim Ruschell and Coach Rick Barker( 3 time champ) are no doubt a phenomenal duo. Coach Barker is very technical while Coach Ruschell tows the hard line. This combination will make Ryle the next the generational power house in Kentucky. Of course, given all of Woodford County's accomplishments, they will not be dethroned for decades to come.

    REGION 5

I am very pleased Justin Davis is wrestling next week. To deprive the 140 wt class with the top ranked wrestler would rob not only Justin the opportunity to possibly repeat, but also rob his competitors from the opportunity to wrestle a champion and possibly fulfil their dreams. The true champion of 140 can now be determined rather than debated.

    Region 6 results?

I was very impressed with Scott's 152 pounder, region 6's MOW. He may be able to give Isaac Irvin a good match.

    Region 6 results?

Ryle looked fantastic today. Next week will be a nail biter between Ryley and Trinity. If Ryle wins next week, it would not be considered an upset. They are very solid and seem to be firing on all cylinders.

Thanks for the commission offer, but no thanks. Seriously, too many times parents, me included, have great intentions of taking pictures and capturing precious moments. Unfortunately, if parents are like me, there always seems to be a distraction. At the end of a big event, I am left with distant red eye pictures from cell phones and disposable cameras. By hiring a professional photographer for 3 days to take pictures of your son, parents can relax and enjoy. After the tournament it is fun to go through all of the pictures. His pictures provide a timeless preservation of the state tournament energy. I thought it would be good to offer this to other kids and parents. If people want it, then great, if not, well that's OK too.

Lee contacted me and indicated several parents would like to pay on Thursday at the tournament and he has agreed to this. He also told me each wrestler will likely have well more than 100 pictures providing they don't quick pin every match in 10 seconds and they don't go 2 and out. Lee will be staying at the Civic center all 3 nights so you can also meet him in the room for additional pictures. As of last count, there were not many spots left. If > 25 wrestlers sign up, he will hire another photographer to provide full coverage.

Lee Redmond's website is listed. http://www.whereimagescometolife.com For the record, any wrestler who signs up with Lee Redmond photography will get to date one of the pretty girls under "senior photography". I am very surprised parents are not jumping on this deal. Lee Redmond will be at the 3 day tournament. Normally, it cost thousands of dollars to hire a photography, especially for 3 full days.
