Kentuckywrestling.com 2023-24 Season Rankings - February 7

Recommended Posts

Well, it definitely took a lot longer than anticipated.  And I wanted to spend some time looking at region brackets that have already been posted to make weight adjustments, but decided against it.  It is what it is.  I'm sure some kids will make weight adjustments going into the post season, but we will figure that out over the weekend.

There will be a number of weight classes that are very deep at certain regionals this weekend.  That will set up some interesting early round matchups at the horse park.  It also just occurred to me that the guys will have a quick turnaround (so will I for the report, ugh).  Saturday to Thursday and a 2 day weigh in could create a road block for those not managing weight well.

Team race continues to develop.  No change at the top with Union in the commanding lead.  I think Paducah Tilghman has a slight edge for the runner-up spot, although coming out of the same region as Union doesn't help in the draws.  I have Great Crossing and Ryle just behind PT, but ahead of the pack chasing a trophy.  Interesting enough, teams 5-8 (Trinity, OC, JC, and Boyle) are in a virtual dead heat.

Just out curiosity, what wins does Mayberry from union have that keeps him at #5 @113

His best wins are in Tenn and Indiana.

what wins do #6-#9 have (aside from beating each other) that would suggest they should move ahead of him?

Thank you Ranger for doing the rankings it is definitely Appreciated by a lot more people than not. With that being said Rider has decided to stay at 150.  (should be an exciting bracket at state). Thanks Again can’t wait for the Ranger Report.

Gotcha.  Yeah, that's why I sort of wanted to wait for region entries, but our coaches meeting isn't until Thursday, so oh well.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't post very much at all, but wanted to say thank you for your work and make a couple of notes in case they were missed.

If you noticed these and your algorithm or process says to do otherwise.....no problem

Ethan Peckenpaugh 175 has beat Ohio County and Christian County ranked athletes at the weight and took Apollo to overtime the last time they wrestled.

He placed third at jv state. I know it's "jv state" and not "varsity contest" but would you consider that or no?

I have also noticed on the regional bracket that Daviess County wrestler at 215 is not listed. He was a really good wrestler and seemed like a good kid. If he's not listed to wrestle for the post season, would that change things. In state, you place top 8, so I'm assuming that may change team totals a bit. Is it enough to count, I'm not sure. That's your call.

Good question.  He is definitely on the radar as the bottom 10 or so of 175 is a mess with crazy results.  I did miss that win over Davidson (Chr Co) and a couple unranked losses sort of outweighed the Daviess co win.

Yes Daviess County 215 Nicodemus is out for the year with a wrist injury. At least he was a State Placer last season just been that kinda year for our team. He is a great kid and will be missed next year as he is a senior but will do great things at U of L where he will attend.

How is Daviess County holding so high on the 120 when he’s only beat one ranked kid. He was on the way to getting tech’d by Ohio County’s boy and got a medical forfeit . He got pinned by the 28th 126 a couple weeks ago. The kid is a high future prospect and I’m not trying to take away from him but he has only faced three ranked opponents all year and it’s disrespectful to some of the 120’s beneath him.

Prove it on the mat kid. And if you happen to be the kids daddy then tell Junior to prove it the Matt.

Solid comeback. You get a 5.8 out of 10 for trying to sound tough. Also it’s a mat not a Matt.

Thanks for the grammar lesson pops.  Anybody complaining or questioning this man’s rankings obviously has their head in their ass.
