VisionQuest 64 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 District 1 - 174 wrestlers District 2 - 29 wrestlers, 21 of these Larue County District 3 - 69 wrestlers District 4 - 75 wrestlers District 5 - 70 wrestlers District 6 - 96 wrestlers District 7 - 113 wrestlers District 8 - 118 wrestlers Region 1 - 203 Region 2 - 144 Region 3 - 166 Region 4 - 231 Realignment needs to be looked at by the KMSWA. I know travel is an issue for teams. Shift a few teams from district 1 to district 2 a possibility. Possibly move a team from district 7 or 8 to another. Little too late for this year but possible for next year.

ukpridewrestler11 276 Report post Posted January 15, 2017 I'd say district 1 needs a little moving around on the team placements. 170 participants is more than Region 2 as a whole!
Ranger123 43 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 I'm sure the KSWA staff will be looking into this after the season. As someone who spent a lot of time reviewing these numbers in the past I will say realignment is NOT an easy process and as soon as you think you have it solved there will be other things come up. So many teams/clubs go through cycles with their numbers that it is a never-ending process.
Nolans Dad 36 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Do these numbers move up and down each year? Or is this a trend?

I know in District 6, Turkeyfoot Middle dropped their program, which was 20-30 strong a few years ago. Same thing in District 5---one team was added, but two dropped, both of which used to have full teams.
Ranger123 43 Report post Posted January 16, 2017 Some are up, some are down. McCracken is a huge addition out west. They should be strong for the foreseeable future so a realignment should recognize this. N KY is down the last year or so (used to be the strongest in numbers and depth) and may need some adjustments. The Lexington area has been growing recently too. Good to see solid numbers in district 8 this year.
