Did Quentin Cox wrestle last year for Union? And good to see Stephen Little back on the mat. Kid is an athlete.

I'm with grappler-of-old just give me kids but I don't think at my school it will help maybe one or two a year truth wrestling is just a lot of dedication and work and a lot of todays kids just don't want to work that hard. But I am here for the ones that do.

I look at this in 3 different categories: Does this impact safety of the wrestlers? Is this mandatory and forcing change (aka more money to be spent)? Does this open a door for more participation? After doing a mental checklist - what the heck took so long?!? Do I think that kids will always find excuses to not participate - absolutely. Do I think that phasing this in and giving this a try is a good idea - ABSOLUTELY. This isnt set in stone people. This is a trial and we as a state should feel honored that we are the guinea pigs for it! Heck, we might try it for a year and figure out that its a bad idea, but at least we tried. KENTUCKY of all states was willing to buck the trend and try something that could possibly positively change the sport. I applaud the KHSAA for taking a step up and offering to be a test state. Good luck to all with the trial!

Now all we have to do is tell them no running and plenty of games during practice. Thatll keep kids from quitting also and then they can tell everyone how fun it is. Theres always gonna be the people that say they wont do it because of a singlet but even if they had this uniform, which now they have to pay for, their going to see how intense practices are and then stray away. Youve gotta find a way to connect with the kids and show them that yes, it does take alot of hard work and determination, but they can also have fun with a portion of their practices. I just think having one or the other will make some kids feel inadequate becuase they might not be able to afford the cool mma uniform which instantly becomes a negative effect on the wrestler.

We live in Jefferson County (Louisville), but I agree with North... If you want a balance of the best academics and athletics (including wrestling) in a public school setting, I think the schools in Oldham County outside of Louisville are at the top of the list in the state of Kentucky, particularly North Oldham middle and high schools.

You should look hard at Oldham county (North, South, East, or Oldham)....arguably the best public school system in the state & nice programs for both wrestling and baseball. One thing to keep in mind is that middle school wrestling in KY is a hybrid school & club association. So club teams (river city & shamrock) don't have a destination school requirement.....e.g. kids can be destined for any high school. The school teams have more restrictions & kids must attend that school or a feeder elementry school.
