KentuckyWrestling.com HS Rankings - 2006/2007 January 10

Recommended Posts

Lots of great action the past few weekends.  And think it is safe to say a couple weight classes will be a complete war in Frankfort.  Thanks to the good folks at Woodford County for supplying me with a completed bracket.  Team-wise, I see Woodford starting to create a gap on the pack, assuming they have everyone at weight, healthy, and eligible.  No dual team rankings yet.  Maybe next week.

Badgett should be way higher than 12 place at 103...

and Jarvis from Union wont place that high... i wrestled him in folkstyle at Ryle during freestyle season and he only beat me by like one i think...

and someone please tell me how Valley is ranked higher than doss in the state... Doss hasnt lost to Valley all year...

Who has Elam or Salyer wrestled this year to be ranked in the top 6 @ 103? I heard Salyer and Troxell were close, and the FC kid from Middle School beat Troxell.

Right off the top of my head I know Elam beat Whitehouse and Osbourne at the Ryle rumble.

Badgett has had an okay season at 112, so it is hard to tell if he has improved over last year.  Plus, I don't know how much cutting the weight might take out of him.  Let him prove himself over the next couple weeks and he will move up.

Lots of things happen in the off season.  Since he has been on the mat for some varsity meets I have been impressed with Elam.  He might flop at state, but I don't think so.  And like my last post says, I know he has beaten at least 2 guys in the top 10.

I'm not going to respond to you team ranking question.  Please read the 10 million posts that have addressed this issue.

For some reason this is one that Coach Coomes and I agree on.  If Sullivan is at 103, we have the same top 5.  And if he moves Dalton Evans to 112 then we agree on the top 6.

He is Eastern's coach and president of the coaches association.  He puts out the coaches association rankings.

No, thats okay, I just kind of laugh when I have wrestled the top 2, I lost but definately not by a landslide, but I just keep going down. Pinning 18 of my 22 wins. I just wish I could wrestle the others in front of me, but all will come out @ State.

You're not laughing it's more like you're crying. I think ranger does a good job with his rankings. You want to critique Rangers rankings but you've not made a case for yourself. You did mention that 18 of your 22 wins were pins but who did you pin? Give us some names. Heck I don't even know who you are so please give us some details as to why you should be ranked higher.

I don't think Sullivan will have a problem staying down at 105...(even though I think it would be better for his college career if he stayed heavier at 112/114) I also think Malcom Jackson will take Peace, although I think Peace has the technique I think Jackson has the heart. I think 215 will be Winter and Chaney in the finals...with Winter coming out on top, call me crazy but when I saw him at Dunbar region duels he just seemed to have an unorthodox style no one can handle . Also i think after Byrd's loss he'll have the determination to run away with state, although you never know what will happen with the heavies.

I saw Sullivan at Wayne County duels this weekend and he seemed like a big 114 let alone a 105, but I don't know what he weighed in at so you never know. Also after seeing Byrd lose at state last year, unless he has a new found motivation and passion for wrestling, losing doesn't motivate the kid, I just get the feeling he is just going through the motions. But even after saying that I still think he is talented enough to come away with a state ring this year.

Anybody who thinks Jarvis Elam is ranked to high this year hasn't seen him wrestle this year.

He is as fast as lightning, decent technique, has a great group to work out with, and Union Co. goes to as many tough meets as possible.

I'm not sure what his record is, but I would take Elam with a few losses over most other kids because I know where he has wrestled.

btw, I'm not associated with Union Co.

Don't forget to tell the whole story, at WCI Vaughn beat Downs and Mitchell beat Davis.

At both 125 and 130, I didn't juggle things up too much as those appeared to be pretty big upsets at JCTC.  I'm still not sold on Seeders yet.  If I see a little more out of Seeders (another decent win) then I'll be a believer.
