Mike Frankrone 20 Report post Posted May 12, 2015 Does Anyone know if there is a weight allowance at this tournament? I can't find any info on their website.
CCMS_SC 59 Report post Posted May 12, 2015 At USAW events there is no allowance, but you do get bumped up automatically if you miss weight. http://usawevents.sportngin.com/page/show/1670180-weigh-ins-medical http://usawevents.sportngin.com/page/show/1670178-divisions
sbfraz 8 Report post Posted May 13, 2015 If you go to Fargo, you cannot wrestle a lower weight than you do at Central Regionals. You can go up but you can't go down.
Captain America 93 Report post Posted May 13, 2015 That has not been the case over the years , regional placers had the choice .Kids even wrestled different weights in each style at Fargo most go up and I have seen some even drop
sbfraz 8 Report post Posted May 13, 2015 This is from themat.com. It may only be true for certain age divisions. I'm not sure. "Please be aware that wrestlers are not allowed to DROP in weight class from the regional to the nationals. Whatever weight class the wrestler weigh-ins at for the regional (not necessarily competes at, but what the scale actually reads) is the lowest weight class the wrestler is eligible to compete at for the nationals." The above info is for the Kids Nationals. For Cadet and Junior Regionals, I believe weight class options are controlled at the State level. I know in Ohio, you can choose any weight class at Fargo if you qualify via a Regional. Also, new this year, the top 4 at Regionals qualify for Fargo, not the top 3 as in the past. I think the flexibility on picking a weight class is because Regional qualifiers don't count against the fixed numbers that each State is allowed, so a Regional qualifier can't knock out a wrestler that qualified at the state level because the weight class is full, they are just added on as extra wrestlers. Grappler 19 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 Tanner Yenter went 1-2 at Junior 113. Brady Wells went 3-2 at cadet 120. For the very limited amount of practice they have had in Greco. They competed very well.
ccbcdeke 43 Report post Posted May 19, 2015 At the body bar women's nationals they had the first ever NCAA sanctioned Greco matches between some colleges in tx. Pretty cool idea to increase the pool of Greco athletes for the world teams.
