KY_WAR_VET 3 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 Who wins this region, Lafayette or Henry Clay? Will Wayne be in the mix?
pmiller13 14 Report post Posted February 13, 2014 HC top wrestlers Hernandez *2, Tuduri, Whalen, Moore. They should do well for sure. There are four others that could wrestle well. On paper HC has the strongest team. However, this is where everyone brings their A game.
takedown wins 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 I think HC, WC, and LAF will all be real close heading into the finals. On paper, I give Wayne a slight edge.
supernat 11 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 1. Henry Clay 2. Wayne Co. 3. Lafayette 4. Madison Central 5. Tates Creek 6. Madison Southern 7. Boyle Co. 8. Danville 9. Whitley Co. 10. Bryan Station 11. PLD 12. McCreary Central 5-10 is really close it just depends on who comes to wrestle. McCreary Central only has six wrestlers that puts them at a disadvantage. I really feel as if Henry Clay dominates.
pmiller13 14 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 I have not seen Wayne this year. Some of their guys have really good records. Should be interesting.
KY_WAR_VET 3 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 I like seeing the rural county schools do well. I think it is so much harder for them to put a complete team together.
takedown wins 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 I think there is two groups Wayne, HC & Laf. Group two teams are mad central, Tates Creek, Bryan Station, Danville, Boyle and mad southern have the guns to finish 4 if they wrestle.
takedown wins 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 I disagree with the county schools. Most of those teams have middle school programs, where Lexington schools don't get the support from there school system.
KY_WAR_VET 3 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 But kids live so far away from that school at it is sometimes difficult for families to get their kids to and from practices, and there are no schools and gyms to go to for higher level instruction like a Carr Gym or Gyms in Louisville and greater Cincinnati area. Plus you have to travel so far just to get a match. Not too many good matches during the week, just weekend tourney's. I agree the middle school feeders may help, but larger cities have a lot better club wrestling and off season wrestling opportunities.
takedown wins 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 Most kids can't afford the Carr academy, but coming from a county system and now seeing the city system, I think it favors the counties. My sophomore year, the closest teams were over an hour away. I do understand it's tough for both sides.
