tiger 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2011 This is rather sad. I wonder if the priciple/AD consulted with a physician before maing this call? If they did then the physicain needs to be educated. Even if the raccoon was rabid and one of the wrestlers was infected with the virus there was absolutley ZERO chance of spreading the disease to other competitors. Without going into all the pathophysiology and epidemiology of rabies transmission lets just say it takes well over 24hrs for an infected person to be shedding the virus in their own saliva. If they really wanted to be over protective then they should have let them wrestle and possible considered post exposure rabies treatment for all the individuals that actually touched the raccoon.
