workhard 28 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 I was going to take my three sons until I saw a post saying we would be billed 15.00 per bracket. We always sign up in two brackets to try and get at least 4 matches. We have been to many of these post season tourneys and only have a couple guys in our brackets. We travel too far and spend too much time for only one or two matches. dinubus 2 Report post Posted March 13, 2009 Wrestlers,I am all for wrestling anywhere we can, but you are not covered at an AAU tournament with a USA Wrestling Card. it is two different entities. USA Wrestling Corporate Office said that due to Insurance issues AAU tournaments are not Sanctioned USA Wrestling Tournaments. I would recommend buying the AAU card.Or not go, there are much less AAU tournaments. I ended up finding out that this tournament does require the AAU card and will not accept the USA. There are very many USA tournaments, and not enough AAU to even bother with purchasing that card!
MatMama 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2009 I've attended this tournament for years, and I think today was the best. Good turnout, well-run, and some good competition at the high school level. Besides some wrestlers from Ohio, a number of Kentucky wrestlers were there -- some from Woodford, Ryle, Simon Kenton, Eastern, Wayne Co. It's now a qualifier for the Tournament of Champions in Columbus, Ohio. That's why they required the AAU card.
dinubus 2 Report post Posted March 15, 2009 Never heard of the Tournament of Champions in Columbus, OH. I have heard of the Regional Held there over Memorial weekend. I have also heard of the border wars (doesnt require AAU) which qualifies for a nationals held at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek / Kalamazoo Michigan.

I liked that this tournament was closer and is in April as opposed to Michigan in November. http://www.ohiotofc.com/

Ranger123 43 Report post Posted March 28, 2009 So they grouped these very little and young guys by 10 lbs? That is over 20% of their body weight - and that is ridiculousThose are just the weight classes that were used at the event. As far as I was aware there were no great weight disparities. Definitely not to the point of being rediculous. My son was one of the largest differences (as far as %) and he was fine.
