Region 1 Rankings 12/07/15

Recommended Posts

Nobody has really wrestled each other yet so this update will mostly be weight fixes and putting new people

106
1. Kaleb Sapp, Ohio County (1)
2. Daniel Knight, Christian County (2)
3. Gabe Adams, Union County (UR)

4. Keegan Slone, Trigg County (3)
5. Billy Eggers, Fort Campbell (4)
6. Ethan Wells, UHA (UR)

Adams and Wells make their rankings debut, not quite sure where to put them since this is their first year of high school competition so we will wait and see with them.

113
1. Dale Robertson, Hoptown (1)
2. Austin Grant-Hall, Christian County (2)
3. Billy Pride, Union County (UR)
4. Isaac Aguier, Trigg County (UR)
5. Jack Probus, Ohio County (UR)
6. Ride Suda-Dodson, Fort Campbell (UR)

Hamilton won't be making 113 until after christmas it seems. Grant-Hall looked good but keeping him at second for now since if he did wrestle Robertson the results haven't been inputed into track.

120
1. Saul Ervin, Union County (126)
2. Nick Dickerson, Calloway County (126)

3. Cameron Dearmond, Hoptown (126)
4. Seth Slayton, Cadwell County (UR)
5. Ray Hamilton, Paducah Tilghman (113)

6. Ishmael Griffie, Christian County (UR)

A whole bunch of weight changes here. Slayton picks up the win over Hamilton. Second place currently appears to be a battle between Dickerson and Dearmond which should be interesting.

126
1. Devontae Turner, Trigg County (132)
2. Sam Yates, Hoptown (UR)
3. Rylan Ervin, Union County (UR)
4. Jaelin Smith, Christian County (UR)
5. Shane Grey, Ohio County (UR)
6. Aaron Merrit, Fort Campbell (UR)

With all the people I expected to be here down at 120 I had a tough time filling this weight out.  Turner gets the nod right now but I think any of those top 3 guys could win it.

132
1. Bryce Sheffer, Union County (138)
2. Camerin Cole, Christian County (1)
3. Scott Ruttman, Calloway County (2)
4. Zach McCoy, Ohio County (126)
5. Kaleb O'Campo, Caldwell County (UR)
6. Hunter Vlach, McCracken County (UR)

The top three at this weight is very good. Sheffer is looking for a state title but Cole and Ruttman can snatch podium finishes. Fourth place is a little hazy right now but I will give it to McCoy based off what I currently have.

138
1. Chance Oxford, Union County (152)
2. Chance Collins, UHA (3)
3. Louie Regaldo, Fort Campbell (120)

4. Jacob Bellah, Calloway County (4)
5. Antonio Abren, Christian County (5)
6. Zlato Skuljan, Hoptown (UR)

Even without Sheffer and Kline this is probably the toughest weight in the region. All of the top 4 could place in the state and the top 3 are eyeing the Top 4 places. A couple tough wrestlers couldn't even make the top 6 here, thus I predict the weights may shift around a bit as the season progresses.

145
1. Jackson Oxford, Union County (160)
2. Kobe Perry, Christian County (1)
3. Alex Curl, Fort Campbell (126)
4. Justin Crabtree, Trigg County (4)
5. Chase Arnold, Ohio County (UR)
6. Jon Paredes, Caldwell County (UR)

This is another weight I expect to change, Curl won't be here by the end of the season I believe. Perry and Oxford is a good match up.

152
1. Isaiah Lawson, Hoptown (170)
2. Corbin Ryder, Fort Campbell (145)
3. Braden Sperry, Caldwell County (182)
4. Micah Ervin, Union County (UR)
5. Jack Haynes, Calloway County (UR)

6. Malik Cunningham, Trigg County (3)

152 went from hazy to insane in the span of about a week after some huge weight changes from the likes of Lawson and Sperry. Like 138 there are several very tough wrestlers I couldn't put in the top 6. In terms of depth 152 may be the deepest weight in the region although I assume Ryder will drop to 145 eventually. Fixed to put Haynes in the rankings, I have him over Malik based on Haynes being a returning SQ but this weight is again very deep and very close.

160
1. Diion Leavell, Christian County (2)
2. Caleb Riley, Caldwell County (3)
3. Evan Martin, McCracken County (138)
4. Mario Perez, Calloway County (UR)

5. Zeke Hatfield, Ohio County (UR)
6. Matt Livingston, Trigg County (UR)

This weight is very sparse compared to how insane 152 is. It is quite possible that a few 152's may try their hand at bumping up if they struggle with how deep 152 is. Leavell is a pretty solid first in this group.

170
1. Avery Buckman, Union County (2)
2. Keyven Sells, Christian County (3)
3. Dylan Grey, Caldwell County (4)
4. Josh Thweatt, Trigg County (UR)
5. Dayton Keeling, Fort Campbell (UR)
6. Dylan Bell, Calloway County (UR)

The top three at this weight remains extremely tough but finding wrestlers from fourth down was a struggle.

182
1. Katayvon Anthony, Hoptown (1)
2. David Woods, Calloway County (UR)
3. Daniel Moll, Caldwell County (UR)
4. Alex Billiter, Christian County (4)
5. Aaron Allen, Ohio County (UR)
6. Taylor Hampton, Trigg County (UR)

2-6 is a toss up right now. How Moll handles giving up weight will determine his success here.

195
1. Cole Sherman, Union County (220)
2. Anthony Adkinson, Fort Campbell (2)
3. Jackson Fitzgerald, Paducah Tilghman (UR)
4. Mark Diaz, Trigg County (UR)
5. Jake Miller, Hoptown (UR)
6. Markus Green, Christian County (UR)

Sherman won't be touched by anyone at this weight.

220
1. Conner Sherman, Union County (285)
2. Kjauwan Major, Christian County (2)
3. Phil Bradley, UHA (195)

4. Tige Littlefield, Caldwell County (285)
5. Colby Culver, Calloway County (UR)
6. Deion Lane, Hoptown (UR)

Outside of Sherman the results here should be fairly wide open. A lot of interesting potential match ups

285
1. David Nikolao, Fort Campbell (1)
2. Chance Orr, Paducah Tilghman (22)
3. Logan Thomas, Hoptown (3)
4. David Clark, Calloway County (5)
5. Bryce Chandler, Union County (UR)

6. Mahlon Ray, Christian County (6)

Nikolao is now the pretty solid favorite. Not sure if Orr will stay up at heavyweight but he offers some good athleticism. Third place will be a battle between some tough guys at this rate.

Team Race

1. Union County (42.5)

Union looked vulnerable for a moment only for them to immediately regain untouchability. Only one or two gaps in their lineup at the moment.

2. Christian County (27)

County still leads the best of the rest with a very dangerous and young lineup.

3. Hopkinsville (23.5)

Some big weight changes pushes Hoptown back into the spotlight. Isaiah Lawson leads a group of respected wrestlers in Hoptown's usual dark horse status.

4. Fort Campbell (17)

Weight is a big factor in Fort Campbell as the question of how Regaldo and Curl will handle the weight jumps. Once that is settled we will be able to see where Fort Campbell stands in the region.

5(t). Calloway County (12.5)

As consolation for myself missing Haynes (thus breaking the tie at 5th) I will do full team rankings. Thanks for catching wrestlers I missed. Caldwell, Calloway, Trigg, and Ohio are neck to neck. Trigg would probably hold the 5th place spot if Kline was in the rankings but until I hear information from the Trigg camp concerning Kline I'll keep him out for now, but definitely do not forget the proven all-star wrestler.

6. Caldwell County (12)
7. Trigg County (11.5)
8. Ohio County (8.5)
9(t). Paducah Tilghman (5.5)
9(t). UHA (5.5)
11. McCracken County (2.5)

Cmon Rob going ahead and do your region rankings too. Thanks for doing this even though you coach at Moore now. See you somewhere this season.

Probably going to head down and see the Christian County tournament, it's right after we get back from GMVWA. Otherwise I won't be seeing any region 1 until state

Good job with the rankings. Don't know if it was an oversight or intentional but you omitted Jack Hanes from Calloway. 2X Returning state qualifier. Wrestled at 152 this past weekend. Definitely a top 4 in that weight class.

I'm not sure who I'd put higher Sperry or Haynes. 152 is extremely deep as I said, Haynes may only be at 5th right now. He should be in instead of McCoy though

Even if you add Haynes into that 152 group one good wrestler will end up being an alternate. The only one I could see dropping to 145 is Sperry. So can Haynes get wins over Malik or Micah? At this point in the season I see Haynes at the fifth spot... But is capable of beating 1 through 5.

I wouldn't be surprised if Corbin drops to 145, he is capable of it but it depends on what Louie and Curl do. Haynes could win over Malik for sure, good match though. Micah is a wild card, people forget that before Saul and Brock the Ervin's were a family of middle weights. I don't think Micah compares to Caleb at the moment though, it took even a great like Luke Ervin a couple years to reach his potential
