Region 1 Rankings 12/17/12

Recommended Posts

The team race right now is EXTREMELY close for second. It is basically a battle between Fort Campbell and Christian with Ohio, UHA, Paducah, Trigg, and Caldwell very close behind. It might come down to who has the most bonus point wins. This is going to be the last major shakeup in the rankings for awhile as we have a pretty slow week coming up. Caldwell saw a few upsets occur, big changes at heavyweight on the way.

106

1. Bryce Sheffer, Union (1)

2. Travon Thacker, Hoptown (2)

3. Wes Gray, Caldwell (4)

4. Tyler Ward, Apollo (3)

5. Zenon Rodriguez, Paducah (5)

6. Kaleb Sapp, Ohio (6)

Dropping out: None

Gray's good matches puts him over Tyler Ward here. 106 as usual is one of the strongest weights in region 1 with most kids having the ability not only to beat each other but beat just about anyone else in the state. Keep in eye on Fort Campbell's new 106 who was beating Sapp before making a mistake and getting caught on his back.

113

1. Robert Dezember, Union (1)

2. Jeremiah Kline, Trigg (2)

3. Asa Odoms, Christian (3)

4. Anthony DeWitt, Fort Campbell (4)

5. Chris Barham, Graves (UR)

6. Seth Tichenor, Ohio (5)

Dropping out: Datson, Paducah

Another extremely tough weight as all of the top four guys have a shot at placing come the state tournament. This also a weight that holds major implications in the team race as almost all of the major plays have a dog in this fight,

120

1. Trae Blackwell, Union (1)

2. Caleb Austin, Christian (2)

3. Derek Miller, Paducah (3)

4. Connor Jaschen, Hoptown (4)

5. Chance Collins, UHA (5)

6. Scott Rutman, Caldwell (UR)

Dropping Out: Williams Apollo

No major changes here, nobody really had a chance to wrestle each other.

126

1. Brock Ervin, Union (1)

2. Brian Herdrick, Fort Campbell (2)

3. Jeremy Burnham, Christian (3)

4. B.J. Miller, Ohio (4)

5. Dalton Putty, UHA (5)

6. Tyler Ward, Apollo (6)

Dropping Out: Nobody

Herdrick is the 132 that look really good at Caldwell for those of you who haven't figured it out. He is one of those guys that are going to drop down a weight come the weight allowance. No changes at all at this weight but it still remains in extremely important weight concerning the team race.

132

1. Wade Willen, UHA (1)

2. Jeff Wurth, Union (2)

3. Ryan Bunch, Ohio (6)

4. Frank Rosario, Paducah (3)

5. Joey Insko, Daviess (5)

6. Nick Ringle, Fort Campbell (UR)

Dropping Out: Ingram, Trigg

Bunch did very good at Caldwell and has a huge jump up the rankings as Trigg's Ingram drops out.

138

1. Jayce Carr, Union (1)

3. David Sahms, Fort Campbell (3)

2. Kevi Matlock, Christian (UR)

4. Chris Gilkey, Caldwell (4)

5. Trevor Wilson, Ohio (5)

6. Isaiah Frank, Calloway (6)

Dropping Out: Polley, Christian

With Polley's rumored weight cut shot down as impossible Sahms moves back up to second and now has a far stronger grip on that position then he did a couple weeks ago with solid wins over eveyone below him. I hate to sound like a broken record but again title race is at stake here

145

1. Kory Polley, Christian (2 at 138)

2. Keegan Agnew, Caldwell (1)

3. Chad Gahafer, Union (2)

4. Jacob Bennett, Ohio (3)

5. Robert Bussell, Hoptown (4)

6. Nighgell Davidson, Fort Campbell (UR)

Dropping Out: Sells, Christian; Gallogly, Trigg

Polley is back where he belongs at number one and is a threat to win the state title at this weight.

152

1. Gabe Ervin, Union (1)

2. Kyle Bunch, Ohio (2)

3. Gino Haywood, Fort Campbell (5)

4. Tre Sells, Christian (5 at 145)

5. Will Crabtree, UHA (6)

6. Joe Sisco, Graves (3)

Dropping Out: Sells, Christian

Sisco experiences a huge slide down the rankings following a string of defeats including one to Crabtree. This A beats B beats C beats A scenario launches Gino Haywood up to third facing stiff competation from Sells. Either Haywood or Josh Green from Fort Campbell might be the starter here, both younger brothers of Fort Campbell state qualifiers.

160

1. Cameron Montgomery, UHA (1)

2. Jerry Haywood, Fort Campbell (2)

3. Caleb Wolfe, Union (4)

4. Nathan Williams, Hoptown (UR)

5. James Brake, Daviees (UR)

6. Bryson Elliot, Calloway (UR)

Dropping Out: Curtis, Daviess; Williams, UHA; Jones, Trigg

Curtis is rumored out for the season but any knowledge about that would be helpful. A couple bad results knocks guys like Williams out of the rankings but this weight from 4th down can finish in almost a thousand different ways.

170

1. Ki Ryder, Fort Campbell (1)

2. Ben Redfield, Paducah (2)

3. Chase Copland, Graves (3)

4. Tyler Wilson, Calloway (4)

5. Aaron Fulton, Ohio (6)

6. Jeremy Logg, Daviess (UR)

Dropping Out: Durham, Trigg

Ryder's absence from the Fort Campbell lineup (injury, should be back soon) was highly evident at Caldwell as his presence would have almost certainly given Fort Campbell the win in such a close dual. I haven't been able to see him wrestle so I don't know for sure but Redfield continues to turn in some impressive results.

182

1. Clay Revlett, Caldwell (2)

2. Kane Morris, Union (3)

3. Zak Thompson, Paducah (4)

4. Enrique Martinez, Fort Campbell (UR)

5. Xavier Pate, Christian (5)

6. Brian Mayton, Daviess (UR)

Dropping Out: Simmons, Fort Campbell; Bradley, UHA

I am sorry to say that Fort Campbell's returning region champ, Drayton Simmons, has been kicked off the team. That puts a lot of pressure on the other Fort Campbell wrestlers to pick up the slack and try to earn back the lost team points. Revlett's move up to #1 is a big boost to Caldwell's hopes of a high finish at the regional tournament.

195

1. Bryan Carter, Union (1)

2. Bradley Easterling, Ohio (2)

3. Chase Allen, Daviess (3)

4. Colton Livingston, Trigg (4)

5. Stevie Mason, Christian (5)

6. Hunter Goresomething, Graves (UR)

Dropping Out: Carter, Fort Campbell

No major changes at 195.

220

1. Zach Farris, Ohio (2)

2. Aaron Stevens, Trigg (1)

3. Bobby Caldwell, Paducah (3)

4. Dustin Armendariz, Fort Campbell (4)

5. Cole Sherman, Union (5)

6. Cody Jackson, Calloway (6)

Dropping Out: Butler, Hoptown

Farris beating Stevens is a huge boost for Ohio's regional hopes and a huge knock on Trigg's. However the top four plays out could make or break each of these teams in their quest for the second place spot behind Union.

285

1. Raynel Brown, Union (1)

2. Jesse Brown, Ohio (UR)

3. Kyler Kendall, Christian (UR)

4. Jake Jorstad, Fort Campbell (4)

5. Dominic Hephner, Paducah (2)

6. Maurice Catlett, Trigg (5)

Dropping Out: O'Neal, Owensboro; Day, Christian

Hephner did not bring his A game to Caldwell and suffers heavily for it. But as I always say Heavyweight is the case of whoever ends up on top first. Unless you go to Fort Campbell and get rolled to your back on the verge of winning the dual for your team.

Team Rankings

1. Union County

2. Fort Campbell

3. Christian County

4. Ohio County

5. UHA

Can someone from Caldwell or pt correct me. Did clay beat Thompson?

Also sapp handled fc 106 pretty well. 4-2 heading into second before he gave up 5 points and a locking hands.

I know one Thing 45 is LOADED!!

I wouldn't short Miller, he's not the same wrestler he was last year. He had a wrestling partner named Chase Boone, and that only made him better (do or die). I would say anybody in his weight class better watch OUT.

I still need results from Meade for rankings on Monday. I am sort of not looking forward to all the changes Christian will cause. Having Chase as a partner is a big time boost to anyone, just look at Jacob Bennett
