grappler-of-old 44 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 There are numerous individuals that were not regional champs but state champions. How about individuals that were 4th in region and still were state champions? I believe there were at least 2. Danny Davis Fort Knox at Hwt (90,or 91)I think Clint Bell from Scott was also a number 4.

bulldog-leader 56 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Jim Perrin Christian Co. 1984. He was third in his region. I wrestled him in the semi's that year. He went on to win it.(I was 4th in my region that year)
dagger 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Wow you must of been really bad if you beat Perrin in the semi's and you took 4th. The first time i ever heard of a finalist placing 4th. So who took second the guy who got 4th?

The Bear 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 No Dagger Jim Perrin was 3rd in his region (WK region) I was 4th in my region (Nk region)We met in the semi's of the state tourney. He beat me and won state that year. I defeated the WKy #1 in the 1st round of the state that year. Was that at 119? I always wondered if that was coach Perrin who went on to lead the 88' team to a state title or if that was his son.
bulldog-leader 56 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Yes it was at 119. Old coach Perrin was Jim's father.I lost to him again in the semi's in 1985 at the same wt. class. Jim Graduated in 86, but I think his pappa was still the coach in
dagger 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Yes Perrin was the coach in 88. Jim could not wrestle in 86 as he was to old. Back then if you turned 19 before your sport started you could not participate in it. The 126 pound class in 1985 had the third place wrestlers from all four regions place 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th at state. In fact they were all in the semi finals as well. Don't know if that has ever happened before or since.
steve145 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I was never a regional champ and finished 2nd in 93 at 140, and 1st in 94 at 145. Who am I? Bonus points for anyone that can name the guy who beat me in regional's both years, and the state finals in 93.
