I would be willing to compromise back to the old way.  District tourney top 4 go to region. two districts make a region, top 4 go to state. 16 man state tourney.  But Districts have got to be changed to make this happen.  Look at last 5 year participants for each school and make districts more equal. Louisville no longer needs 2 districts/regions.

Amen.

Since we have been talking about possibly reducing state to 16 man by adding another tournament between now region and state, I did some research.

Those who know me, know I'm a stat geek.  I went through all the state tourneys and found this.

Only the top two from district qualified for state up through 1979. In 1986 and 1987 they had 2 semi states where top 4 qualified (8 man state tourney)

Since then 9 times have the top 4 qualifiers from a region placed in state. (or semi state for 86, and 87)

*(only placed top 4 1964-1979) (placed top 6 1980-2001) (2002 started placing top 8)

1982 NK placed 4 at 132--------- 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th

1984 NK placed 4 at 112---------1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th

1984 NK placed 4 at 119---------3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th

1989 JC placed 4 at 103-------- 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th

1996 Lex placed 4 at 140------- 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th

2012 NK placed 4 at 120--------1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th

2114 NK placed 4 at 145-------- 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th

2017 NK placed 4 at 126-------- 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th

2020 WK placed 4 at 113------- 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th

** There is a possibility that I may have missed 1, it got a little confusing with re-districting)

I thought this was interesting and maybe help in the thoughts on this topic.
