Has a Tilghman or Anderson wrestler ever made finals or won it?
What’s the highest for Martin County?
    Pike County Central’s first placer?
Record for most unbeaten guys? 18

    Most middle school placers? 8

1st kid to skip a grade?

    Anything else you all see?

I’m almost positive Tilighman has had a finalist.

martin co has had a championship when they were Sheldon clark

BOC and BOE do not have a clue for the most part. I’ve watched almost every BOC meeting until they powers that be for us pulled the plug. In one of the last meetings one BOC member stated they didn’t have a clue how wrestling works because their school didn’t have a team... simply put I think it’s asinine that the timing wasn’t discussed nor was it sent out to kywca to give input on prior to the release. That’s not anyone’s fault but the Khsaa offices.

Our areas BOC who’s school does NOT have wrestling nor do I think they will ever get a team due to politics and ignorance never returned emails to me with questions earlier this yr when I asked specific questions and would’ve liked to provide feedback to him about our sport.

what this crap has taught us is, Khsaa needed to consider coaches in the planning process more than what they have. They also need to swallow their pride in it as well. As each year passes our quality of wrestling in Ky is getting better and the state continues to hold us back.

Until we get wrestling folks in the state office and/or on the BOC it will continue to be the talking point yearly imo. Coaches association is doing all they can do For it imo. The BOC lack of knowledge has hurt our sport all yr with out a doubt.

This weekend wasn't my Regionals it was last week and yes I had no problems this week. But more importantly I am just saying in general this should never be a problem we have if training was required.

I know it wasn't.. I had the convo with you about the call Saturday. Good to see you this weekend as well

I agree big shortage of officials and it makes some new people who don't know wrestling at all start just to earn money. At regions we had a guy that didn't know what a Peterson was and awarded 2 near fall for the other guy and no reversal or any points for the kid that hit it. When explaining this to the ref he just said nope. Now it didn't cost the kid the match but could have. I know we need new guys but we have got to find a way to get them trained some before doing post season and even high school matches period. I get it we all have to be patient and I am thankful we have enough to at least wrestle but we have to find a way to start training them better.

I personally think our officiating Saturday in Semi-state #1 was solid ;)

Walls at 26 has beat cannon and ricketts 2 times

Ranking are as of right now chief. The A beat B. B beat A but lost to c. C beat this guy theory. Not looking at seeding criteria. Baker is simply making an opinion and he's been VERY spot on. He has contact with a number of people in region 1 who are in the "know". So he's very spot on with it.

Never really understood the "hide my teams stats" theory.  How many times does actually looking at a stat help a kid get a win? The only people it helps are the fans who are interested in the sport.  I would even go out on a limb and say scouting a wrestler usually does not help, unless the kid is a one move wonder.  It's what makes wrestling great, there are so many different techniques out there that you can't defend them all.  (leg wrestlers, crab ride, throws, funk, loose riding, tight waist riding, ........ etc. etc)Wrestle your type of match to the best of your ability and you won't have to worry about the others technique. JMO

it's simple. IT IS IN THE RULEBOOK. No accountability for it NOT being put in until this sunday. Absolutely ridiculous we do not have any accountability for it.

What if you were in the semi-finals and won, but during the match an injury occurred. A sprained ankle for example and could not wrestle the finals. Does your opponent receive a head to head victory over you if you have to forfeit the finals match?

it's a Medical Forfeit and it is a loss in an individual tournament. This happened to us a few years ago at the UHA tourney. Kid got hurt in the semifinals we won, had to MFF the finals. it is a loss.

    Goal: Mitigate risk of COVID

Solution: Host 3 multi team (16 or more) individual tournaments in back to back weeks with no contingency plan, or quarantine time, in case a region or semi-state catches the virus.

Result: Potential for 6 man bracket at state in some weight classes?

This is hardly erring on the side of caution.

If I wasn't able to compete via KHSAA, I'm sure there are other competitions out there.  Or, can you not compete via DoD orders?

Goal of Khsaa was to compete. You watched the BOC meetings. JT stated early on, teams will quarantine and miss. Look at other sports. It happened. Happened in golf for state tourney I believe. The goal was provide a season that will not look like 2019, 2020 and 2022 will not look like 2021.

again, like I stated above... they’ve made it no secret they don’t have the knowledge of wrestling. Not their faults they made the best decision for everyone involved. Which I know a lot don’t agree with but is what it is.

    nothing going to change.

as for not competing there are some things in the works for us to get kids on the mat.

  9.

for those who do not know or live under a rock, our team is NOT competing. Nothing, nada, nothing but conditioning.

so with that being said, i see what y’all are all complaining about kids missing opportunities and etc, guess what.... I looked at how tn played out for regions as we usually compete against a lot of teams down here. Guess what, numerous kids who in normal years would be in the top 6 didn’t qualify,

I don’t agree with only top 2 going at all past semi-state But guess what... that’s what was decided on. Complaining is fine but it will not change anything. That’s what they came up with.

@ukpridewrestler11 spoke of a plan that was given to Khsaa. I knew of that and I also have heard of other plans that were given to them.

Teater and the association has had conversations with the powers that be on occasions. I can confirm this. The association and coaches have all had fought for our sport.

BOC has been open with their goals of limiting mitigation and transmission Opportunities of Covid. Take politics out of it, but the facts Khsaa has always been on the side of caution or doing things differently than other states. Look across other sports. Football (kick off rule), wrestling (hydration testing before almost anyone) to name 2 things.

to make a difference in the future, talk with your AD about getting your superintendent or AD involved with the BOC. I don’t know how that occurs but having more presence in the future is what is needed.

as much as I hate our program is out for the year, I am happy everyone else is getting an opportunity. Remember, you could be in the situation I am in.

relax and enjoy the season you have because you could very well be in our situation while trying to make sense of everything.

Best of luck to you all!

Should let 12 kids into state. The 4 semistate winners get first round bye, and that gives 3rd place kids at semi state the chance to wrestle their way back into discussion. But, it won't happen. I know for a fact Mike "Baron" was proposed an option for state over the phone that allowed 32 man brackets, followed protocol by utilizing 4 different gyms (coaching may or may not have been an issue) and allowed spectators. Second day, the top 8 would have been brought back to finish all in the same gym. Coach Dennis Walls, formerly of Union County, was the one who proposed this idea to Julian Tackett and Mike Barren. They said it was a great idea that could definitely work and in Lexington. What they did was take those four sites and made it into a semi-state and brought on only the top 2 from semi-states.

We have a BOC that only utilizes athletic directors and pushed out all of the acting wrestling coaches, making it easier for the KHSAA to say screw off, we don't care about wrestling and do it their own way. Have athletic directors that don't have a backbone to stick up for their regions wrestling teams. Every other state tournament has ran normally. Football used Kroger Field. We all know dang well that the Sweet Sixteen will use Rupp Arena, and not be forced to semi-states and only bring in  teams (same ratio they dropped wrestling by) to the actual state tournament. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Dennis laid the plan out to me and I think it would’ve worked!!

the problem is you have a lot of BOC members who’ve said it publicly they simply don’t have knowledge of wrestling.

The Ty Lehman vs Payne Carr match was incredible. Best match I had watched all year.
1st Period: Lehman tosses Carr to his back securing takedown and 3 point nearfall. Carr reverses and the Lehman gets an escape. Lehman lands a Japanese arm-throw but doesn't get the takedown out of bounds. Carr lands nastily on his head. Score is 6-2 Lehman.
2nd Period: Carr chooses bottom and escapes, 6-3 Lehman. One toss attempt after another, Carr lands a lateral drop to get the takedown and 3 point nearfall. Score is 8-6 Carr. Lehman escapes making it 8-7 Carr. Carr lands another takedown and Lehman escapes again. Score is 10-8 Carr.
3rd Period: Lehman chooses bottom and escapes. 10-9 Carr. Another toss by Payne Carr puts Lehman on his back with score 15-9. Lehman escapes and Payne gets another takedown to finish the match 17-10.

helluva match!!  Thanks for sharing it on FB.

Apollo is ranked 21. He also has these on his record:

Andrew Pottle (Ohio County) over Conner Lander (Henderson County) (MD 18-5)
Luke Cullop (Calloway County) over Conner Lander (Henderson County) (Fall 0:00)

Blakely Miller (McCracken County) over Conner Lander (Henderson County) (Fall 0:00)
Matthew Mooney (Paducah Tilghman) over Conner Lander (Henderson County) (Fall 0:00)

Say Moe has lost to Hendricks -Trigg
Champ. Round 3 - Andrew Hendricks (Trigg County) over Say Moe (Daviess County) (Fall 0:00)

But also pinned two kids who pinned Lander:

Say Moe (Daviess County) over Luke Cullop (Calloway County) (Fall 0:00)
Say Moe (Daviess County) over Blakely Miller (McCracken County) (Fall 0:00)

12-25 is a crapshoot for heavyweight. Rocket science trying to rank those kids.

region 1 at hwt is a crapshoot this yr. You have 8 solid kids there.
