CAMPBELLSVILLE WON THE FIRST-EVER MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE

Recommended Posts

Campbellsville University won all four of its matches and collected the first-ever Mid-South Conference Wrestling Tournament hardware Saturday afternoon on its home mats in the Gosser Gym.

The rest of the field: Cumberland University 2-1-1, Lindsey Wilson 2-2, University of the Cumberlands 1-2-1, West Virginia tech 0-4.

"This is pretty neat," said coach Franky James, "and to get it here at home is really special for our guys."

Campbellsville's Tommy Pretty, Nick Waldrop and James Linker were undefeated in their four matches in helping the Tigers to the title.

"We bumped Spencer Adams up to 197 and he got a big win for us today," said James.

James praised Jeremiah Fennel too."He just keeps on improving," said James. "He lost a one-point match to Cumberland University's B.J. Stewart and Stewart was ranked No. 1 at one time this season."

But there is no rest for the weary, as Campbellsville left at 7:00 Saturday for Indiana and a match Sunday at Indianapolis University.

"We started out a little slow, but we got it together after that," said James. "Our guys have been training really hard because we haven't had a match since a January 15th dual against McKendree. We just needed to get out there and compete."

Great post! Thank you for promoting Mid-South wrestling!

Jacob Shirley of Lindsey Wilson recieved All-Conference honors, as well, and was named Co-Freshman of the Year. The release has been updated to include Jacob. We are very proud of his efforts

Again, thank you for the post. Keep up the good work!
