#17 Campbellsville University vs #5 University of the Cumberlands

CAMPBELLSVILLE CUMBERLANDS

125

(So) John Chidester vs. (Jr) #1 Delrico Choates

Choates is ranked #1 and is a very explosive and dangerous wrestler. Chidester is steady and continues to improve with experience. He will need to wrestle tough here to keep from giving up bonus.

Prediction: Choates-Cumberlands

133

(Fr) Jessie Riggleman or (So)Kaci Payne vs. (Jr) Michael Brooks

If Campbellsville goes with Riggleman they will be the favorite here. Brooks is tough with the underhook series and is always looking for the fall. Payne was a National Qualifier last year, but is an up and down wrestler for Campbellsville. If he is in he will need to wrestle well to get a win here.

Prediction: Riggleman-Campbellsville

141

(Fr.) Jairus Murton or (So) Kyle Norred vs. (Jr.) #4 Brad Cooper

Freshman Murton was a HS standout and could be in this match against cooper. If not (Sophomore) Norred will need to be ready to get off the bottom. Cooper is very tough from the top position. If Norred or Murton can do well from the neutral position this could be a close match. If not, Cooper will get a win here.

Prediciton: Cooper-Cumberlands

149

(Jr.) #3 Chris Seta vs. (Fr.) #6 Dustin Center

Seta is tough to score on and is good from every position. He is a very smart wrestler that knows how to win the close ones. Center is a scrappy Freshman that will try to keep the match close.

Predicition: Seta-Campbellsville

157

(Fr.) David Clemens vs. (Jr.) #8 Tommy Hutchinson

These two met in the finals of the patriot open in early November. Clemens came out on top with a 9-2 decision. Hutchinson is dangerous from the top position and has a good cradle. Clemens will counter with good mat wrestling skills and scrambling ability.

Prediction: Clemens-Campbellsville

165

(Jr.) John Lowery vs. (Jr.) Charles Simmons

Lowery was an accomplished HS wrestler, but has been slowed a bit by injuries in college. If he is healthy he is tough to score on and is very strong physically. He does have a 7-2 win over Max Dean from Indiana this year. Simmons has not seen much action yet, but has been tough at times. This should be a good match up and is a must win for Campbellsville if they plan to upset the #5 ranked patriots.

Prediction: Lowery-Campbellsville

174

(So)Chris Branam vs. (Sr.)#6 Todd Allen

Allen is tough from the top position and Branam is a physically strong wrestler that is tough on bottom. A hard match up for Allen, but he has several previous wins over Branam. If Allen wrestles a smart match he could be going for bonus here.

Prediction: Allen-Cumberlands

184

(So) Josh Deadrick vs. (Fr) Matt Reis

Deadrick is one of Campbellsville’s most improved wrestlers. He placed 4th at the UNCP tournament and 6th at Ashland. Reis did not place at Pembroke. Reis is new to the lineup for Cumberland at 184 and doesn’t have many wins. This could be another close match and should go a long way in determining the winner of the duel.

Prediction: Deadrick-Campbellsville

197

(Fr) # 8 Glen Jackson vs. (Jr) #1 Eric Flinchum

Jackson is a great athlete and is having a good year thus far. He is hard to score on from the neutral position. Jackson just beat the #5 and #7 ranked wrestlers in the nation at national duels. .Flinchum is tough on top and went undefeated last year until the Nationals finals match. So far Flinchum has looked unbeatable this year.

Prediction: Flinchum-Cumberlands

285

(Fr) Chad Brown vs. (Sr.) Matt Bishop

Bishop is back in the lineup for Cumberlands this semester and had a good showing at national duels. Brown is a feisty freshman with good hips. He is dangerous from neutral and is always looking for the fall.

Prediction: Toss-up match

You can do the math, but this looks to be a close duel. Cumberlands is riding high after a great finish at the National Duels while Campbellsville seems to be a team that is very young but steadily improving.

Come out and cheer for your team and support the two nationally ranked in state college wrestling programs!
