Old wrestler 92 Report post Posted March 7, 2017 I was on The Mat message board earlier and saw a topic discussing the best freshmen wrestlers in the NCAA. Achilles 58 Report post Posted March 7, 2017 Not positive but I think Austin is the only Freshman Heavyweight in D1 wrestling to win his qualifying spot to the NCAA championship tournamnt .He beat the #1 seed and someone who was awarded an aq spot to do it. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Old wrestler 92 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 Looks like Austin landed #8 Kroells (Minnesota) first round. Tough first round matchup, but Kroells isn't unbeatable. Achilles 58 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 Blind draw outside top 16 the MAC championship draws Snyder one of the at large bids probably lowest ranked from MAC draws the 16 seed pretty Crazy but until your a top 10 seed you might as well not expect any love .Austin has wrestled tougher and Kroells actually lost to the 9 seed this year it would be a big upset beating a 2 x AA but everyone is beatable Kroells has 9 losses and some close matches with comparable comp and some big wins that look out of reach on paper we will see . 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
