Region 1 Rankings 12/15/15

Recommended Posts

Enough teams have gotten results in I can do an update. Some region 1 match ups occured, off the top of my head I think Jack Haynes and other Calloway wrestlers are going to move the most. This will give us an idea what sort of match ups to look for as Region 1 gears up for the Armstrong Duals.

106
1. Kaleb Sapp, Ohio County (1)
2. Daniel Knight, Christian County (2)
3. Gabe Adams, Union County (3)

4. Keegan Slone, Trigg County (4)
5. Billy Eggers, Fort Campbell (5)
6. Ethan Wells, UHA (6)

Knight and Sapp had a very close match but Sapp retains his first place ranking with a 4-2 win. No other results between top 6 guys.

113
1. Dale Robertson, Hoptown (1)
2. Austin Grant-Hall, Christian County (2)
3. Billy Pride, Union County (3)
4. Isaac Aguier, Trigg County (4)
5. Jack Probus, Ohio County (5)
6. Ride Suda-Dodson, Fort Campbell (6)

Grant-Hall is looking really good but I can't move him over Robertson until they've wrestled each other. Pride may not be the starter for Union right now but I will wait another week and see. No other results of note I've noticed.

120
1. Saul Ervin, Union County (1)
2. Nick Dickerson, Calloway County (2)

3. Cameron Dearmond, Hoptown (3)
4. Seth Slayton, Cadwell County (4)
5. Ray Hamilton, Paducah Tilghman (5)

6. Ishmael Griffie, Christian County (6)

No question Saul is number one. Dickerson and Dearmond have both been on a tear and should be a premier matchup going into the Armstrong Duals. Slayton and Hamilton are battling hard for that 4th spot, at least until Hamilton drops to 113.

126
1. Devontae Turner, Trigg County (1)
2. Sam Yates, Hoptown (2)
3. Rylan Ervin, Union County (3)
4. Jaelin Smith, Christian County (4)
5. Shane Grey, Ohio County (5)
6. Jackson Gruber, McCracken County (UR)
Dropping out- Merrit, FC

This is still a very weak weight. It appears Rylan is having trouble making 126 and I can't find any results for Yates. I'll give them another week before I shift the rankings around.

132
1. Bryce Sheffer, Union County (1)
2. Camerin Cole, Christian County (2)
3. Scott Ruttman, Calloway County (3)
4. Zach McCoy, Ohio County (4)
5. Kaleb O'Campo, Caldwell County (5)
6. Hunter Vlach, McCracken County (6)

All three top guys have been wrestling really well. Sheffer with a big win over Zane Brown at ryle, Cole at KOB with a win over Dwayne Johnson, and Ruttman crushing basically anyone put in front of him including Devonate Turner (1st at 126). Sheffer is a step above Cole and Ruttman but again don't be surprised if all three make the podium. I debated bumping O'Campo over McCoy but I'll sit on that.

138
1. Chance Oxford, Union County (1)
2. Chance Collins, UHA (2)
3. Louie Regaldo, Fort Campbell (3)
4. Colin Stevens, Trigg County (UR)

5. Jacob Bellah, Calloway County (4)
5. Antonio Abren, Christian County (5)
Dropping out- Skuljan, Hop

Oxford hasn't wrestled yet this season with Rylan bumping up to this spot, same deal of waiting a week. The weight change hasn't appeared to slow Regaldo down but Collins has looked too solid himself to consider a rank change. Stevens picks up the win over Bellah to move him into that #4 spot.

145
1. Kobe Perry, Christian County (2)
2. Micah Ervin, Union County (152)

3. Alex Curl, Fort Campbell (3)
4. Justin Crabtree, Trigg County (4)
5. Chase Arnold, Ohio County (5)
6. Jacob Kramer, Calloway County (UR)
Dropping Out- Paredes, Cald

Ervin has been here instead of Oxford. You could make a very solid argument Micah should be first but I will keep Perry at #1 for now. Kramer picks up the win over Paredes to move into the rankings. Paredes has possibly dropped to 138 anyway.

152
1. Jackson Oxford, Union County (145)
2. Isaiah Lawson, Hoptown (1)
3. Corbin Ryder, Fort Campbell (2)
4. Jack Haynes, Calloway County (5)
5. Braden Sperry, Caldwell County (3)

6. Malik Cunningham, Trigg County (6)

152 continues to be a premier weight. Oxford being at 152 would put him at first over Lawson unless there is a result somewhere I've forgotten. The two should be a close match up though. Ryder may be hurt again but if healthy is a large dark horse threat. Haynes picked up the win over Sperry to bump him into 4th. Again I highly doubt the weight will stay like this after Christmas. I'm also keeping an eye on McCracken's Bowling.

160
1. Diion Leavell, Christian County (1)
2. Mario Perez, Calloway County (4)
3. Caleb Riley, Caldwell County (2)

4. Evan Martin, McCracken County (3)
5. Zeke Hatfield, Ohio County (5)
6. Matt Livingston, Trigg County (6)

Perez gets the win over Riley to jump two spots. The weight still seems to belong to Leavell though.

170
1. Avery Buckman, Union County (1)
2. Keyven Sells, Christian County (2)
3. Dylan Grey, Caldwell County (3)
4. Josh Thweatt, Trigg County (4)
5. Kolby Morris, Hoptown (UR)
6. Tyler Twiss, Fort Campbell (UR)

Dropping Out- Keeling, FC; Bell, Calloway

Same deal of an extremely close battle between Buckman, Sells, and Grey but 4th down is a little bit of a murky mess.

182
1. Katayvon Anthony, Hoptown (1)
2. David Woods, Calloway County (2)
3. Daniel Moll, Caldwell County (3)
4. Alex Billiter, Christian County (4)
5. Aaron Allen, Ohio County (5)
6. Taylor Hampton, Trigg County (6)

Positions here have held solid this past week. Woods picks up a win over Moll

195
1. Cole Sherman, Union County (1)
2. Anthony Adkinson, Fort Campbell (2)
3. Seth Estes, McCracked County (UR)
4. Christian Cruz, Hoptown (UR)

5. Jackson Fitzgerald, Paducah Tilghman (3)
6. Mark Diaz, Trigg County (4)
Dropping Out- Green, Chr

This is the last week Adkinson will be in the rankings until I see any sort of results from him. Estes got a win over Fitzgerald, Diaz has been at 220 lately moving him next week. Moving Cruz in over Fitzgerald based on the strength of his results, probably should move him over Estes as well but we will wait on that one. Etkins has been at 195 instead of Green so we will be watching there too.

220
1. Conner Sherman, Union County (1)
2. Kjauwan Major, Christian County (2)
3. Colby Culver, Calloway County (5)
4. Phil Bradley, UHA (3)
5. Tige Littlefield, Caldwell County (4)
6. Deion Lane, Hoptown (6)

Sherman hasn't been wrestling so he may get dropped after this week. I don't know the circumstances of the Bradley/Lane match before the injury but I will drop Bradley a spot for now. Culver picked up the win over Littlefield.

285
1. David Nikolao, Fort Campbell (1)
2. Chance Orr, Paducah Tilghman (2)
3. Logan Thomas, Hoptown (3)
4. David Clark, Calloway County (4)
5. Bryce Chandler, Union County (5)

6. Mahlon Ray, Christian County (6)

Ray will get dropped next week if he doesn't wrestle. Orr appears pretty solid so far at heavyweight, we will see how he holds it down moving forward.

Team Race

1. Union County (42.5)

Union is still far and away the favorite of the region and will be so for a long time. Not much else to say really.

2. Christian County (28.5)

Christian County has some serious young talent in the likes of Austin Grant-Hall and company, they will be eyeing a top 5 finish at state in a couple years but for now they sit at second in the region.

3. Hopkinsville (22)

At what point does a dark horse stop becoming a dark horse? Hoptown has carried this mantle for at least three years now. In a year or two we will see whether their dark horse status was a flash in the pan or the start of Hoptowns return to power.

4. Fort Campbell (15.5)

For the first time in awhile Fort Campbell's top guys actually seem to be consistent, in the sense that are always showing up to wrestle. But at the same time Fort Campbell doesn't quite return the firepower they have had in the past. Nikolao is eyeing a top 4 finish at state and once Regaldo, Curl, and Ryder hit their weight classes they will be very dangerous themselves.

5. Calloway County (15)

Calloway appears to not be slowing down at all in their rise to region power. Their wrestlers continue to show up to wrestle and play the match up game better than almost anyone else. It's good to see they haven't seemed to have lost a step in the transition. Trigg leads the rest and is within striking distance even without Kline. Caldwell and Ohio have unquestionable superstars but the role players need to step up to secure a top 5 finish. UHA and Paducah hold serious talent but an utter lack of numbers. McCracken is slowly and steadily improving every year.

6. Trigg County (11)
7(t).
Caldwell County (8.5)
7(t). Ohio County (8.5)
9(t).
UHA (4.5)
9(t).
Paducah Tilghman (4)
11. McCracken County (4)
