Region 1 Rankings Week 2 (12/15)

Recommended Posts

My actual finals type finals are done. Still have a meeting with my Student Teaching supervisor tomorrow and I've been told by those who have already had the final meeting that it is going to be a two hour long nightmare. On the bright side, Cleveland Heights is looking good, we had two champions at our tournament last weekend while missing about 4-5 of our better guys and a lot of our other good wrestlers not at their weight class yet. But I've made everyone wait long enough so here are the new rankings, as always please report any results I missed or do not have.

106

1. Kaleb Sapp, Ohio County (1)

2. Kaleb Hammons, Caldwell County (2)

3. Billy Pride, Union County (3)

4. James McDow, Hopkinsville (5)

5. Isaac Aguier, Trigg County (6)

6. Nick Dickerson, Calloway County (UR)
Dropped Out- Edward Agulto, Christian County

Haven't seen Agulto wrestle so he drops out for now, other than that everyone has beaten who they're supposed to beat.

113

1. Saul Ervin, Union County (1)

2. Luis Regaldo, Fort Campbell (2)

3. Dakota Himes, Ohio County (3)

4. Daniel Knight, Christian County (4)

5. Austin Zeppes, Calloway County (5)

6. Ray Hamilton, Paducah Tilghman (6)

Dropping Out- None

No change, even though I don't have any results from Paducah. There is something to watch however. Himes and Sapp have both split time at 106 and 113, posting very impressive results at both weights. Either one could be subbed in for the other right now, so technically it could be Himes 1st at 106 and Sapp 3rd at 113. I think Sapp has more potential to beat Ervin and Regaldo, but it is not out of the realm of possibility for Himes to do it either.

120

1. Devontae Turner, Trigg County (1)

2. Froilan Agulto, Christian County (2)

3. Cameron Dearmond, Hoptown (4)

4. Logan Lee, Fort Campbell (5)

5. Dalton Hedgepath, Union County (UR)

6. Ben Hannamond, Calloway County (6)

Dropping Out- Micah Ervin, Union County

Ervin has only wrestled one match, Hedgepath has no wins that I've found but Union County is still Union County. Dearmond has lost two very close matches to Turner showing how this is a very tight weight

126

1. Bryce Sheffer, Union County (1)

2. Jeremiah Kline, Trigg County (2)

3. Daniel Dyess, UHA (3)

4. Camerin Cole, Christian County (4)

5. Zach McCoy, Ohio County (5)

6. Jacob Bellah, Calloway County (6)

Dropping out- None

This is shaping up to be a very tough weight, I can't move anyone right now but these top 6 guys have been cranking out a lot of wins, just not any to move them up in the rankings.

132

1. Chance Collins, UHA (1)

2. Scott Ruttman, Calloway County (3)

3. Rylan Ervin, Union County (2)

4. Austin Crabtree, Trigg County (4)
5. John Eggers, Fort Campbell (UR)
6. Ethan Hoover, Ohio County (6)

Dropping Out- Alex Curl, Fort Campbell

I drop Ervin kind of unfairly, he had a disappoint Rumble but on the bright side it is easy for him to move back up. Collins still holds first since nobody else has really gotten the chance to wrestle him outside of Crabtree. Eggers picked up the start for Fort Campbell and pinned Hoover in their dual.

138

1. Derek Miller, Paducah Tilghman (1)

2. Chance Oxford, Union County (2)

3. Diion Leavell, Christian County (UR)

4. Dalton Putty, UHA (5)

5. Blake Brown, Ohio County (6th at 145)

6. Jack Haynes, Calloway County (6)

Dropped Out- Chandler Martin, McCracken County; BJ Miller, Ohio County

Two big names haven't wrestled for almost two weeks in Martin and Miller, even if Martin returns he won't be at this weight. Miller is looking big himself I am told but he has already wrestled at 138 this year. I have nothing on Miller since like I said Paducah hasn't uploaded anything to track so any word would be appreciated. Leavell makes his return and thus moves above Putty. Brown has been at 138 lately and could definitely move up quickly if this is where he is staying.

145

1. Kobe Perry, Christian County (1)

2. Corbin Ryder, Fort Campbell (2)

3. Tim Pike, Union County (3)

4. Logan Thomas, Calloway County (4)

5. Braden Sperry, Caldwell County (5)

6. Matt Livingston, Trigg County (UR)

Dropping Out- Blake Brown, Ohio County

Not much change here outside of Brown dropping. Pike had a good Rumble so watch out for him.

152

1. Jackson Oxford, Union County (1)

2. Dylan Gray, Caldwell County (2)

3. Nicholas Walls, Calloway County (3)

4. Justin Newby, Christian County (4)

5. Ivan Lawson, Hoptown (5)

6. Malik Cunningham, Trigg County (6)

Dropping Out- None

This makes me feel really guilty to say but despite Gray and Oxford not wrestling for over a week I will keep them in for now. This is unfair to other guys like Miller that I have taken out but in the case of Gray I don't have full results from Caldwell so he may just not have been put in and Oxford is a Union guy and I can usually rely on Union guys.

160

1. Nate Williams, Hoptown (1)

2. Mario Perez, Calloway County (5th at 170)

3. Alex Hideg, McCracken County (UR)

4. Caleb Riley, Caldwell County (4)
5. Ryan Hedrick, Union County (5)

6. Noelle Williams, Paducah Tilghman (6)

Dropping Out- Sells, Christian County; Jaishon Faison, Trigg County

Sells has been MIA since Harpeth (I'm a hypocrite I know) and Faishon has bumped up to 170. Once Sells returns he is right back to 2nd and challenging for first but until then this is Williams weight and he will be untouched right now.

170

1. Gino Haywood, Fort Campbell (1)

2. Avery Buckman, Union County (2)

3. Isaiah Lawson, Hoptown (3)

4. Keyven Sells, Christian County (UR)

5. Will Crabtree, UHA (4)
6. Jaishon Faison, Trigg County (3rd at 160)

Dropping Out- Mario Perez, Calloway County; Jared Turner, Paducah Tilghman

Lawson has looked tough lately and other Sells has gotten some matches in entering his hat in to the fray. Haywood and Buckman still lead the rest of the pack though.

182

1. Xavier Pate, Christian County (1)

2. Kane Morris, Union County (2)

3. Conner Keenan, Fort Campbell (3rd at 195)

4. Tige Littlefield. Caldwell County (3)

5. Gage Parker, Ohio County (6)
6. David Woods, Calloway County (UR)

Dropping Out- Anthony Adkinson, Fort Campbell; Rustin Burkeen, Calloway County

Pate still leads with Morris not far behind, but Keenan cutting down makes this weight a lot more interesting. Parker has looked good as of late but still lost to Littlefield.

195

1. Cole Sherman, Union County (1)

2. Eugene Butler, Hoptown (4)

3. Cody Jackson, Calloway County (5)

4. Anthony Adkinson, Fort Campbell (6th at 195)
5. Kyler Bohn, Trigg County (UR)
6. Anthony Brown, Caldwell County (UR)

Dropping Out- Conner Keenan, Fort Campbell; Kris Easterling, Ohio County; Kajwaun Major, Christian County

Major has not wrestled a single match, out. Same goes for Easterling. Filling out 195 was a struggle and I blame the extremely frustrating decision to take away a smaller weight class to create a bigger one, I am still unhappy with I believe it was the NWCA who made that decision.

220

1. Conner Sherman, Union County (2)

2. AJ Ogburn, Fort Campbell (3)

3. Colby Culver, Calloway County (4)

4. Phil Bradley, UHA (5)
5. Chance Orr, Paducah Tilghman (6)

6. Ben McGregor, Caldwell County (UR)

Dropping Out- Zach Farris, Ohio County

As of right now I am not sure about Farris, I've heard here and there about him. If I was a betting man I'd say he is back very soon. I've heard similar here and there about Ogburn, but I've felt it has leaned more towards here than there lately, so I will hesitantly keep him in. The second Farris steps on the mat he is #1

285

1. Raynel Brown, Union County (1)

2. Luke Shaffer, Ohio County (3)

3. David Nikolao, Fort Campbell (2)

4. Andrew Lee, McCracken County (UR)

5. Maurice Catlett, Trigg County (4)

6. Mahlon Ray, Christian County (5)

Dropping Out- Connor Adams, Calloway County

We have our first big result of the season with Shaffer getting revenge over Nikolao in convincing fashion to reclaim the #2 spot behind Brown who is coming off of a HUGE win (pun intended) over Landon Young in ultimate ride out. Andrew Lee, formerly of Calloway, returns to the rankings as a McCracken prospect and leads the charge for 4th.

Team

1. Union County

Not dropping anytime soon

2. Christian County

County has second place talent, they would have to wrestle their C game from how it looks right now

3. Fort Campbell

Took their lumps at Slamfest but the younger guys are building up a solid start to their careers. Still more potential than proven talent right now.

4. Ohio County

I'm not doing the math for these week's rankings because of uncertainties concerning some guys and whether or not they will wrestle. Ohio County I feel was hit the hardest by this uncertainty on my part so I considered it unfair to them to drop them until something solid comes my way.

5. Trigg County
Trigg has looked very solid lately. Hoptown gets the nod over Calloway County this week but those two and Caldwell County are all very close to each other, too many question marks (especially with Caldwell) to make any guarantees yet. UHA is doing the most with what they can. Paducah is just a giant question mark right now. Finally McCracken needs Chandler Martin to move up over Paducah, but the rest of the roster has improved.

6. Hoptown
7. Calloway County

8. Caldwell County

9. UHA

10. Paducah Tilghman

11. McCracken County

That's a really good week

Honestly I think Ohio County could be as high as second in the team rankings from what I seen this weekend
