Region 1 Rankings 1/28/13

Recommended Posts

I have been having a hard time getting results this week. I didn't even realize the Laker Open had even occured until I was looking up results for Chandler Martin. So I am doing my best with what I have and if Chance Collins secretly stuck Caleb Austin at some secret dual I have never heard of feel free to let me know and I will tell you how that changes things. Also since I have been recieving constant complaints about my team rankings I will break it down scientifically for everyone this week. 5 points for a first place, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th, and 1 for 5th or 6th

106
1. Bryce Sheffer, Union (1)
2. Tyler Ward, Apollo (2)
3. Travon Thacker, Hoptown (3)
4. Wes Gray, Caldwell (4)
5. Zenon Rodriguez, Paducah (5)
6. Kaleb Sapp, Ohio (6)

Dropping out: Nobody

Still no love for Ward from my part, sorry.

113
1. Robert Dezember, Union (1)
2. Jeremiah Kline, Trigg (2)
3. Anthony DeWitt, Fort Campbell (3)
4.Scott Ruttman, Calloway (4)
5. Boyce Nichols, Caldwell (UR)

6. Daniel Dyess, UHA (6)

Dropping out: Maxwell, Daviess

I would've put Dyess above Nichols but I don't trust this format right now and they are virtually equal anyway. I don't think they have wrestled each other so I don't have much to go on.

120
1. Trae Blackwell, Union (1)
2. Caleb Austin, Christian (2)
3. Connor Jaschen, Hoptown (3)
4. Derek Miller, Paducah (4)
5. Chance Collins, UHA (5)
6. Brandon Sperry, Caldwell (UR)

Dropping Out: Ward, Apollo

Turns out Miller had a win over Jaschen I never saw last week. But Jaschen stuck Miller in their latest meeting so instead of me making a mistake I just look really smart. I can totally see into the future everyone.

126
1. Brock Ervin, Union (1)
2. Brian Herdrick, Fort Campbell (2)
3. B.J. Miller, Ohio (3)

4. Frank Rosario, Paducah (5 at 132)

5. Camerin Cole, Christian (4)
6. Dalton Putty, UHA (5)

Dropping Out: Walls, Calloway

Cole has looked solid so far, but Rosario is a proven talent at this point.

132
1. Chris Gilkey, Caldwell (1)
2. Wade Willen, UHA (2)
3. Gabe Ervin, Union (3)
4. Nick Ringle, Fort Campbell (4)

5. Ryan Bunch, Ohio (5 at 138)
6. Chandler Martin, Paducah (UR)

Dropping Out: Rosario, Paducah; Burnham, Christian

4th place at 132 just got a lot more interesting as it seems like it is going to be a battle between Ringle, Bunch, and Martin as the top 3 have a fairly firm hold on their spot.

138
1. Jayce Carr, Union (1)
2. David Sahms, Fort Campbell (2)
3. Kevi Matlock Christian (3)
4. Isaiah Frank Calloway (4)
5. Daniel Ingram, Trigg (UR)
6. Amad Cano, Daviess (UR)

Dropping Out: Bunch, Ohio; Cunningham, Trigg

Just a couple weight changes to report at 138.

145
1. Kory Polley, Christian (1)

2. Chad Gahafer, Union (2 at 152)

3. Jacob Bennett, Ohio (2)
4. Robert Bussell, Hoptown (3)
5. Nighgell Davidson, Fort Campbell (4)
6. Ryan Gallogly Trigg (5)

Dropping Out: Garrett, Union

Gahafer drops to 145 and looks to be in a position to at least give Polley a match in the regional finals. This also pushes 145 back up to one of the toughest weights in the region.

152

1. Kyle Bunch, Ohio (3)

2. Keegan Agnew, Caldwell (1)
3. Caleb Wolfe, Union (UR)
4. Joe Sisco, Graves (4)
5. Tre Sells, Christian (5)
6. Gino Haywood, Fort Campbell (6)

Dropping Out: Gahafer, Union

The biggest result this week it looks like is Bunch upsetting Agnew at Fort Knox, bumping him up to first place.

160
1. Cameron Montgomery, UHA (1)

2. Jerry Haywood, Fort Campbell (3)

3. Brian French, Union (2)

4. Nathan Williams, Hoptown (4)
5. Jayven Jones, Trigg (5)
6. Bryson Elliot, Calloway (UR)

Dropping Out: Feezor, Graves

Usually I don't bump someone up over someone they haven't beaten yet, but Haywood had a big win over LaRue's 160 who pinned Brian French. I can see this match up going either way come regionals, and definately don't count out nathan Williams.

170
1. Ki Ryder, Fort Campbell (1)
2. Kane Morris, Union (2)
3. Ben Redfield, Paducah (3)

4. Chase Copland, Graves (6)

5. Austin Durham, Trigg (4)
6. Tyler Wilson, Calloway (5)

Dropping Out: Nobody

Ryder has some really good results as of late, beating two guys ranked in Ranger's top 8 and is poised to make a late season run to the podium. In other news, Copland has two good results over Durham and Wilson to move him up into that 4th spot.

182
1. Devin Smith, Union (1)
2. Joseph Freeland, Christian (2)
3. Clay Revlett, Caldwell (3)
4. Phil Bradley, UHA (4)
5. Mario Miles, Hoptown (5)
6. Zak Thompson, Paducah (6)

Dropping Out: Nobody

Huh no changes here, interesting. Did I miss anything?

195

1. Aaron Stevens, Trigg (1 at 220)
2. Bryan Carter, Union (1)
3. Bradley Easterling, Ohio (2)
4. Stevie Mason, Christian (3)
5. JaQuan Wilson, Hoptown (4)
6. Chase Allen, Daviess (5)

Dropping Out: Livingston, Trigg

I can't remember if I mentioned this or not, but Drayton Simmons of Fort Campbell was going to return, but he isn't going to anymore. However there is big news confirmed for 195 as Aaron Stevens drops from 220 and sets himself up for state.

220
1. Cole Sherman, Union (2)
2. Zach Farris, Ohio (3)
3. Dustin Armendariz, Fort Campbell (4)
4. Tevin Toler, Christian (5)
5. Ryan Duvall, Apollo (6)

6. Bobby Caldwell, Paducah

Dropping Out: Stevens, Trigg

Farris now finds himself in a big spot in concerns to the team race. If he can beat Cole Sherman for the 220 title it would do huge things for Ohio's runner-up hopes

285
1. Raynel Brown, Union (1)
2. Jake Jorstad, Fort Campbell (2)
3. Jesse Brown/Luke Shaffer, Ohio (3)
4. Taylor Widmer, Apollo (4)
5. Dominic Hephner, Paducah (5)
6. Kyler Kendall, Caldwell (6)

Dropping Out: Nobody

Since dropping out of the rankings a couple weeks ago Hephner has been on a tear lately and looks to reclaim his position as second best heavyweight in the region.

Team Rankings
1. Union County (61)
2. Fort Campbell (31)

3. Ohio County (23)
3. Christian County (22)
5. Caldwell County (17)

I did the math for a couple other teams (such as Apollo) and only Trigg came close to breaking the top 5. My internet keeps glitching on me so I don't want to risk everything I have written anymore so I am posting without showing you the scores for everyone else, feel free to do the math yourself (I am a history major after all).

Half's rankings are Dual based and my rankings are tournament based so that works out nicely. So a quick refresher

Tournament Rankings
1. Union
2. Fort Campbell
3. Ohio
4. Christian
5. Caldwell

Dual Rankings
1. Union
2. Fort Campbell
3. Christian
4. Ohio
5. Apollo

I think this is the first time that Christian is ranked as a better dual team then a tournament team in a very long time haha

Tommorow I won't post rankings, instead I am going to do more of a preview with my predictions for each weight. I should have the seeds by that time but eh you guys aren't good at giving me info haha. The predictions won't be as results based as the rankings so get ready to complain. I invite you to provide your own predictions as soon as I post mine.
