  1. Got to agree with you Captain America. Your last sentence sums it up for me. I really doubt participation numbers will go up if we get rid of singlets. Kids who use that excuse will have another excuse even if we went to shorts and shirts. I don't see football coaches saying hey, you don't like wearing a football helmet, no problem, here is a motorcycle helmet. Sounds rather ridiculous when you think about it.

  2. Call me old school but I am not a fan of how wrestling is trending towards using shorts and shirts/"MMA" gear for competitions. I like tradition and I guess I'm a little resistant to change. To me, a singlet is what should be worn for competition. I'm sure there are others out there that would take the other side of this debate. Which ever side your on, let's here some opinions.

  3. Just watched Austin's match on Flo. Brinson is one tough guy. Has heavy hands and one heck of a nice sweep single. Austin comes back tough though. Gets his first takedown by relentless attacking and then almost hits a sweet inside leg trip. The 3rd period was all Austin. Lots of top pressure keeping Brinson on his hands. Nice use of his (Austin's) right leg too. He kept bumping Brinson at the elbow to stay in control. When Brinson musters up the energy to stand up, he gets rewarded with an explosive crotch lift and a nice resting place on his back to start counting the lights. Outstanding ride out in the period. In college, that would have been a 9-3 match due to riding time. Great match with lots of excitement. Great job Austin. Best of luck at Flo, Fargo, and West Virginia!

  4. Whoa whoa whoa big man, instigators like me? You better re read my posts pal. I've never metioned a word about either of your kids. What is there to say that you haven't already? Honestly after NHSCA and Fargo, to me neither of your boys should be discussed on a high school forum anymore as they will both be college athletes. I would love to see Austin get his 3rd NHSCA title and double AA in Fargo before that happens though. And I've also never put the Carrs on blast. The Carrs are at the very highest of my list of people that I respect and mentor.

  5. Wow, try to give a couple of guys some credit and the hating starts! If you have hate in your heart, let it out! Hahahahahaha! Whether people like it or not, these guys did wrestle in KY, now they don't. So by definition, they are former KY studs. For comparison, how many people know where Anthony Davis went to high school? Not very many. He's known for playing at UK, therefore he is a former UK player. Right? I know, I know.....blaspheme, he mentioned basketball on a wrestling site. Suck it up buttercup, it was used as a comparison, that's all.

  6. Not only did both of these guys win individual titles today, both of their teams won a team State Championship as well. David wrestles for Dayton Christian a D3 team. Kyle wrestles for St Paris Graham a D2 school. Very big day for both of these young men.

  7. 2 former KY studs are doing work in OH. David Carr and Kyle Lawson will both be wrestling in the finals of the OH State Championships tomorrow. Kyle is looking to become a 2x OH State Champ, while David is going for his 1st OH State Championship. Both have been dominant so far. I know David has 2 techs and a pin. He won 21-6 in the semis. Kyle has been just as dominant pinning his opponent in the semis. Good luck to both of these young men tomorrow.
