I will take note of that and talk with the powers that be, but I’m thinking that number 1 ranking is right around the corner for your boy. -

Seriously though, I remember about 100 years ago when Coach Coomes was doing rankings. He did the best he could with what information he got, but nothing like Ranger. I always look forward to seeing new rankings. Who’s up, who’s down, who’s new. It has helped tremendously learning who the new up and comers are. Great job as usual Ranger. Thanks for all the time you put into these. -

I feel like you are really under estimating Joe Smith. The kid is extremely average and should be treated as such. Bob Jones on the other hand is something else all together. Lol -
I have to disagree a little here. I was raised in the sport of wrestling, and I wasn’t ever necessarily brought up under the “team” aspect. Fortunately as our team grew, we became fairly tough and competed very well. There were a few on our team, such as myself, that truly enjoyed seeing the whole team prosper. Winning an individual tournament was great, but seeing the team win was far better. Now as a coach, I love it all...obviously. But if you ask me whether I’d rather have this person win or this person win, I’d say nah, let’s get the team win. This is where GOO and I respectfully disagree...I love seeing the chess game between teams and seeing if a coach can outwit the other during duals. There is a time for individual champs (KHSAA State Tournament) and there is a time for team State Champs (KWCA State Duals.) It’s a never ending debate and that’s ok. At the end of the day, we are all passionate about wrestling and just want to make sure we are doing what’s best for the kids. Isn’t that what really matters? Best of luck to all this season. And to all, stay healthy. Easier said than done. Graduating injured sure is tough.

I don’t know who you are or what exactly you know about all of that, but you are 110% correct. David overcame a lot of adversity that season. I text him after his big win over Caleb Young. He was quick to respond and humble as usual. Always giving the glory to God.

ATM wrestling to today at the Lindenwood Open. Looks like he got the 4 seed. You can follow on Track and or watch on Flo.

So, what I found out when I went last time was, when wrestlers fall in the first session, their family is done. I bought tickets for like $10 to get in the first session and then bought family passes after that. It might sound bad, but they (most of them) aren’t going to come back and watch, so why not buy their tickets that they will throw away? Obviously it’s never a guarantee, but I attended all sessions last time for around $50. Pretty amazing. Ran into Jordan Burroughs family at UNO’s pizza. They were great. Everyone in a wrestling town on a wrestling weekend are awesome. People who are ex wrestlers that have became MMA stars are so approachable and glad to talk with you. So different than any other sport. Talked with Tyron Woodley and Chael Sonnen. Super down to Earth. Dan Henderson was at our hotel just hanging out with us “common folk.” Lol. So many memories and good times. We (KY) should be flooding Columbus for duals and St Louis for NCAAs. Such a great time.

Anyone heading to the Olympic Trials? I went 4 years ago when it was in Iowa City. It was incredible. Iowa did an excellent job hosting. I think I’m going to travel into enemy territory and go watch again this year at Penn State. I’m sure they will do an excellent job as well. So many loaded weight classes. So many World Champs, NCAA Champs and AA’s. I remember last time being so excited to see Metcalf vs Pico, and neither of them even made the team. As the tournament unfolds, story lines become intriguing. (2016 Dan Dennis and Tony Ramos WOW!!) Yep, just talked myself into going for sure. Haha .

Couldn’t agree more. Gross is most definitely a serious threat at 57kg. I just have to wonder about the weight cut affect. I still wish Seth would have stayed a Hawkeye. But on a personal level, I’m glad he was able to get away from his troubles and flourish. I met his father at the NCAAs a couple of years back. Very humble Christian man. Hard not to root for Seth.

Lauren Walton takes 5th. Great job! What an awesome time to be a part of KY wrestling. Year after year we see our own homegrown kids achieve these amazing accomplishments. The ladies we have representing KY are coming up very quickly. Hopefully we get some more KY colleges supporting both men’s and women’s wrestling. Best sport on Earth, hands down.
-
Messerly takes runner up. Got upset by a last second takedown. The New Jersey girl wrestled tough all match long. I would bet they will see each other again down the road.
-
Spencer Moore with an impressive 6th place finish. Congrats! Lauren Walton to wrestle for 5th.
-
Moore to wrestle for 5th. Walton is in consolation semi finals
-
Olivia Messerly is in the finals!
-
KY will have at least 3 All Americans coming home from the Super 32. Lauren Walton and Olivia Messerly are in the semi finals and Spencer Moore has battled through the wrestlebacks. Moore could place as high as 3rd but is guaranteed no less than 8th. Outstanding job by all. Addison Messerly and Brayden Fannin are still alive battling in the wrestlebacks. The ladies are tied for 6th place as a team right now.

Thanks man
-
Can someone post the results? Thanks
-
CJ Cardwell will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Midway University.
-
Mason Smith is in the semis. Looking very good so far. Ryan Moore wrestling tough as well. He is battling through wrestlebacks right now. Great showing by both guys! Keep it up. If you have a Flo Pro account you can watch it live.
-
Ryan Moore takes a tough loss in a barn burner OT match in the consi quarters. Represented KY very well today!
-
Nice!! Any thoughts on him transfering after this season?
-
As a coach with Team KY last year, I can tell you guys that both teams will get all of the tough competition that they want. Last year Rusty really had to pull teams together rather quickly, and man, what a success we had. Those teams impressed! These 2 teams this year should really make some noise at Wabash. I expect to see another plaque come home home to KY! To Ranger and Dutch, I am a huge fan of the All Star dual. It is an awesome way to kick off the season. Now that my son is done with high school, I’d love to kick around some ideas with you guys about trying to make the All Star event even better. Give me a shout, I’d love to help.

Your negative marks came directly from me, as they were posted.

So sorry. Never meant to take your job/agenda away from you. This is your territory. Your only correct fact is that Sean is without a doubt, one of KY’s best. We “KY” have many great wrestlers, male and female that will AA in years to come. Nobody is fooled with your weak attempt at a compliment only to throw shade on the backside. Nice negative thumbs down on Jan 11th post that only complimented Sean. Wasn’t there 30 minutes ago. Hmmmmm. Agenda.
