Seems like there is quite a bit of confusion. I went to the KYWCA website to try and confirm dates and and locations, but it hasn't been updated for quite sometime. Hopefully Coach McCoy or someone will see this thread and we can get some answers.

Favorite Wrestling Venue (High School Only)
Nike Man replied to wrestlefever's topic in High School Wrestling
Speaking of the State tournament and how it has consistently went down hill since leaving Frankfort, I recently heard that Mike Barren and the KHSAA took possession of the award podiums from our coaches association. Unfortunately the KHSAA didn't realize how much room the podiums need for storage so they threw them out. They are gone. The center piece of the award ceremony is gone. Won't be long before we are wrestling in a barn standing on roll bales for podiums, with no face offs! -
Meant to type quite a few KY kids, not KY teams.

Agreed that GMVWA is/was a grind, but "taking 2nd there is probably harder than winning almost any tournament here" doesn't speak too well of what you believe KY wrestling has become. I thought the GMVWA overall was rather average this year, compared to years past. Not saying that Brown's weight class wasn't tough, I'm sure it was. Just saying that there are a quite a few KY teams that could have gone up there and won it this year, in my opinion. But back to my original question, why no Z. Brown?

No Brown vs Roberts?!? What the heck?

Favorite Wrestling Venue (High School Only)

The Civic Center in Frankfort was awesome. As a wrestler, the crowd felt like they right on top of you. As a spectator, you couldn't ask for a better venue. We never should have moved the State tournament out of Frankfort. -
Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2015/2016 - DECEMBER 21
Nike Man replied to Ranger123's topic in High School Rankings
106 will have some rankings shaken up, but nothing like 113. 113 at the WCI was chalked full of talent. Tylan Tucker is definitely the favorite and a rock solid #1, but the rest of the field is up for grabs. Haverstick had a great tournament as well as Deck. Mattox dropped 3 matches. Should be interesting. -
According to Trackwrestling, it looks like there will be some exciting match ups in the semis and finals tomorrow. Also looks like some teams didn't make it. I would be interested in knowing if they were cancellations or if they were flat out "no shows." If they were "no shows", what could/should a host team/school/coach do about it? In my opinion, I would contact the AD of the "no show" school and ask for the lost entry fee as well as ban that particular team from the tournament indefinitely, depending the circumstances. Thoughts?

From the outside looking in, Landon seems like a great kid with too many irons in the fire. He is probably best known locally for football, but from what I heard, his 1st love is track and field. (Ranked nationally I believe.) Landon, don't rush anything. Take care of you and your future. Every sport will end, make sure you take care of what matters most....YOU. -
Of the KY teams, I would choose Central or possibly Wayne to come out on top. I have no clue about the out of state competition, but Larue is rebuilding and not quite there yet.

Unfortunately, no KY kids to report on, but great news for a former KY State Champ. David Carr is now the 2015 145lb Beast of the East Champ. Add that to his 1st place finishes at Super 32 and Ironman, and I'd say that accomplishment now makes it a high school wrestling trifecta! Congrats to David and the whole Carr family.

Congrats to the WV guys. Great showing. Moore's performance was outstanding.

I put this in the wrong forum. Apologies.

I haven't seen any chatter on here about the 5 Star. Normally a pretty tough tournament from what I've heard. Does anyone have a list of teams that are attending? And, what type of format they use (duals, tournament, ect.)?

Seeding is out for the 2015 Walsh Ironman. Looks like Trinity has 3 seeded wrestlers. Tyler Frankrone is seeded 6th, Hudson Heidorf is seeded 10th, and Keegan Duncan is seeded 11th. Good luck guys.
-
Just saw that it was updated with the teams on Track. Thanks again.
-
Thanks Coach. Any idea what teams will be there?
-
I only stated David Carr's results because you used his name as a reference. I assumed you were comparing the most recent results. I think everyone understands the point you are making.
-
If you were talking about David Carr, he didn't lose at Super 32. Won that and Ironman. But I get what your saying.
-
David Carr knocks off the #3 and #1 ranked guys in country to win the Walsh Ironman title. Congrats to David and the Carr family.
-
Looks like Tyler Frankrone is the only KY wrestler to make the semi finals. Congrats Tyler.
-
Great job! ^^^^Are wrestlers allowed to wear "club team" singlets during a regular season tournament?
-
Absolute hammers. David Carr is ranked 4h in the country and he is the 3 seed at this tournament!!

The CIWT would have been the Conner Invitational Wrestling Tournament.
