NatureBoy, I know that Mark wasn't a 106, I was just making a comparison of two 7th graders that were very close to winning the State Tournament. I absolutely agree that we have some excellent 7th graders and 8th graders alike.

There was a 7th grader just a few years ago by the name of Trevor Lawson that wrecked some hopes and dreams at State as well. He was about as close as you can be to winning it, much like Mark Hall. I look forward to seeing Escalera at State. I love seeing young talent. Does Escalera have a favorable draw?

Knob, I've got a question for you. By your logic, does everyone who finished in front of Frankrone at regions move ahead of him in the rankings?

Hey Ranger, just wondering if you have ever considered my suggestion from earlier. Only rank the top 10 and then list 10 or so contenders (in no particular order.) It may even lighten your load a little. Just a though..

Not to sound like a jerk but, if he deserves to be ranked, he'll prove it this weekend. Ranger's rankings are not carved in stone, nor are they perfect. I'll one up GOO and say once you get past the top 10, it's just some other guys that are on the radar. Maybe Ranger should only rank the top 10 and then the rest can be labeled as "contenders" or "up and coming" that way no one is arguing over 16th and 17th, or whatever the case may be.

I was told by a Coach that was told by Mike Barren directly that the podiums were thrown away. I haven't heard about new ones being built, but I hope that is true.

It's going to look really special seeing the top 8 placers standing shoulder to shoulder on the floor getting their quarter sized medals. The KHSAA always doing the classy thing.

Maybe the KHSAA can use the extra money from parking to buy new podiums for the medalist, since they allowed our old ones to be thrown away due to "not having anywhere to store them."

Maybe Coach Case could let them sleep on the mats in the gym. I've done it many times for camps. Not the most ideal situation, but it could be a remedy to the situation.

Where was Boston and ATM this weekend? I was looking forward to a big weekend from both.

First and foremost, I want to thank Moore for hosting the KY JV State Wrestling tournament. The check in and weigh ins were organized and handled very well. It was a long day, but no fault to the Moore staff. Quality matches and brackets take a while to wrestle out. I was very pleased with the quality of the kids and teams that competed yesterday. Congrats to Oldham Co and St X finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. As I've seen on the youth/middle school forum, I would like to see some feedback from other coaches and parents as to their experience yesterday. In retrospect, I think we would have been better off seeding the tournament. As the quality of wrestling grows in KY, we should respect those who have put in the time and work to be seeded. Also, I think we should respect those who place with a worthy medal ceremony. That being said, once again, I think Moore did an excellent job yesterday. And hats off to them and all their family support system for a great day of wrestling.

Looks like Nathan will be the starting 141 for Iowa State for the remainder of the season. A good call for Kevin Jackson if you ask me. It's been a tough start with Nathan hitting 2 ranked 141s out of the gate. Looks like he will hit one more tomorrow. You can't ask for better experience though.

Anybody know what's going on with Nathan Boston? I know he beat Larson soundly in their wrestle off and then took a close 1 point loss to Joey Dance. I heard he was sick the following meet, but I was hoping to see him back for the dual against Iowa. I think he would have gave Gilman a much better match than Larson did. Then, once again I was disappointed this weekend when he wasn't at the Cliff Keen Inv. I look forward to seeing him on the mat.

Just looked it up on Trackwrestling, Klein has in fact made 106/108 this season. As long as he hasn't had a weigh in that messes up his descent plan, he will be eligible to wrestle 106/108 at the Regional tournament.

I see what crl138 is saying. The question is, has Klein wrestled 106/108 at all this year? If the answer is no, I'm pretty sure he isn't eligible to drop now.

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if he made the drop or not. Definitely a tough up and comer. Just thought it would make for a good match. The Morgan kid at 113 from Apollo is pretty tough too.

Don't have a dog in the fight, but I would expect a coach (with integrity), that has a head to head loss with another seedable wrestler, would do the admirable thing and admit the defeat.
