Yep! Twice! Once in KY and once in MN.
  3. I think he might of meant Zeke Moisey
  4. ^^^^That's Twoooooooooo!!!!!! Lol! Nature Boy, your a wild man. That's good stuff!!
  5. Oshenbein was the MAN of the State Tournament....period. Not Saul, not AJ, not Ryan, but Dallas! The kid peaked at the right time and earned himself a Championship. Ryan will be fine. I see 2 gold medals in his future. Saul is Saul. Everyone knows what he is capable of doing. His MOW is coming without a doubt. AJ, don't build yourself up to be the bad guy and then hate and get mad when your called out or booed for being the bad guy. That's the role you chose, embrace it. And as far as the Nature Boy goes, in the great words of T-Rex, "if you ever see me fighting a bear, you better stop and help the bear!" Haha!
  6. I watched that match last night, amazing! The match, the crowd, the atmosphere was out of this world.

    KWCA State Tournament

As mentioned in a different thread by firemans34, why not look at a KWCA State Tournament. Why hasn't this option been explored? I have actully voiced this opinion in the past to some coaches, but Inhabe never really ran with it or got a feel from a large majority. In my opinion the middle school coaches association runs a much nicer State Tournament with the emphasis on the KIDS! The trophies and medals are much better not to mention the finals singlets. Why do we have to wrestle a KHSAA State Tournament? Why can't we separate ourselves? I could be wrong, but I would be willing to bet that the majority of high school coaches would be in favor of this. To my knowledge, the KHSAA doesn't sanction any of our in season tournaments anyway. So why let them make money and piggyback off of the hard work that these coaches and athletes put in on a yearly basis? The medals suck. The finals are lackluster. And a coach couldn't find a decent to meal to save his life!! Lol. We as a coaches association could keep the money in house to help better our athletes. Possibly pay for state wide camps and clinicians. Almost anything would be better than what we have! I for one would be a huge supporter of a KWCA State Tournament. Let the KHSAA stick to their precious basketball and football State Tournaments.

    KWCA State Tournament

Lol! I wrestled in the State Tournament when it was held at Atherton, it was a joke for sure. When they stepped up to the Civic Center in Frankfort, it finally seemed like a "real" State Tournament. But, in my opinion, since we went to a 32 man watered down bracket and then moved it to a horse barn, we moved ten steps back in the wrong direction. Every year it is compromise after compromise with the KHSAA. In the letter that Mr. Canter shared from the KHSAA on another thread, it stated that one of the reasons we wrestled the 3rd, 5th, and 7th place matches at the same time as the finals was to recognize all the kids. At what point do we quit sheltering these young men from the "everyone wins" mentality? If we can't teach this to them by the time they are in high school, we as a society are in big BIG trouble!

    KWCA State Tournament

GOO, once again I see where you are coming from and I understand your concerns. Here are some questions to you. Are you familiar with the middle school association? Have you been to a Middle School State Tournament? Are you familiar with the middle school association members and bylaws? I don't ask these questions to be a smart a??, I ask because it is important to know. The middle school association is a well oiled machine that has their ducks in a row. Their bylaws address each of your concerns specifically. I think if you did a little research, you may be fairly impressed.

    KWCA State Tournament

Great points and I can definitely see where you are coming from. But, here is where I'm at.. 1. We already have multiple team champs in the State Duals. We will also have multiple team champs anytime that a big school wins the individual State Championship. 2/3. I haven't heard of any middle school programs dropping wrestling due to not being part of KHSAA. Why would high schools be any different? The middle school association has done a wonderful job growing the sport. Although it is the ultimate goal for the KHSAA to overtake all middle school sports, to my knowledge they haven't....yet. The KHSAA is like a union, you pay your dues, keep your mouth shut, and you won't have any problems.

AND THE SPIRIT AWARD GOES TOO ...

Normally you wouldn't see coaches react in such a manner unless they are protecting a kid. I can't tell you if he was unconscious or not, I'm not a doctor. I can only assume that no penalty points were awarded because the referee was in over his head and had no clue how to handle the situation. He may not have seen the choke, but the evidence was obvious. What would happen if a ref didn't see a kid bite the other kid, but was shown the teeth marks during a break in the action?

AND THE SPIRIT AWARD GOES TOO ...

After re-reading your post that I commented on, I see what you were saying. And I agree about Upchurch knowing the rules, although I have my own feelings as to his ethics. After wanting to receive an injury default win for his wrestler after an illegal hold was used was ridiculous. He can be upset all he wants, the better and more deserving wrestler prevailed and should have won by DQ.

Tilt, according to your post, Danny "Upchurch knows his stuff" lol, but the "WC coaching staff, not so much." Please explain your expert opinion.

No correction needed, you are correct tccx. Tilt, being choked out and being knocked out are 2 totally different situations.

    Small School State Team Runner-Up!

Confused Spectator, please don't misread my post. In no way was my intent to discount North Oldham. I should have given Coach Zeppa and his team their credit. North Oldham absolutely deserves their moment in the spotlight and I apologize for not making that more apparent.

    mow

Bryce is an elite wrestler without a doubt. The deal with MOW is, there isn't any criteria as to who a coach votes for. Some coaches vote for the body of work, and some vote on just the state tournament. It's a crap shoot. I think Dallas O was a great choice for the simple fact that he beat some studs and the favorite on his way to winning his State Championship. But, I also wouldn't argue if Sheffer or even Yost won it. If anyone paid attention, Yost ran the freaking gauntlet on the way to his State Championship. Either way, you could fight for any of these guys. To all that won and finally realized their dream, congrats!

Joey is a warrior. There was no doubt that he was going to continue and ultimately put on a clinic. Like Woodford or not, their kids are warriors and their coaches and fans are extremely passionate! Hail Woodford!

    Small School State Team Runner-Up!

First of all, kudos to Coach Roth. I've been around him for a number of years now and I can say with complete confidence that he is a man of class and honor. Truly one of the good guys!! That being said, I believe we need to change the format for who gets what trophy. In my opinion, why should the small school teams receive extra special attention? It's obvious small school teams can hang in there all the same with the big schools. My thought is, if a big school is your overall KHSAA winner, the first small school is the coaches association winner. If the overall KHSAA winner is a small school, your coaches association winner is from the large school division. Just makes more sense to me. Either that or just do away with the coaches association trophies all together. They really don't do anything else for US with OUR money anyways, so why do trophies either? The middle school association runs circles around these yo-yos!

    Watching State

Unfortunately, Mike Barren and Julian Tackett could care less. The State Tournament isn't about the kids, it about the KHSAA and the showboat referees!!

    State Prediction Game 2016

Probably so. Union is a truly blessed program as a whole. If the current scoring holds true, 1 Union- Small School Dual State Champs 2 Oldham- Big School Dual State Champs 3 Woodford- Big School State Runner Up 4 North Oldham- Small School Runner Up Who says duals don't mean anything?? Lol.

    State Prediction Game 2016

As far as the above post goes, that's the Big School Duals State Champ, Big School Duals State Runner Up and Small School Duals State Runner Up. Sound like a tough region to me.

    HEADS UP

I would be curious to know what the average total per person, per KHSAA State Tournament event cost. The cost for parking and individual tickets for football, basketball, underwater basket weaving, etc. Seems like it would cost $35 for 1 single individual to buy 1 all session ticket and park for 2 days for the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.
