Which freshman are poised to make a deep run at the NCAA Championships this March?
Nike Man replied to Chris Duke's topic in College Wrestling
That's why I asked. I tried to find projected lineups for tomorrow for both teams, but didn't see anything. Figured you would have the inside scoop. -

Will ATM get the start tomorrow against Old Dominion? Look forward to seeing him in action! -
So glad to see John Shirkey in the line up. Great kid! He looked very sharp earning the tech.

Glad to see that Fulton has added a program. They definitely picked a great coach to lead them. Good luck to you and wrestlers Chad.- 1 reply

Is it safe to say that you could "PENN"cil that guy into the 120 spot?

Has Mizzou had their wrestle offs yet? How's ATM adjusting down there? Is he getting any work in with J'den?

Looks like our KY guys are off to a tough start. According to FloArena, Smallwood goes 0-2. Tough draw getting the #2 seed first round. Says he got DQ'd in his first match in the consolations. Johnson is 2-1 and in the round of 32 in the consos. Leading the pack is Sheffer. He is in 3-0 and in the championship round of 32. Best of luck to all of these young men!
-
Sheffer takes a loss in the round of 32, 5-4.

I was just on Flo and they had a great feature on this subject. Malicious Intent Episode 42 from the 3 minute mark to about the 31 minute mark. Great discussion both ways. Check it out.

That's easy....the FANS!! Haha! Best of luck to all!

That was a great article Dutch. I've never thought about the change in uniform as a better way to market the sport (i.e. selling jerseys). What a wonderful marketing tool! That alone made me reconsider how I personally feel about the whole debate. I've always been somewhat opposed to the idea, just for the simple fact of tradition. At the same time, I've also been on record saying that although I personally oppose the change, I would not stand in the way of anything that would help grow our sport. This article has been an eye opener and now I personally really like the idea. Thanks again Dutch for posting!

Is anyone else getting cut off around the 16-17 minute mark, or is just me? So far, love the match-ups guys!

Big congrats to David Carr! David won a bronze medal today at the Cadet World Championships. Dropped a heartbreaker in the semis 8-8. Something tells me we could possibly see him and Mark Hall together at the 2020 Olympics.

Julian and I had many "discussions" at the table. Sometimes our interpretations of the rules differed. Never once did he or I hold grudges afterwards. We'd discuss rules one round, and grab a sandwich together during a break. My son and I knew he was sick and we were lucky enough to grab a picture with him at the end of the season. Julian was a true ambassador of the sport and will be missed greatly. Prayers for his family and friends. God rest his soul.

I am one of those old guys who doesn't really like the new style. For me it just doesn't follow tradition. That being said, I think that if we as whole truly believe that this will break down some sort of barrier and get more participation, then it's worth a shot. I would never stand in the way of the growth of the sport I love.

About this time last year, Ranger and Dutch started to tease us with a "big announcement" coming. The big announcement of course turned out to be the first ever KY All Star Classic. That being said, I haven't heard anything about that this year yet. Are there plans in the works for this event to happen again?
-
^^^ Really? What was the "big announcement" then? I must have not done my homework. Lol
-
Lol, Thanks Dutch. I loved the concept last year and definitely think it needs to be an annual event.

Definitely would like to see Ervin and Reed. 160 and 170 could switch up a bit. Andreoni and Smallwood could be interesting. Also Roberts could be in there with Johnson and Brown. Wheeler could be in there with Wallace and Bender, or maybe Moore and Tucker. All of these have the potential for match of the night. I just really like the idea of putting our best against one another. Good fun! Great debates! So many after thoughts!

Call me old school but I am not a fan of how wrestling is trending towards using shorts and shirts/"MMA" gear for competitions. I like tradition and I guess I'm a little resistant to change. To me, a singlet is what should be worn for competition. I'm sure there are others out there that would take the other side of this debate. Which ever side your on, let's here some opinions.

Congrats to Tyler and your whole family. Can't wait to see him at the next level.

Great news! NC is making some big noise on the national stage with the additions of Tony Ramos and Kenny Monday.
