That stinks. Can't believe no one can get a gym. Hate to hear that. -

Don't you guys have Sectional Duals this weekend? -
Yes. They are both at Lindsey Wilson.

Predicting the small school isn't going too far out on a limb. The large school is something different all together. I would guess X or WC as the big school winner. The matchups are interesting. If Union was beating St X and or Trinity for football State Championships, I could see where you could make the small school has "beat up" on the big school comment. But we are talking wrestling. Maybe 80-90 teams total across the state. IMO we are not big enough for 2 divisions. Union has figured it out, for now. Their turn will be over and someone else will step up. Just the nature of the beast.

With most of the Sectional Dual Tournaments coming up this weekend, I thought this thread would be fun to bring up again. A couple of conversation starters.... Small School favorites- Union County, Walton Verona, Larue, and Wayne County Big School favorites- St. X, Woodford, Johnson Central, Madison Central, and Simon Kenton Does the big school and small school winners wrestle each other?? Ready......set......GO!

Couldn't agree more with your analysis. The Hawks have done a great job recruiting and reloading for next year. Wilcke is definitely being a team player. He will fit in nicely at 184 next season. You know, Sam Stoll could be the "heavy hitter" that could be huge swing in this dual and at the NCAAs. Snyder and Medberry are the clear favorites, but Stoll is one tough customer when he's healthy. He could come through with a pin in the dual this weekend. Although doubtful, I've still got my fingers and toes crossed that Marinelli tosses "the shirt." #GAMECHANGER!

Speaking of Minnesota, you got to wonder what type of impact the firing of JRob has had on recruiting. To me, JRob was the closest thing to Gable you were going to get these days. Don't get me wrong, the Brands are Gable philosophy 2.0, but JRob had that old school about him. Definitely one of the all time best!

I love my Hawkeyes, and I hope your predictions are right! I'm worried that we are going to drop one that we are slightly favored. I'm not sure Cory Clark is ready for Kaid Brock.....yet. I'm not worried so much about that matchup in March, but right now, I have concerns. The Sorenson vs Collica match makes me a little nervous as well. Not quite as nervous as the Clark Brock match though. Should be awesome for any wrestling fan. It does stink that the B10 Network isn't carrying the dual on cable. You have to have BTN2GO. I'm pretty sure Flo is showing it live on FloPro. The next few weeks are going to be crazy! TOSU at Iowa, PSU at Iowa, and PSU at TOSU! In the words of the Nature Boy... Whoooooooooo!

Totally agree. We need consistency. And as a coach, I would have held up the entire tournament if need be, and had the "head official" come to the mat and make the call. Stand in the middle of the mat if you have to. Twice this year, we have had officials make very inappropriate statements to not only us, but also our wrestlers. Enough is enough. I like most refs, but some can be overbearing, stripe wearing, jack asses that are so "little" in their day to day lives, that they need to be "big bad" tough guys on the weekends. We also need to get rid of pansy refs who can't make a call to save their life! C'mon KHSAA, pay for some classes for Pete's sake!

I think it's possible they take the redshirt off from him, but not likely. I definitely think it is the only way they could possibly be competitive with PSU. Should be very interesting down the stretch.

Iowa vs Michigan tonight at 7:00 on BTN. Iowa should dominate the dual, but some possible really good matches, i.e. Micic vs Clark. Not sure if Clark will be back tonight or not. But if he is, this may be match of the night!

Massa is definitely the truth. Once he beat Jordan, I started to believe. I. Jordan is one of my favorites for sure. I'm very pleased with Kemerer as well. I'd love to see Iowa let Marinelli loose this year. I believe he could be the difference maker that they need to put them over the top this year.

I know Whitley is out, but there are a few other eastern KY teams (Ashland, Pikeville, Sheldon Clark) on the schedule. Anyone know the status of these teams for tomorrow?

I was only speaking to the scenario. I don't know Meade Co's coaches or kids and in no way was I trying to take a stab at them. I have a feeling this particular scenario plays out in many rooms across the state. The best outcome is in the eyes of the beholder. As a coach, you just got to do the best job that you can and try to be as fair as possible. You can't make everyone happy all the time. Comes with the job I suppose. -
120 Insko and Drew Johnson should be a good one.

As you said, both A and B have paid their dues. Why make wrestler A cut the weight (punish him) for doing what he is supposed to day in and day out? I understand having log jams with multiple good kids on a team. It's tough. But if wrestler A beats wrestler B in a wrestle off, wrestler A is your guy for that weight. The decision now, in my opinion, falls on wrestler B to decide how bad he wants to compete. Does he become wrestler A's back up, or does he challenge for the next weight up on his team? From the outside looking in, it sounds like wrestler A got put in a bad situation that should have been and could have been avoided. -

CradleKY, you make some very good points. Woodford does need bigs for sure. Tucker's "replacement" has been solid. The Larue dual was actually pretty close and I believe Woodford was forfeiting 2 or 3 weights that night. Not taking anything away from Larue, I believe that their coaching staff is bringing them back to their winning ways. Ranger, I didn't realize that the dual rankings were formula based. I assumed head to head dual results were the driving force. The Madison Central vs Woodford duals have been pretty close with Woodford winning both times. Definitely going to be a fun last few weeks of the season. -

How does Walton Verona and Madison Central jump over Woodford in the dual rankings? -
Couldn't agree more. Never shows emotion on the mat. He is one cool customer.
-
Mark Hall just pinned the 5 seed in the semis!

All rankings are appreciated. Fun to stir conversation.
