I really do appreciate the work and time that you and whoever else put into this. So do you think that we will go back to having the State Duals at 2 separate locations? I like the idea of having the big schools and small schools together, but I don't like this set up. Do we really need 8 mats? Couldn't 6 mats work since there is only 12 teams per class. Have small schools on mats 1-3 and big schools on mats 4-6. Small school fans on one side, big school on the other. Championship matches run simultaneously on the center mats. We could have a venue rocking!! Not sure what the cost of any of these facilities would be, but I would much rather spend more out of the budget and put on a heck of a show under one roof, then to try to penny pinch and take what we can get. I wouldn't care if this event didn't make a dime. As long as you break even, you haven't lost a thing. Are we doing it to make money, or are we doing it for the kids?

I'm not trying to sound ungrateful to Lindsey Wilson for hosting. Just don't understand why we would have it somewhere that can't hold everything under one roof.

If you click on the bracket it will show the location under each pool. Very disappointing to find out that we will be at 2 different locations and will be moved around at different points during the day. That's a pain for all involved! Why in the world are we at a location that can't have everyone under one roof? Ridiculous.

Just had an opportunity to look at the final results. Our KY guys did well. Very impressed with John Hardin. Garcia knocking off Whorton. Haverstick earning 3rd. Smallwood taking 1st. Johnson wrestling Humphreys to a 4-2 match. Very very good results. Congrats to John Hardin for a very solid performance.

Should be pretty easy to figure out. D1-1 vs D2-4 D1-3 vs D2-2 D2-1 vs D1-4 D2-3 vs D1-2

No 113 and 195 for MC will make a difference. Totally over looked Simon Kenton on the list. They will be a force to reckon with as well.

That looks better seeing those JC guys in there. 145 must be a butt kicker of a bracket to drop Trent to 3.

Should come down to Walton Verona, Madison Central, and Larue for the team championship. I will take them in that order. #1 WV/#2 MC/#3 LC

Has Trent Johnson ever wrestled Humphrys? Should be one heck of a match. Humphreys is an animal, but his cardio looked a little supspect when I saw him this year. I think Trent wins this match up. Also saw some former KY wrestlers by the last name of Whorton seeded #1 at 106 and 126. Glad to see they are continuing their success. I thought Johnson Central was supposed to be at this tournament. I didn't see any of their guys listed.

Also made his debut on the Flo Rankings. Came in at #15! Keep up the great work TJ!

It is about earning the opportunity. Have you ever had a high school freshman that wrestled throughout middle school come up to you and not understand why his teammate is wrestling in the regional tournament and he isn't? He is used to the mentality of everyone gets a chance. Every since youth wrestling, this is what we teach. When does the coddling stop?

I already regret that last post. Due to me wanting to make a point to you, I made it sound like I was downtalking these men. That was not my intention. They all deserve our utmost respect as wrestlers. My intention was to show that you were only talking about one, when there are many more to talk about.

MLee, you make excellent points. I don't want to exclude anyone, especially if they are 2 of the best. Just trying to see us grow, and in my opinion, growing isn't always a number game. I didn't realize that the youth had made that amendment. Sounds like you guys are doing a great job. I know that you and I have been at odds in the past, but, at the end of the day, it sounds like we both want what is best for our sport. Neither right or wrong, just both, very bull headed.

I agree Wildcat, we should post about KY college wrestlers on the KY wrestling forum. That being said, where is the posts about Blackwell and his accomplishments? How about all the Ervin's and what they accomplished in college? What about Jayce Carr and what he's doing? Haven't really heard a darn thing about these guys. Please enlighten us on these D1 standouts.

Otto, I have seen where you have given Austin his due in the past. But recently, as GOO stated, you guys are just poking the bear. And no one suggested you "duke it out." Just thought you and Wildcat would get further and have a better understanding with a face to face encounter. I think that you and Wildcat are quite knowledgeable in a lot of these topics. And, by you being such knowledgeable folks, I can only assume you both know that you are being antagonists. So maybe 2 smart guys like yourselves could find something better to do. Just did it.

C'mon Otto and Wildcat. You guys have made your points over and over again. Find a new subject and get over your obsessions. It's getting rather old. Your problem is with the Dad, not the wrestler. But, in order to "attack" Dad, you sh!t on the kid. If you want to discuss this with the Dad, I feel quite certain he will tell you where you guys can meet him. Or better yet, him, Steph, and ATM. Your choice.

I understand building programs and numbers. But, in my opinion, this should be done on the youth level. By the time our kids reach middle school, we should be able to distinguish between varsity and jv. I would guess some district numbers are inflated due to teams entering multiple kids per weight class. If numbers give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside, then all is well. No need for change. If more competitive wrestling and improving as a state is the goal, then obvious changes need to be made. Numbers are great, but how are those numbers translating into high school? Not great. Better competition and elite level wrestlers are making the bigger splash. I don't really have a dog in the fight. Just have an old school mentality of you get what you earn. Numbers are great for the eye test, but at the end of the day, I'll take quality over quantity.

Possible solution- 1- Get rid of having multiple entries by the same team in one weight class. Simply stated, 1 kid, per team, per weight class. 2- Drop the district tournament. Too many times I have seen only 2-3 kids entered into a weight class at districts while other districts have plenty. Show up, weigh in, and go to regions. Sounds like youth wrestling to me. Time to put our big boy undies on. 3. Once the district tournament is eliminated, you keep your 4 regions, with plentiful numbers and have a great competitive tournament sending the best kids to state. Not popular ideas, I know, but it does introduce competitiveness at the team level for middle school. Just my thoughts though. Let the boos begin!

Union County is choosing not wrestle at State Duals?? Is this confirmed?

I actually saw this same thing last year. I was watching a Michigan State home dual and they had gymnastics going on at the same time. Although odd at the time, now that it has been mentioned, some type of partnership may make since.

Speaking of 133s, I'd say NATO will be the new number 1 after today's major decision over Zain Richards. Absolutely trashed him on his feet. I hate that the Hawkeyes lost, but you can't win if you lose the 50/50 match ups. Lots of work to do before March!
