Things that stuck out this morning. NATO and BoJo didn't look great in the quarters. Stevan Micic just may slip in there and win 133. TJ Ruschell won first round and lost to Nolf in the quarters. Needs to win 1 in the wrestle backs to AQ. Gilman is a damn monster. Marky Mark had a quick pin in the quarters. PSU will probably still win the Big 10s and NCAAs even without Suriano, they are just that good!
-
If Bo doesn't wrestle Mark and Suriano sits out and doesn't wrestle Gilman, I'm not going to be very happy! I am interested in the possibility of a Cory Clark/Nathan Tomasello match though.

Thanks to the wrestling community

And that is what it is all about. Greatest sport on Earth. -
I have zero inside knowledge, but I assume he is out due to the transfer. He has wrestled and done well since transferring. Should be in the mix next season at 133 or 141.

Wow! That's a very impressive win. Youtsey is a staple in that Wolverine line up. Congrats Sean!

C'mon doc! Prescribe her some meds and bring her too! Lol

''Twas the night before State, and all through the house, everyone was excited, including a mouse. The conditioning was done with care, hoping with the training, a State Championship would soon be there. The athletes, were all snuggled in bed, dreams of the gold medal, running through their head. Referees, waiting for the coaches' jawing, the wrestlers hoping to not get called for stalling. Moms and Dads, hoping for the best, all of the coaches are worrying about the rest. In just two days, it will all be done, but at the end of the day, all of the parents will be proud of their son. To all I wish the very best, now off to bed, you need your rest.

I've always explained to people who don't understand, that the night before State always keeps me up like a kid the night before Christmas. I love this time of year. I love seeing old friends. I can't wait for the next two days!! Good luck to everyone. Safe traveling and prayers for all.

Just signed up the whole team! Who needs Jeff Jordan or JRob? Dan Gable who? Who needs to attack when you can be passive. This is the camp of the truly innovative conservatives! We are starting de-conditioning immediately.

Outstanding!

I know this topic comes up every year around this time. What is the issue with Memorial Coliseum? It seats 10,000. What are some other viable options?

Alltech has never felt like home. I wrestled at State when it was at Atherton High School and I was also lucky enough to wrestle at the Civic Center in Frankfort. Frankfort had the best atmosphere of the three by far. I would be very interested in looking at Broadbent. I have heard a lot of really good things about it this year. The KHSAA could really do a better job finding us a new home.

That makes zero since. If Trae was supposed to win a State Championship, he would have won a State Championship. The fact that he was a senior and got beat by an 8th grader absolutely defeats your argument of letting middle school kids wrestle up. Apparently an 8th grade Carr (JV by your standards) was the better man that day at the big boy varsity State Tournament.

But, those byes should be random and not given to just the top seed or top seeds.
-
So just because it only effected 1 team, it's not a cause for conversation? No hidden agenda. Woodford had a ton of byes and lost Regionals by 2 points to very good Oldham Co. At no other tournament during the year does almost every #1 seed get a bye, they are randomly chosen by track. No sour grapes, just trying to understand why it is done this way once a year.
-
Thanks for clearing that up. I misread it.
-
GOO, how do you applaud seeding the regional tournament all the way out but yet your last sentence asks about punishing a superior wrestler? In my opinion, when you seed out the regional tournament, your punishing an entire team for having top notch kids. So, in the end, to answer your question, yes, we are punishing the better wrestlers.
-
Negative. Got beat by Woodring as a freshman. Won it as an 8th grader.

Got to give a lot of credit to Gene Wolf for that program getting started and feeding them quality kids year in and year out. Congrats to all involved, but a special congrats to Coach Wolf!! -

Yost has the best shot as of right now due to already winning a high school title as an 8th grader. The other youngsters mentioned are all very special talents, but haven't won anything on the high school level yet. But, of the ones mentioned other than Yost though, I think Moore probably has the best shot.

Byes should absolutely, 110%, no questions asked, be counted as wins! Your team gets penalized for having top level wrestlers? That's crazy!
