Yes go look it up on YouTube. The KHSAA official YouTube page has posted the entire finals session multiple times over the last decade. And the problem with getting a media company involved is the KHSAA would have to cooperate for that company to be able to get access for decent video coverage which is not likely.

I didn't have any issues when I did it. It was the commercial photography license and that allowed for video. I did the 2017 videos after the 2016 finals weren't recorded. I don't know who did 2018 and I only filmed one from the stands this year.

  2. If we want wrestling videos recorded, just hire a media company to come in and record them and they can post/give them away freely. There's little to no editing involved. Could the coaches association make that happen as well and do a gofundme.com to raise the money? Along these lines, I reached out David Rearic @ DR Productions and he said he would be interested. If that gets going, count me in as a donor.

However we as a wrestling community should have been notified that the finals were not going to be recorded so that someone could get it done for those who could not see it in person.

In the 5 years I have seen the state tournament, I don't think the state has ever released a full match video. I would expect them not to do it.

I would have loved to wrestle in a national event.  I loved wrestling so much that I even enjoyed when I got pummeling from someone much better than me.  Does that make me a masochist, or just stupid, or both? LOL.

Well, not stupid.. You used the word masochist correctly. :)

Definitely. Got it started. Just need to get it to Dutch to add some color commentary. Maybe we will finish it off next weekend as we watch our boys scrap at the National collegiate open.

Looking forward to it. Good luck to Ryan and Mason this weekend.

There are Coaches on the advisory committee and they talk with Mike Barren. I will say the Khsaa is hard to work with, but they have taken some suggestions and made things better. After the 4 mat thing a few years ago, they listened. They moved quarters to friday night to provide time for the medal rounds first, then a one mat final.

They have also worked with the KYWCA and allowed us to provide bracket boards and a secondary award to go with their tiny medals.

So while it is not ideal, perfect, or what we all wish it should be, it could and has been worse.

Just know plenty of coaches out there try hard to get to make everyones feeling known and are trying everything they can to improve it. I know Coach Upchurch, Detwiler,  Davis, and Founder all have and continue to work with khsaa to make improvements.

Thanks to the KYWCA for doing that. I know that the wrestlers appreciate it. Compared to the medal from a couple of years ago, the award plaque was a much better presentation, too! The bracket boards are awesome!

Sorry but the reffing was horrible all weekend. Refs still cant seem to understand the out of bounds rules, two refs didnt help when they were there. I think it was the very first finals match, went into the ultimate ride out.

Second finals match Johnson Central Matt Horn v Saint X Ben Deprest. Matt was on the mat being dragged around by Ben for a long time. The first finals ended with both wrestlers on their feet.

Wow.  I have to imagine if a former state champ lost in the first round before it hasn't happened often.

Good on Pratt for wrestling back to 3rd. Also picked up the most pins in the least amount of time award in the process.
