As I recall, last year we wanted to cancel but did not due to the fact that there were already teams in hotels in town. Therefore it would have been wasted money on those programs and families who had left early enough to spend the night. As you seem to be very upset over the idea that you traveled 6 hours to Danville in bad conditions, I would think you would be more understanding of how important it is to consider the timing of desision making for these events. Just because you drove in it does not mean that we wanted you or anyone else to be in harms way. We would have done the very same for our kids as well. I am sure going forward and with enough advanced weather information Danville will make every attempt to make a timely decision on such matters. In the matter of Alternates, I do believe there are rules that apply regarding Alternates for weight classes. These alternates have to come from that district first, then if they are not able they can pull from other districts. If your coaches disagreed, it should have been brought up in the Coaches meeting. I'm here in Cadiz. Spent money and tried to plan ahead even when the decision was glaringly obvious yesterday. I'm not sorry. We came ready to wrestle. However, yesterday morning should have been the time to make a commitment to HAVING the tournament to give people ample time to travel ahead of weather...not wait til after the weather begins. I honestly believe there was enough advanced weather information. Most schools were out yesterday and they were even aware they would be out today. This making yesterday the perfect time to travel and wait out the storm. Just as we attempted to do, even though I was sure there would be rescheduling of the event today. I am very sorry you felt slighted by our tournament. We did everything we could to resonably accommodate everyone. Hopefully we are all learning in the process and can do a much better job going foward. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend and the Econo Lodge in Cadiz has great staff. As I understand it, there are no stipulations on what kids you coach...just that you have a USA card to coach. I can't imagine that coaches would not step up and make sure a kid had someone in their corner under these conditions.

I am typing on my wife's account. I don't have one. I agree with most of what has been posted here. You are right about winter weather in Kentucky. I think we can also agree that regardless of where it's held, it's a pretty long trip. My wife's frustration is not in having to go to Trigg County or anywhere else. It's the unpredictable weather, the frustration of planning, and not being sure if my son will be able to wrestle. That is no one's fault. It is regrettable that there may be kids that won't be able to travel and compete. We are fortunate. We came on down, and I am typing this in a hotel in Cadiz. If we wrestle Saturday great; if not, we will be back next week. I know the conditions on the way to Danville last year were not good. Our school does not pay for transportation when we travel this far, so the decision to travel is up to the parent. If it took six hours to get to Danville I am sure the weather was really bad. I apologize if anyone felt they were in danger by attending last year. I assume there were some hard feelings there based on several of the reponses, weather reports, etc. Sorry to ramble. Can we just relax and wrestle?

I absolutely agree. I'm going to be furious if I get stuck paying for hotels this weekend because you guys didn't call this off on time then have to turn around and have to pay again next weekend. Not to mention if I get on the road and the roads are closed...and I can't get there. We are coming from Danville. My son has worked to hard for this to miss it but I am not sure that this is sound decision making from these regions still planning on having these tournaments.

Thank you for thinking of 182 Seamus Sallee. Unfortunately, this will not be his debut weekend. He is rehabing well but he had both meniscus and his ACL repaired. Even though he is rehabing great, and weighing in, it is unlikely he will be able to return to the mat before Spring. We have appreciated all the support from our wrestling friends, coaches, refs, and parents. He is trying to stay involve, support his team and stay positive through his recovery.
