The best decision was made for certain regions, but not for all. beside if you don't like reading crap then stop.

Competitive opportunities/restrictions for teams awaiting STATE

Its not these kids fault that this tournament was postponed and off season tournament are now starting. This needs to change and now.

This is ridiculous. These kids are forced to wait an extra 2-3 weeks. They are penalized again and cannot wrestled in other events. The KHSAA needs to make and exception. I saw lets continue to change things on these kids and continue to tarnish KY wrestling.

    SNOW!!!

The political part is that some regions were complaining that there kids would not be able to wrestle. Since this is a winter sport things like this happen. It does not matter if kids are off school. There are still places to workout. How come the coaches did not get permission to use the facilities (exceptions can be made). If a wrestler knows that they have to be at a certain weight why would they need an allowance. The weight allowance is abused anyway, but that is a different discussion. Why would a wrestler know that the State Tournament was coming up need to get back in to peak form. They should stay in peak form (other places to workout and exercise. Again these are all excuses. If we would have seen wrestlers miss weight, then that would have been their own fault. As high school wrestler they should know what needs to be done to make weight no matter what the weather is. If they don't make weight they don't wrestle, this should not be any different than any other tournament. This is fair to wrestlers and spectators as it would be the wrestlers responsibility, just like any other tournament. Making weight and the weather is the nature of the sport. Quit making excuses to accommodate the few.

    Postponed!

This is exactly what I am talking about. It should not matter how big of a logistical nightmare anything would be if it had to do with safety. You hit the nail on the head when you said "contract involved." That is what is important here not safety. If rescheduling an event had to do with safety then the contract could be renegotiated with out penalty. All this talk about kids not being able to make it, so many inches of snow (which we all in Kentucky received) sounds like excuses. To address the transportation issues. Most parents will be bring their high school kid to this tournament just like the youth tournament. Again sound like excuses.

    SNOW!!!

The problem I have is that everyone is looking out for their high school wrestler. Yes the event has been moved, but how fair is that to those that have been watching their weight, going to a gym, finding a place to work on some moves. Was this event moved because of the safety of our kids, I think not. As the youth tournament is still going on as scheduled. No one seems to be worried about them. It appears that this was a political decision and not a safety decision.

How can anyone say that the safety of our wrestlers is the most important when the youth tournament is going as scheduled. Is there safety not important. This appears to be a political issue and not a safety issue.

Does this also mean that the youth tournament that is supposed to take place on Sunday is not going on a scheduled? If our high school kids cannot make a tournament for Friday & Saturday then how will the youth make it Sunday? Just a question.

This was a real bad decision, especially to have it in the middle of the week. Everyone now has to change hotel reservations, request different times off of work, kids have to watch there weight longer. This is all because some school could not practice this week. This is absurd. This is also going to lower attendance and prevent some kids from going as their parents may not be able to get off of work.

    North Hardin Tournament

Chase Yost was first in the 105 with Allen Powers being 2nd. This was out of a 32 man bracket.
  13. My son did get first in both tourneys. I am hope that he will tomorrow as well. Good luck to your son tomorrow. It sounds like we all will need it.
  14. My mistake you are absolutely correct about the podium. I am getting my tournament confused. I just don't understand how you picked out the novice 100 lb class to point out a discrepencies. I do have pictures of my son on the podium as he did win both in his class. Not to sound like a broken record, but I believe that all the confusion comes with how the scoring is done. My son loves wrestling and I as a new youth coach, but I along with my son are getting very discourage with the lack of consistency in how tournaments are ran, weigh ins, weight classes, kids getting bumped up in weight classes with out being asked. If my son does not win this belt becaue of the way it is scored, I will buy him one myself. I wish you and your wrestlers the best of luck.
  15. Please bare with me as I am new to the forum. I did not know were pictures of the first tourney as the medals were handed out at the table, therefore there was no podium. I do think that there needs to be some verification as to who wins what round. In response to Bowbear1, it is obvious that my son won first in both tournaments as they have my son with 30 points. I believe that there needs to me more clarifiction as the way points are scored. I do not believe it is fair for a wrestle to only get 6 points if there is no one in his weight class to wrestle. It is not that wrestlers fault that no one showed up to wrestled in his class. This automatically knocks this child out of contention for a belt. These were some of the same issues that came up last year and it knocked my son out of getting a belt last year. I can say that if it happens again this year. I will not bring any wrestles back to this series.
