The Lawson's did not come here for the Carr's. They meet for the first time 2 days before school started during a open room.

Troy Nickerson NCAA Champion @ ETC Camp

I am very suprised with the growth of Kentucky wrestling and the support we are getting at ETC. I am very happy with the interest that wrestling is getting in Kentucky in the month of August. However, at this time I must report the camp is now Full and registration is CLOSED. I appologize that we no longer accept walkins but due to the large number of walkins at the Ramos camp we want to do our part to make sure kids have room to wrestle and get the one on one attention they deserve . I truely appreciate all the support and hopefully we see you soon. As always coaches are more than welcome to come by and watch whats going on at ETC. Thanks again,
  7. We are having a camp featuring Troy Nickerson 4X All American and Head Coach at Northern Colorado at ETC on Aug 16th-17th. We posted the camp information on the ETC Facebook page yesterday and are close to being full. I wanted to post on public forum to give others in the state opportunity to train with us at this camp. We have a few more spots available. I will list the names of the committed wrestlers. I apologize if I leave anyone off the list. Feel free to call @ 1-317-752-0698. 8. Here are my thoughts! All the programs listed other than maybe 1 have great coaches and established programs. Coach Hitchings has proven to be a winner at Trinity and now at FC. The addition of Brad Hitchings and myself will not change the direction of the program but give Hitchings a few more resources to work with. Coach Hitchings kids are technically sound and if Brad and I bring anything to the room that will be more intensity. Nothing earth breaking.. Yes Vega, intensity... Duck, you are very informed about Woodford wrestling so you know that I didnt coach there at any capacity. However, I did coach a few of their wrestlers since they were very young. ( Nathan, Kyle Lawson, Trevor Lawson) I have never coached at a middle school or a highschool and honestly never had the desire. My focus has been on clubs and travel teams such as ETC. If you have heard about one of my camps then you would know that we have a lot of out of state kids attend. I feel this is important to the development of our in-state kids. Brock and Fahy came into to our camps since they were very young and I feel it helped them at some capacity reach their goals. We have a nice core group of kids at ETC and hopefully I have met their expectations. I feel I am one of the luckiest coaches in the state because I get to work with so many great wrestlers from many different schools. As far as the torch being passed at Woodford. I think lil Rusty Parks and Ethan Miller will do a great job. Both are outstanding with the kids. I think it would be awesome to get Coach Rusty Parks back for a year to help mentor these guys. I am not sure if this job will be posted but I feel Rusty Parks has paid his dues and should have the opportunity to be the next head coach at Woodford. losing 2 State Champions and a 3rd place winner they will be in the reloading stage but I have all the confidence that the tradition will continue. Good Luck to all!

    ETC practice Schedule this week

Guys, Due to the number of kids we will be holding practice at the South Oldham location on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of this week. We usually have our Monday practice at Fern Creek but we need to make sure we have room to wrestle live. Once again a big thank you to Coach Wheeler, Coach Branch and Coach Hitchings for opening their rooms up. Also, please dont drive into the gated area. If you are dropping off please do so at the gate. They have been great to work with and this is not to much to ask. Schedule this week. Monday 6:30-8:30 South Oldham Tuesday 6:30-8:30 South Oldham Wednesday 6:30-830 South Oldham Sunday 6:30-8:30 South Oldham We will be adding a location in the Lexington area soon. If you are interested in opening your room to ETC please advise. We are confident we can bring in 50 kids from Central Kentucky. Thanks again for supporting ETC.

Do you need a ride to Virginia Beach?

I am not sure what you mean by picture. If you mean picture of shirt then we are not trying to sale them online. This post was more about trying to find someone that will rent a van that can take a few extra kids. Let me know if you are interested and if so come to practice on Sunday and I will give you the funds to rent the van. We have 2 ETC kids looking for a reliable ride. Thanks again, Pat, I will get you those shirts.. Thanks for helping these kids..
  11. Kids like wrestling t-shirts and the ETC guys asked if we would get some made. With that being said, Nathan has designed a shirt and we placed an order. The shirts should arrive on Friday and we will have them at practice on Sunday for $10. ETC will donate all the money to any coach or dad that will rent a 14 passenger van to take a few kids out to Virginia beach that needs a ride. We ordered 50 shirts so if we sell all 50 shirts that is $500 towards a 14 passenger van and gas.. ETC will take care of the cost of the shirts. Hopefully we have someone willing to do this. You should be able to get a van around $250 If we dont sell enough shirts I know a guy that may donate funds to help this still happen. If you an interested coach or dad please post your name then the kids can request a ride. Please contact me and be at practice on Sunday to pickup the funds. Thanks and good luck at Nationals.

    ETC is growing

I am very excited and thankful for the support we have received getting ETC off the ground. We cant be selfish and we need unity in the off season while having trust in one another. We must share our experience and coaching knowledge with all the Kentucky kids. With that being said I have seen coaches remove the school colors and come together to help all the wrestlers get better. I havent received one no when I have asked for help and I have received numersous calls asking how they can support ETC. We have kids driving hours to come to practice to work out together. At this time we have 2 locations to help with the drive so the same kids are not doing the long commutes everynight. This philosophy has worked out great and we are considering another location in the near future. I would be lying if I said this was my idea.. This was Nathans idea because he wanted the best partners possible and in return help others. I was a very poor wrestler but in the last 10 years I have learned so much from others and still do today. ETC was intended to be short for Elite Training Center and was named by Nathan. There are no secrets in our plan, It's about getting Kentucky wrestling better and together we can acheive that. We have about 15-20 guys at ETC training together for Nationals. This is short of amazing.. We are not here to take place of open rooms or highschool practices we are here only for suplimental training. Nathan spent hours looking for training partners and stayed frustrated. I dont want any kid to have to go through that again. No kid will ever be denied a practice or camp at ETC because of funding.. Every kid should have the same opportunities and success should be determined by hard work and dedication. At this time we are touching about 125 kids in one location or another or in different practices. In a short time this has out grown me and I need help. I knew I needed someone that was seeing different technique from various people with resources. With that being said, I would like to welcome LW college coaches and wrestlers to the ETC coaching staff. I am sure some of you noticed LW wrestlers training with us. There is nothing better than bringing college kids into a highschool practice to increase intensity. This will no longer be an exception but a normal situation at ETC. Please welcome Corey Ruff, Abe Cross, and LW wrestlers to ETC. If anyone knows Coach Ruff you understand the passion he has for helping kids and his desire to improve Kentucky wrestling. In closing I want to give a big thank you to Coach Wheeler and Coach Tucker for helping with all the admin work. Without you this couldnt be possible. I will see you ETC guys tonight at 6:30.. Please drive safe.. Thank you!

    Dapper Dan

Braycael, Sorry I didnt answer your question. This is not the same kid this kid was up a weight. This kid will not be ranked at Nathans weight. However, Nathan is the 3rd kid that was ranked #1 this year he has beaten. The other 2 #1 kids were at the weight above. He is an awesome wrestler and a great young man. I am not sure if they will wrestle in college he could be at 133.

    Dapper Dan

Guys, Nathan has been covered by flo as much as anyone. You have to take the good with the bad. Bottom line Nathan didnt perform. It has only been about three weeks that he has been in a room that pushes him. He will be ok he just needs to keep working and get stronger. You cant have your best match every match. Nathan actually beat this great young man about 2 years ago 6-3. Nathan got taken down at the end of the first. I think took his mind out of it and then the snow ball started. At the ceremony they talked about guys wrestling someone up a weight at Dapper Dan. Jake Herbert did it and got Tech Pinned. He ended up winning a couple of NCAA title. I am not going to define Nathans career off of one match or will he. When he came off the mat he just said I need to get back to work. Bottom line he got beat and that happens so Wildcat you are ok and not a problem with posting. People want to know. When people make such a big deal when you get beat by a guy 1 weight above you. You then know you are doing something right. Now for facts Nathan is a 120lber and he wrestled a kid that wrestled 126 all year that was a 126 state Champion and OW in PA. No there wasnt strict weigh ins and thats ok.. A lot of the kids didnt make weight with the 5lb allowance. The kids know they will wrestle regardless of weight. Its about putting on a show for charity. It was an honor that they felt they had to put their 126 on Nathan. Kentucky has had 2 Dapper Dans neither have won. Joe Carr jr lost by pin in 1997. Hopefully Myers can get us back on track. Dapper Dan is more about the ceremony and the awards. The actual wrestling is a small part of it. One may ask why would you go to wrestle someone in a higher weight and why would they do it. First of all the Dapper Dan is the Nirvana of Highschool wrestling. The best of the best are there. To make it interesting PA needs to put their best guys on the mat regardless of weight. This year PA allowed 4 guys to wrestle down a weight. Honestly, I think it was awesome. It made it very interesting. Brock had his match he would love to have back at super 32, Sean against a couple of guys in Ohio, Blackwell in the finals, and Nathan at Dapper Dan. Boys, unfortunatly you have those nights but you guys are still the greats in my eyes. Last night, the bottom line was he was bigger, stronger, and just a better wrestler. Most kids would love to have his career I know I would. 199-1 3X State Champion-2 States IN/KY 4X State finalist- Lost to Dapper Dan winner and OW his Sophmore year Ranked #1 in the Country a couple of times the last couple of years at different weights 2X Flonational Finalist-Flonational Champion Invited to Dapper Dan Invited to Dream Team In closing, I want to thank everyone for making Nathan feel like a Kentucky kid and accepting him as your own. Everyone opened their rooms and welcomed him with open arms. I love Indiana wrestling but Kentucky wrestling has a special place in my heart. I would guess Nathan will be right back in the practice room today or tomorrow. Thanks again and good luck at Nationals.
  15. Great job Jake.. I hope you recover from your injury quickly. As mentioned many times this weekend. Kentucky wrestling is on the rise and I am glad to have the opportunity to witness it. Way to represent your state..Had a very close match with a Fargo AA.
