Union has won regions since 2004 (my freshman year there). 2003 they got 2nd.

How did a union coach not win coach of the year. They dominated. Congrats to Dallas on MOW tho! Huge win. Sheffer was dominant as well, plus Landon Young pretty much abused the heavyweight class to state title. Overall a great tournament but still not a fan of how they ran the finals matches.

Union with 10 in the quarters and a 30.5 point lead over second place Oldham County after two rounds. Figured if they came from a 'weak' region they wouldn't have had that many in the quarters. Nothing to do with being tough wrestlers I guess. Smh...

A few years ago Thomas Buckman (189 Union Co.) won and was ranked 8th. That's one of the lowest I can think of off the top of my head.

13 of Unions 14 wrestlers did just as good or better than projected. 220, Sherman got third instead of projected 2nd. Zeke tech-falled Sapp at 106, so apparently it wasn't as close as we all expected. Definitely didn't see that one coming. They just won their 13th straight regional title, wonder how long that streak will last.

The brackets are now posted. Was very curious to see where people ended up in their seeds. Union has 9 #1 seeds, 3 #2 seeds, and a fourth seed. Shocked to see Micah Ervin as the top seed at 132, and apparently Kline not in the tournament.

I agree with Nike and GOO. Stop complaining about people ranked after the top 15 or so, if they are good they will show it at state. Rankings don't win or lose a match.

Zeke Escalara and Micah 'Ervin' decided to stick to high school it looked like. Would've been high placers, most likely state champs, at middle school state if they competed. But would like to say congrats to all the wrestlers who placed at middle school state this year and all the others who qualified to compete real hard! They are the future of KY wrestling!

Have there ever been a pair of brothers in the state finals before yesterday? The Adams boys wrestled each other in districts, regional, and state finals this year at 98lbs.

Is there going to be a region 1 update before regionals?

#1, #2, and #4 on the same side of the bracket at 80/82. Terrible seeding. Was told a coach voiced their opinion about this during the seeding meeting but "no one gave a s***" about his opinion. Even with representation and trying to fight for seeds, this bracket turned out like high school state tournament with random draw. Very disappointing.

So what is the status of this tournament? With Fayette County schools closed and not allowed to participate this weekend I imagine Franklin County would be the same way.

Avery Buckman has been 170 all year and won't be making the drop to 160. Cole Sherman on the other hand will be at 184, should be wrestling there today at the Father Ryan tournament.
