I think you leave it how it is. The idea of youth is to attract as many kids as possible to participate in wrestling. Cutting the amount of kids down at state would hurt the sport. Getting a chance for them to compete for a championship metal is huge to them at that age. I don't see kids complaining just parents. Once they move up to middle school the state tournament is an entirely different level. So all the parents that are dying to prove how good your kid is will have plenty of time in the future. Let the kids have their day in the sun. I coach middle school and I joke all the time about the difference in the parents behavior from youth to middle school. I think some parents think their kid will be the next john smith. The point is that they have plenty of time so let them be kids

Face off's need to continue. It is a huge tournament for those kids. Not to mention how many matches most of them had to win in order to be in the face off. I think parents need to remember it is all about the kids. For the parents that can't handle the extra 30-45 I'm sorry but it's not about you. If it is a problem now may I suggest basketball because middle school tournaments are even longer. They also do face off's. I hate to be so short but it blows me away thinking about someone complaining about staying a little longer to make some kids feel special.

I agree with bearcats coach. I will coach any kid that is willing to put in the time to get better. I could care less what high school a kid plans on attending. I also have a son that is a middle wrestler. Being a dad and a coach I am willing to put my son in the best situation for him. I think going to a team that has quality coaches and drill partners is a must. Having kids in the room that can push each other is the key to having success in this sport. As far as recruiting I think kids and parents want to be in a program that they feel will be best for them. Rather they like the coaches, the kids on the team, or just the school colors. The point is that there are a lot of quality programs to choose from. We as coaches should be doing this for the kids and not our egos.

I agree that erdman is tough as nails. I also believe that emerson is a stud himself. It just drives me crazy when I read post saying nobody has a chance against certain kids. I have seen multiple upsets over the years. Point being is the kids in this state are really working hard and the talent is getting tougher every year. I hope we get to the point as a state where we have 30 yenter's, wiley's,binder's,ervin's,etc. I love to see the top kids battle it out. Good luck to them all

I guess they thought binder would have an easier time at state going 92lbs. There are many kids in that bracket that nobody seems to know about. I wouldnt be surprised if we see an upset. You never know who's going to show up. We will see who wants it more. Either way it should be a fun bracket to watch

I agree with the comment about cook. He was big at 92lbs. He has to look like a giant at 86.

I wouldn't crown Binder at 92 just yet. Have you looked at that bracket? He will have to beat Siddens, then Johnson. I believe that he took a loss to Johnson this year. Not to mention the lower half of the bracket. Crazy things happen at state

I don"t see how you can overlook Blake Roth from Walton. I can see Roth and Moore in the finals at 75lbs.

Are you sure it wasn't mengelberg. The only moskwa is the 75lb from north oldham.

Thought I would thank Summit View for running a great tournament. The day was a little long but overall ran pretty smooth. There were some very good matches. Northern Ky has a lot of talent and quite a few kids that will make a run at state.

Hey Turk, You of anybody should know that kids go where the talent is. Especially in middle school when it is a club. A kid gets better if he works with tough kids each day at practice. Correct me if i'm wrong but I recall a couple of kids leaving Scott to join Simon Kenton in the early 90's. Do you remember? The point is that you go where you have the best chance to get better.

Anyone have any updates on what weights returning middle school state champs will be wrestling this year? Binder,Wiley,Erdmann,Jacobs,Scheffer etc.

I know the season is a few months away but I was wondering who the up and coming wrestlers and programs were going to be. I know high school wrestling receives a lot more attention than middle school. However the middle school programs are the reason we have so many great high school wrestlers. Any kids doing off season tournaments, camps, etc? Just wondering what school and what kids should make some noise this year.
