Still waiting on that st. X banner. Lol

Trying to break the stigma that wrestlers can't play basketball. We do a lot of single legs and foul shots. Then Jason Moore teaches the kids how to dunk. Lol. Good times!!

Thanks for the nice post. I however have to also recognize John Roth for helping make this happen. We have had a bunch of dads from different schools that have spent sometime trying to be helpful. It has been a great experience training with so many talented kids.

Here our wrestling room at our house. There were some great guys that made this possible
-
All those guys mentioned are unbelievable wrestlers. They have blazed a path for all kids in ky who have the same dreams of wrestling on college. I was at the bearcat brawl this weekend for middle school wrestlers. There were top teams from all over attending. I was having a conversation with a retired coach that was amazed how talented the jr high kids were. He was fascinated how technical at such and early age. I have to agree. Watching 70lb 4th graders really made me think how far the competition has come. If our youth keeps this pace up imagine what they will look like 10 yrs from now.

I agree that 105 was probably the toughest bracket. There were some awesome matches top to bottom. There were a few of those matches that had your little stud Zane rolling around in. After watching the competition all day there were not many easy brackets once you got close to the placement rounds. I witnessed some unbelievable battles. I like to give a big thanks to John Roth for bringing together so many outstanding teams to one building. I feel like the tournament went well. We had a few issues. One is that our gym is small. With the caliper of the teams attending we find ourselves each year having to turn teams away. The brawl has become know as one of the toughest ky tournaments around. That seems to be the reason some many teams want to attend. We do our best to try and accommodate as many wrestlers as possible. Knowing this we try to let teams know this will be a long. Yes it was a long one. I hope all the teams and wrestlers got some valuable experience wrestling some of the toughest in the area. Thanks again to everyone that participated in our bearcat brawl.

Adam bender and Trenton Johnson. Both looked good. We had a lot of great matches yesterday.

Looking over the brackets I say they are all brutal. We should see some really good match ups. Yes 92 should be tough. 105 is also a monster. Should be a great tournament.

I believe the talent in ky has really grown over the last 5 years. If you look at how many kids have moved onto college for wrestling it's apparent. I would say that this because the amount of kids that continue to train and compete all year long. As far as the middle school kids I believe that they should move up if they are able to compete at the high school level. I believe it is no different than when a 4th or 5th grader moves up to middle school. I believe this drives kids to get better and continue to grow. I thought it was awesome last year to watch sheffer and androni place at the high school tournament as 8th graders. The work they put into making that happen must have been tough. I think that motivates other kids to try and follow the same path. Talk about mental toughness. I hope more kids continue to train and accomplish these same goals. I think it helps our competition as a state top to bottom. -
Who's coming? This is usually a great tournament.

Lots of outstanding teams and wrestlers. We should see some great match ups.

They are probably tired of all those meatheads in black and orange taking home all of the first place medals. Lol

I'm sure there will be some more tough kids added to rangers list. I will say the 75lb girl from Taylor county is solid. There are some really good weight classes this year. I'm thinking 113 seems to be one of the toughest so far. The overall talent of kids seems to be getting better every year. It's pretty easy to see how many have man drastic improvements from last year. Good luck to them all

She was tough. I forgot to mention that little beast named Zane brown. He has been tearing it up this year.

Saw some kids that will make a strong run for a state title. Blake and Brock whorton, Trent Johnson all looked solid. Fritsch for twenhofel will be a handful also. Nice to see some many kids working so hard.

Joe b runs a great tournament. Indiana outlaws were a tough team. We saw a ton of great matches.

Should be a great tournament. There are quite a few tough teams coming.

November 10, 2013 Veterans Memorial Youth Tournament
dutch replied to J.W.'s topic in Youth Wrestling
I personally think that this issue should have been addressed with Jory in person not on a public forum. I can tell you that running a large tournament is a difficult task. I would hope that the results of the 92lb finals isn't the reason to call out a coach. I think the tournament was very organized from beginning till the end. The brackets also seemed very thought out. I would think most would agree that the two best kids in each weight met in the finals in most weights. Thanks to Jory for having our team and good luck to all the kids this year. -
