They jumped a 60 year old grandfather in front of his 4 and 6 year old granddaughters and put him in the hospital. They jumped a 13 year old girl and beat her and the man who tried to save her. Both in serious condition. The attacked Baders which is 1.2 miles away from Central and numerous other fast food places. Cops had 17 calls at once as the 200 person mob split into several smaller 30 person mobs. They can't be everywhere at once. I'd say these thugs would love to jump a wrestler and his dad and show how tough they are. Again, my point is to inform people who don't get the local Louisville news. Please, please, please attend this tournament!!!!! Just be careful when leaving the area and know about what's been happening. LMPD calls it isolated while business owners say it happens every spring when the weather warms.

It's actually in the exact area. All I'm saying is to be careful. This mob would love nothing more than to jump on a couple wrestlers. I'm a former cop, have many LMPD friends, and most certainly know the area and live near Louisville. Hopefully this crap ends, but out of towners should most certainly know about what's been happening in the area of the school on Saturday afternoons.

I've loved this season and this tournament. I'm a Buckeye homer and a grad of The Citadel so I've followed Stieber, Heflin, Ugi, and Turtok very closely and they will always be my favorites. I've also grown to like Coon and Grajales from that other school in the babig Ten. Outside of them I've loved Gabe Dean and Palacia from Cornell, the highlight reel from Minnesota named Ness, and even appreciated Ramos this season. Hoping for Minne or Oklahoma State to squeak by for a title, but next year the Buckeyes will be loaded. Hunter returns, BoJo, Kyle Snyder, and diJulius and Courts should improve enought to AA.

Perhaps. But Ugi is tough as nails and is still learning folkstyle. Our 165 is another Mongolian who is an outside threat to AA as well. In any case I think Ugi and Retherford is the top match in round one.

Macri is an absolute stud--so is Boston. It's an all star match and doesn't change a thing. Macri is headed to Cornell and Nathan will see him again. I'd expect a much different outcome.

You guys realize Snyder is a high school senior don't you? He goes to a traditional high school, has class, homework etc. His school even has a wrestling team. He just happens to not work out with them and goes to the OTC. I see the point though; he's afforded an environment and training partners that make it world class. In fact, I bet he's had more mat time this past year than nearly all collegiate wrestlers.

Unfamiliar with Root although I've seen his name mentioned on Yappi. Where does he coach? What's his background?

Look for Zane Retherford to lose in the first round to Ugi from The Citadel. Worst draw in the entire tournament as Ugi is a returning All American. He had some eligibility issues and was overlooked in seeding. How that happened is beyond me.

Logan dominated. Not as close a match as the 7-3 score would indicate. Cincy Moe coach has retired. Heard a strong rumor that J Jaggers could be the next coach there. That would be bad for the Buckeyes.

And that should mean a #1 nod this fall. Two years in a row Kentucky will have had a top ranked wrestler.

I was actually joking about Heflin. What a snoozefest!! He even had Cael chiding the ref about his stalling. He's a smart wrestler though. Make a mistake and lose position for a split second and Heflin will kill you. He was 171 his senior if HS cutting from 185. He is jacked though. Coach Ryan gets the upper weights lifting like OSU linebackers. Would have loved to have seen Campalatano (sp) stay around but Hefline will do just fine.

Nick Heflin is mine. Constant attack and he's not afraid to open it up and go for it!

Source? It's my understanding he is training freestyle only in order to focus on the Olympics. He's not wrestling in high school or college, but he's still on the mat.

Something is up with Ed Ruth. Not sure if he's sick, sucked out, or what the problem is. He's just not performing like he has in the past against lesser competition. Steinhaus may beat him and if he does, Minnesota will win the tournament. AMENDED Minnesota did not show up. It's close after day 1 but Penn Statw has the horses to pull away from Iowa. That's the point Coach Koll from Cornell makes a lot. He looks for kids with the potential to make the next step. Gabe Dean was an excellent high school wrestler and was a state champ from a very good state (Michigan). He wasn't on a dominant team nor a "blue chip" recruit like many others. Absolutely nobody saw him beating Ruth and doing as well as he has. The playing field has been leveled compared to 20 years ago. Flo, and YouTube give kids peeks into the latest training tips and technique. Graham/Jordan may have the luxury of blowing off Fargo and some other national events, but any kid can garner the national accolades if he gets out there in the offseason.

He's in the DII State Finals in Ohio tomorrow. He beat an Ohio State signee from Claymont. Nice showing for a freshman!

Trinity peaked at the right time and did better than I thought they would. Future looks bright for them too.

Yes. Is Isaac Jordan for real? What happens if he grows to 165 next year? How about the Hwt class? I hate that school up North but I love Adam Coon's wrestling. Whoever says that heavies don't have to shoot should watch these athletes compete. Coon and Nelson may not even make the finals. Big Ten Hwt class is the best and deepest class in any conference. The a Buckeyes under Tom Ryan have always peaked at the right time. I look for them to step up. Logan and Heflin are superb but they really need some others to step up. Stieber and Rutherford rematch will be amazing and I predict a fall by LS. Two time defending national champ Tony Nelson is a five seed. Amazing how tough this conference is.

Mr. Myers, I'll state that ATM's finals match reminded me a lot of Fickell. Watching that match made me convinced he's a legit DI 197 lber right now. I'm not snarky enough to bait you into anything. I wish him continued success wherever he wrestles. I wish you the peace of ignoring the detractors. You'll never convince them of anything. Results speak louder than words and you can't argue with what's happened on the mat. I'll refrain from participating in any discussion of him.

Fickell won Fargo and is considered by most to be the greatest high school upper weight wrestler ever. It's not even close....until now. Saying ATM compares to him is an absolute compliment.

I'm stating they have a huge sophomore class. Many were ranked very high. Many underperformed and they had some bad luck with injuries. There's much potential there. They were a great dual team and not so much a tournament team. They'll improve as a tournament team. I think Trinity's light to middle weight trio of Duncan, Heidorf, and Barton are solid and will all improve. Frankrone will only get better too and he undoubtedly made Lucas better. I think they surprised a lot of people, but teams will be gunning for them.
