Schools who dont offer wrestling
FalconWrestling replied to Raiders Wrestling's topic in 2015 Season
I wrestled in Kentucky but I coach in Ohio And yes my father ran in San Francisco for a year, he actually went to Central Dauphin (PA) most of his career and loves to complain about how terrible the wrestling team was when he was there -
Austin Myers is on Team USA, he will probably have Maines from West Branch, PA (#20 on Intermat, #17 on Flowrestling) I would love to see him wrestle Jordan Wood who is #1 but Wood is only a Junior. http://www.wrestlingclassic.com/

Schools who dont offer wrestling
FalconWrestling replied to Raiders Wrestling's topic in 2015 Season
Well on the team I coached this year we had two brothers from a nearby private Jewish school join our team since their school dropped wrestling the previous year. The older brother ended up one of our best wrestlers. My father had that situation back running cross country in San Francisco, his small private school didn't carry any sports so he ran for a nearby school and won them a title. It's very good for the sport and it helps the kids too. Honestly I don't see how it can help people abuse the system when the system is already pretty easy to abuse -
I think it might be Flopro :/ There is a generous weight allowance, Austin will be giving up a couple pounds but if he is going to be a college heavyweight he will have to get used to that. Unless Coach Henson wants him at 197, Mr. Myers could answer that.

I wish PA's top 220 would wrestle ATM but sadly only seniors can go to Dapper Dan.
-
Carr is a nationally ranked freshman so that's probably a good answer haha
-
Zane Brown may be one of the most polished 8th Graders I have ever seen, this kid will be a legend
-
That's a big blow to Union's title hopes Also a tough way to go out as a very talented senior
-
Looks like a two horse race at the moment, barring say a comeback akin to St. Xavier's during the semi rounds a couple years back Fern Creek has 5 in the semi's (113, 120, 132, 152, and 195) 5 still alive in consi's (106, 126, 138, 145, and 170) Union County has 4 in the semi's (106, 120, 145, and 220) 5 still alive in consi's (132, 152, 160, 195, and 285) The semifinal round might decide it. Union has two favored to make the finals, Fern Creek has 3-4
-
He's the MVP for Union right now I didn't even have him going to state in my final predictions
-
If memory serves me right it was semis and consolation semis in the morning, placing matches in the afternoon, and finals in the late afternoon
-
No it was a one point win, takedown decided the match Exactly like my example although when it happened to me the score was 1-0 not 3-2
-
That's painful for Sapp but all he has to do is use the disappointment to fuel a championship run next year
-
I had the exact opposite happen to me at regions my senior year, the ref ruled it a takedown and I nearly got a team point removed I was so furious. Last match of my senior year too (thanks Robbie Friedrich for bumping up and taking that last state qualifying spot) Not a fun situation to be in
-
I think Team PA takes it this year, Austin definitely has a swing match for the USA guys
-
That will be interesting, where is team PA? I can't seem to find it
-
They haven't announced the at large bids yet to my knowledge, nobody qualifies automatically out of the Big 12. I'd be ecstatic if Trae gets one of the at large bids but his only win over a ranked opponent is over Morales
-
Hoping that one day Kentucky adopts the weigh out system, it really helped my team out up here in Ohio
-
I wrestled in college Notice I never said Trae doesn't deserve praise, but I'm looking back to his impressive body of work as a true freshman (Wins over David Dolan and Mike Morales) which I think deserves more praise than B12's. You can only beat who is put in front of you yes, but I am mostly just sick of what the Big 12 conference (University of Texas Conference) has done to their wrestling teams. The NCAA doesn't even let anyone qualify out of it, they have to get at large bids.

Additional pound for the state tournament?
FalconWrestling replied to luvswrestling55's topic in 2015 Season
I'd consistently be at 3-4% body fat every season and wouldn't be allowed to cut (screwed me over sophomore and senior year) I'm almost positive my team constantly failed body fat testing because our trainer was lazy and did it wrong. He would only check our arm where we never had body fat, all my body fat has always been around the belly. My first year of college I was certified at 12% body fat, no way I gained 9% of body fat over one summer and also not gain any weight -
He hasn't done bad for a true freshman, but finishing 3rd out of 4 shouldn't be considered an accomplishment The fact he has wrestled several top guys very tough is. I think he will be a low AA in a year or two Also wanted to add, winning the big 12 isn't really an accomplishment this year either They're merging with the WWC next year

Like I said I forgot about Jose for some reason, which I usually don't do because I love watching Jose fight Cain will unify the belt easy
-
Jose does not, for some reason I forgot about him which is bad because he is one of my favorite fighters. Jose is a BJJ guy with great kickboxing, Chad Mendes has a wrestling background but I don't think Mendes will ever beat Jose. Pettis has a very small wrestling background
-
There is only one UFC Champion without a wrestling background (Fabrico Werdum) and if Cain Velasquez wins the unification fight everyone will have wrestling backgrounds

Yes ladies and Gentlemen Falcon is here for yet another edition of the annual state prediction game, we all know the rules so let's get go.... Wait you sir don't know the rules? Well why didn't you say so? Here's how it works. You pick your 14 champions and assign them a point total from 1 to 14, this point total determines how many points that pick is worth. For example when I pick ATM as my 14 point wrestler but ATM slips on an ice cube walking into the state tournament and is unable to compete then I lose 14 points from my total. If that sounds complicated just remember good wrestlers=big numbers upset picks=low numbers. We also have two added rules for kentuckywrestling's version- The Dark Horse and the Team champion. The team champion is a tiebreaker and you add your predicted point total for further tiebreaker criteria. The Dark Horse is a wrestler you think is ranked rather low in Ranger's latest batch but you think is capable of placing high at the state tournament. So let's say John Doe is ranked 18th but places 7th, that means I recieve 11 bonus points (18 ranking-7 actual placing). Any questions? Yes? Oh well, here are my picks 14- Austin Myers, 220 13- Hudson Heidorf, 145 12- Bryce Sheffer, 120 11- Johnny Meiman, 160 10- Saul Ervin, 106 9- Jorge Vega, 113 8- Logan Erdman, 126 7- Tyer Frankrone, 182 6- Angel Vasquez, 138 5- AJ Bindner, 132 4- Lucas Miozza, 195 3- Andrew Ackley, 152 2- Luke Shaffer, 285 1- Sam Griffith, 170 Dark Horse- David Nikolao, 285 Team- Union County: 190.6
