2010 KSWA State Tournament: Re-Schedule Plan

I think the problem is trying to be to diplomatic. There are so many people who aren't involved in the decision making process that think they should know every decision made as soon as it is made, then they ridicule the people doing it nonstop.I think if I were them I would call a meeting ,which everyone invited wont attend, of the coaches; make all decisions possible,of which the location would probably be the hardest to solidify, and not tell anyone anything until all final decisions had been made. They are taking polls trying to be as accommodating as possible and that is not how you run things in tough situations.Decide what you think is best, get the time and place for sure, let everyone know what has been done and for those who chose not to show that is totally their choice. I have two sons in the state tournament, one a returning state champion the other has a good chance of placing, and if they had chosen a sunday we would not have been there, our choice just like others may have tough choices with what ever is decided.Bottom line you cant make it easy for everybody so do your best and that is all anyone should expect.
  4. My grade and middleschoolers go to a very small private school that is accredited but not part of khsaa. We discovered that creates insurance issues at the highschool level so I think homeschoolers would have some work to do there. Our club team requires you to purchase your USA cards as part team membership and I think other teams do as well so this might be part of the issue club teams and school teams at the middleschool level,I never new and don't know what the difference is actually.I know young men from ferncreek and union who have competed highschool and there feeders are clubs but the athletes attended ferncreek and union middleschool.I have no problems with homeschoolers competing but I am sure the khsaa would. My situation is this we all know that competing at your highest level is key to getting better and some people do lots of camps some nationals or both, but some of us cant afford much of this so if our children could compete at their highest level within the school system it would help produce some KY grown champions that otherwise wont have many opportunities. Just trying to get some thoughts going in that direction for future athletes.
  5. I think my thoughts are clearer and we have heard alot of opinions so here is my bipartisan shot at equality for all middleschoolers.A parent openly states we are moving into a ky school district so that my child can compete highschool as a 7th grader and we have seen thats fine and legal. My position was, if that is fine and legal ,why is it illegal for a middleschooler who already lives in ky but whos parents have chosen a private or magnet school as their highschool of choice to have the same opportunity. I heard many say change schools, move to a new school district, and other extreme solutions that would be unecessary if we said ,their ky middleschoolers if they are good enough to win a highschool spot let them compete end of story everyone is equal. Then we would be talking about how good they are for their age .
  6. I apologize to Mark Hall and his family if I insulted them.I will refrase it is irritating to me that kentuckys rules regarding middleschoolers wrestling varsity are so outdated that a athelete can openly state they are moving into ky to take advantage of a rule giving this athelete opportunities that atheletes currently residing here having wrestled middleschool for years here arent permitted to have.I could move back and forth to gain these advantages but that would place sports at a higher priorty than I believe they truly are and would send the wrong message to my children, and if I was going to move my family for the sake of wrestling we would be heading for UNION county. Grapplesack I tried very hard not to get personal with the Halls, their ability to do what they are doing for their 7th grader is just another slap in the face to those of us who have been told NO you cant do that for your child for years now. Again to the Halls I meant no disrespect to you Mark is obviously a great wrestler and you are taking advantage of an opportunity that is there. I apologized just in case the Halls were offended but you grapplesack are one of those sad egomaniacs with a need to appear right even though everything you started defending was proven incorrect so you turn your attack on me.There are many ways to describe me but small and pathetic dont come most peoples minds who know me,I hope we meet someday so I can get the proper description of you.
  7. Well even though I knew it was pointless to prove these individuals were not recruited by the schools they attended I am glad I did because you made it clear you have a personal issue with catholic schools. It is very sad your dislike of these programs hardens your heart so much you dont care about doing what is best for all children that is sad .
  8. First of all you speak of things that you view from a distance and I just so happen to have detailed knowledge of.I told you what I was told by knable himself and you insinuate it is untrue, just because you dont like the answer doesnt make it false. He was a 4 timer because he started wrestling in the 2nd grade he was at stx because his parents wanted him at a good school sorry the truth isnt as exciting as recruiting across state lines story.Myron wrestled for ferncreek middleschool and went to trinity middleschool the first year it was started and stayed at trinity high with his middleschool teammates sorry thats not as exciting as trinity recruiting in e-town but its true. The fact that rivercity wrestlers, trinity middleschool wrestlers, and now middleschoolers who plan on attending magnet schools cant compete at a highschool because of state regulations is also a fact.I was told by the coach at st.x the A D said middleschoolers couldnt even practice with highschoolers for fear of being hit with recruiting violations.Obviously the public schools dont have to worry about such things. All I am pointing out is there really isnt much difference between the public schools and the private schools ability to go after atheletes as there use to be so cant we revisit this rule and make it the same for all middleschoolers.
  9. Grapplesack you make my points pefectly for me.First you ask should people feel sorry for me because of my school choices and imply that my comments about a poor rule is whining.I never asked for anyones pity nor am I whining about Mark Hall he is here and he also tried to go to trinity 1rst but was told they could not let him wrestle for their team. The young men who left the ferncreek middleschool program and went to the trinity middleschool program did so because of the bond they had to their coach and his children who were going to trinity. They first went as middleschoolers and stayed there for highschool they were not recruited by trinity pryor to their coach going there I know this and them well because my sons started wrestling at ferncreek with them and their coach. The Knable comment I was told his parents sent him to stx because the Indiana school he would have attended did not meet the standards they wanted.Recruiting in the louisville area is not the issue it was because students can apply to any school in louisville area regardless of where they live so now public school coaches are not limited to geographical boundries either. That is why I dont understand the middleschool rule seperating private ,magnet,or public the recruiting playing feild has been leveled a great deal .
  10. So grapplesack your saying as a parents we have to choose between academics and morals or sports.I posed a simple question about why there are different rules for middleschoolers based on the highschool they plan to attend and you not only get personal you get off topic.I have said nothing negative about Mark Hall only the fact that his parents or parent proclaimed openly he is here because of our states rules that allow him to be and he will leave when it no longer benefits him to be here,he said this to me personally so it is not hear say.I am trying to bring attention to an old rule that has become useless and the Halls use of the rule I think makes my point more clear. This rule will not affect my family much longer because my youngest wrestler is an 8th grader next year but it does not make it any more justified because I am not personally affected.Mark Hall doesnt affect me now, none of my sons are near his weight class but this rule has affected all my sons when they are middleschoolers. We did choose the private schools regardless of the rule and we do accept the medals we earn but this is a discussion board and good place to give an opinion in an adult and civil manor .Everyone says lets help ky wrestling grow as a sport, I say giving every middleschooler the same opportunity is a way to start.
  11. I was talking about rules affecting middle schoolers and some how it became a catholic school slam wow sorry didnt mean to hit a nerve but how does choosing a private or as we heard public magnet school for your highschool make you unworthy to compete with the other middleschoolers throughout the state.Dont make a comparison of numbers or filling a spot we all know that Ryle has no problem filling spots and any school with a middleschooler who can win his weight class will let him have it. I know my son could have had the 103 at stx last year and this year but it isnt an option for him.
  12. Speaking for myself a father of 3 Kentucky wrestlers Mark Halls ability to wrestle here as a 7th grader when my sons who go to private schools cant is irritating. We all want our children to have every opportunity to excel but our own states rules punish some children while benefitting others. My sons will go to school at st.x because we believe it is an excellent school academically because of that choice my middle school aged sons who wrestle for river city cant even practice with the high school for fear of recruiting violations. My sons biggest competetors like Sean fauze or Brock ErvIn are wrestling high school this year when he would love to also but cant.John Fahey didn't wrestle high school as an eighth grader ,is that because he wasn't good enough or because our states rules wouldn't allow it.Those of us who chose private schools for our children want them to be able compete at the highest level possible just like Mark Halls parents but our states rules dint allow it.My point and I think I speak for many is to see someone be able to manipulate Ky's. rules like the Halls have is irritating.I know the KY wrestlers and their parents and can be happy for their accomplishments because in some way we KY parents are bonded by our common goal to support our children in their quest to be their best. The Halls have not been a part of that but they get to take advantage of Ky's rules when KY wrestlers and family's cant . Mark Hall is not the issue but the ability for non-ky residents to gain more from Ky's rules than KY residents is to me.
