    TEAM KENTUCKY

Mr. Frankrone, I never said that YOU omitted anything and as a matter of fact, you are correct, I did miss the fact that you did mention Indiana Blue in your post. If I had seen that, I may not have posted, although; the post I did see (see below) may have sparked me to post anyway. It is one thing to be happy for your team and give them a pat on the back. I am all for that, these kids need that. However; it is a totally different thing to encourage the public to believe a fabrication. Anyway, I was only reading this because I would like to see Kentucky keep rising. As an end result, it will force surrounding states to keep getting better as well which includes Indiana. Keep it up KY and settle it down Mr. Frankrone.

    TEAM KENTUCKY

I guess because I was raised that to omit information to make yourself look better is called a lie by omission. To state "we beat Indiana" and never mention which Indiana team you beat, nor the fact that the top Indiana team placed way above you in the tournament would be considered a lie by omission. If they would have just stated "we beat the Indiana blue team" that would not have been a lie by omission as any normal person would then have known that Indiana must have had more than one team in the tournament and if they cared they would have looked up the information for themselves to find out how the other team did. Again, the way it was stated, it was a lie by omission, so to correct that misdeed (whether intended or not), I posted the rest of the information. Understanding now?

Congratulations Team KY, you are improving! Discussion: Fargo & State

If more of you all would have went to Fargo, you would laugh at the pressure of state! It is a great trip and a shame that only 3 wrestlers from Kentucky were able to man up and go and only two of which went Junior.
  10. Yeah, here in KY they don't. Just like Mr. Granby above, they don't care about being competitive at a larger level.

First Annual Youth State Wrestling Duals

I don't know the rules for Elementary and MS, so you may be correct. I thought they had to follow KHSAA rulings. If this is not the case, that may be a positive so long as we do not overwhelm our newer youth wrestlers, but I guess that is on the coaches.

Is this a one day thing? How are you going to get past the 5 match rule?

What is the Worst Habits to avoid for HS wrestlers

Ear to ear makes you equals and you should always be looking for the advantage. Thus, ear to ear isn't good. Not to mention that those that tie up and go ear to ear typically dance for a while. Takedowns should be set up and taken advantage of within every 15 sec. interval of on the feet wrestling. However, I disagree with forehead to forehead, that also gives the opponent the same advantage. An underhook with your forehead to their temple is a better solution, not to mention it hurts if you squeeze their head a little.

    High Schools picking up wrestling.

One quick example from here in KY: Whiting from Trinity. Ask hiim about the Football scouts in the stands when Trinity wrestled Jeffersonville. But anyway, disbelieve all you want and spread it to your football program. Have fun with that.

    Ryle?

I'd say black and orange. If things go like more recent years, more black than orange. :-D

    2009 Bluegrass state games

Alright, I was just trying to help. I checked into the Ohio State Fair and it is a USA event that attracts far more competitors and only charges $10 including entrance to the Fair for the day for those that enter early and $15 for those that register at the door. Granted, they don't offer a t-shirt or entrance to a game for the whole family. Maybe we could start something at the Kentucky Fair. Anyone have a friend of a friend that runs the show there?

    2009 Bluegrass state games

Is the secondary insurance used to cover anything else? I only ask because making it a USA tournament would take care of that and I know with over 200 in numbers, decent t-shirts can be purchased for $3-4, so it could be dropped to $15. However, the admissions probably make the price worth it, but not knowing about them ahead of time isn't as good, maybe this could be advertised better next year and that 300 count would be easier to obtain. Of course the other thing about making it a USA tournament is then being able to advertise on themat.com which could draw from other states as well. Just a thought.

    2009 Bluegrass state games

Just a thought, but $10 seems a bit better than $25, especially when you have multiple kids. Most USA tournaments can be put on for only $10. However, I also know that the Ohio State Fair costs around $25, but it counts as admission to the fair as well. I have never been to the Bluegrass state games, so what I am saying could be already in place. In that case, though, it would be nice to know what all the $25 admission cost is for. Way back in 1992 when I first went to the Ohio State Fair, I was sent (for my registration) admission tickets as well as a guide to the fair explaining all exhibits and everything. It was really nice.

summer tournaments thats gonna be going on

Your link appears not to be working. However, the Ohio State Fair attracts many participants across state lines. I used to go to it even though I was from Michigan, and I wrestled a person in the 17-18 division that was from Ontario and another person in the 15-16 division (I wrestled both the same year as they were two different days) from California. In later years I brought my little causin there and he had like 15 others on his pee-wee bracket.
  20. Well, no matter what, we are not the NHSAA or KHSAA and I don't see them changing. MMA is quite different from wrestling in that most submissions take place while the person causing it is on his back. Fighting for better position in top and bottom wrestling causes more items to be snagged, not to mention MMA doesn't have cry baby teams and thus doesn't have to worry about purposefull pulling down of gear for a time out due to bad positioning.
  21. Just to make one thing clear before I get heat about promoting no head gear, I have always pushed my wrestlers to wear headgear at all times during practice. I was actually aiming more at the National level to meet up with how things are at the World and Olympic levels. My ears suffered quite a bit and look quite rough with using headgear during my years of wrestling, so please know that I really believe HS wrestlers should have headgear on at all times. I was just making a point about adding another article of clothing in the sport. One additional thing I thought about after my last post is contact lenses. How many times do we see matches stopped to find one of these and they are hard to notice by a ref. Now think about these shorts or shirts going down/up too far in a match. The ref sees it and has to stop the match just as that person is about to be turned. What sort of trouble would this be getting us into. You have heard of crybaby teams crying to get off their back. We now might have short pull down teams using that as a method to get off their back or not be turned in the first place.
